Yes just like what SponX said there is no "Best" profession. A example on that is there are a lot of people who like to play as a Warrior/Monk Warrior is the primary skill Monk is the Secondary. However, this skill has a downfall to it the downfall is that Warrior as a primary has very little Energy so even though it has a few of thoes healing skill i cant heal itself much. In the other hand my friend wanted to make a Monk/Warrior. The downfall in this is that Monk do have a lot more energy than a Warrior but its life is really low, but he was thinking that becuase of the more energy he can heal himself more and will last longer then the Warrior/Monk. So looking at this example all character are very unique and there is certainly no "Best" Profession. However, there are a few profession that do not go along with each other but i do not know exactly which ones but if you choose a bad combo of profession they wont work. Also dont worry if you do choose the wrong secondary profession you want becuase you can change it (However, i do not really recommend because its a waste of time) So think wisley and enjoy because all class are very good and are needed.
There is no "best profession", this is why Guildwars is such a great game. There is no cookie cutter class that is superior to the rest. Each class has its pros and cons, making for a unique balance in game play.
What is the best profession? This can only be defined by the individual, stating what class works best for them. For me, its mesmer/monk acting as a energy denial for casters, especially monks.
If you play an elementalist and only elementalist in guildwars please stop reading NOW, because this may confuse your tiny minds due to the fact I am forced to use multi syllable <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
I currently have four LvL 20 chracters (and have deleted one of them in sheer frustration)
I started with a Ranger/Necromancer and finished with a Warrior/Monk my second character was a Monk/Ranger, the most boring character as you can expect is Monk primary, to play a monk correctly you need to spend your time watching your team mates health bar and states and cure then so you never get to actually chill and enjoy the game.
The easiest most stress free fun character is the basic meat shield the warrior/monk he is extremely easy to play he does very little damage but takes little damage so this character is a nice way to see the game as he can venture solo where others cannot.
My most complex character is my Ranger/Necromancer and unfortunately takes plenty management and is the most satisfying in PvP as he has the annoying factor as is a very disruptive force if the opposition are undisciplined,
o yes back to the elementalists if you are a ubbar l33t player and or under 15 play the elementalist/monk combo and always remember to agro everything and then blame the monk because he could not keep you gay toon alive
I dont want to start a fight,. but,...... Warrior's if you play them right can deal the most damage,.theres the problem with 80% of the worriors using to many heal/defence skills,.the bottom line is the worrior needs to be 90% damage dealing,..I got 3 moves that top out at 120dmg to casters. 360 damage in seconds is not a low damage dealer.
The game is still young, most players just copy the others,.only a few make the powerfull builds we see today,
First it was the blocking/healing W/Mo(this build sucks on a team and gives worriors a bad name)The build just dont deal much Damage at all..
Next was the blinding/poisen/trap laying ranger.(this build allso sucks on a team)And allso gives rangers a bad name,.spending to much time running or laying useless traps,.when you need to be messing up casters.or making a monk hunters life a living hell.
smiting attack monk(Allso a bad build for a team)guess what,. he's not healing you.and one good mesmer will make him useless..
I can go on and on about bad builds,.the thing is,. the builds I said can solo vary well, and for 1 vrs 1 they can allso do vary well,.but the bottom line is there doing nothing for the team,.monks not healing worriors not dealing dmg,. and the silly ranger is just running around with some dumb worrior on his @ss.,.wow I hate to be on that team,.lol
Think team team team,.you can make what ever combo you have work well, the game is balanced, choose what you like and you can be awsome with it.
Well as everyone else has said there is not a "best proffession". I likr mesmers and monks the best. Mesmer is so versatile and is just so much fun to play. Playing Monk means easier grouping and they are just really fun.
Now Tigercha obviously does not like Elementalists . They are a good class and are very helpful with the AoE spells they provide. Used as a secondary they can help boost the amount of damage your character puts out. They can help kill warriors with their lightning magic or protect themselves and allies while slowing down their enemies with earth magic.
I dislike warriors. Seem to have less strategy and all. But I have played it and I am not very good at it, it does require skill. As with everything in this game if you do not know what you are doing, you will die no matter what class you play.As a previous poster said, there are no classes that are neccisarilly easier to play.
Okay, a basic rundown of classes:
Warrior: Tank, meatshield
Ranger: Long distance attacker. Can cause numerous conditions with different attacks.
Mesmer: Chaos bringer. Can make it so attacking causes damage to the enemy. Can destroy the damage cababilities of others and also strengthen their allies.
Monk: Healer, can do some smiting(good against undead) but I hate anything but healing monks
Necro: Cam sacrafice health and energy to damage opponents and also steal life from them. Also can summon undead minions.
Elementalist: Massive AoE spells. Also can use lighting against warriors because if i remember correctly, some of their lightning spells count before armor.
I don't see why it's so unskilled to use an Elementalist?? If you're going to reply to this, don't start yelling about me being a n00b or so, but rather explaining detailed and technically why it's so imba and or unskilled.
Originally posted by Lt.Deadend I dont want to start a fight,. but,...... Warrior's if you play them right can deal the most damage,.
Warriors do damage over longer periods of time while elementalists do it all quickly and at range. You are comparing apples to oranges.

I have two primary toons. One is a warrior and the other is an elementalist. I am certain that the elementalist requires much better timing and conservation skills than the warrior ever could. I think some people, especially those who play warriors, get the idea that playing an elementalist is easy because their alpha-strikes can do so much damage.
If anything playing a warrior requires less skill than playing any other class.

Yhea i agree the warrior is relly a big damage dealer when played properly , its bigest draw is that its the only class that relly need to be in close combat to be efficient .

Dont matter what you play,it takes skill to use your toon,.A Warrior needs to stay in range,.Most of the best skills use NRG so you cant just click away and do good. and the warrior allso needs to time his distupting chop/savage slash/distracting blow.If you think its easy then you dont play a warrior all that much.
Killing a pro monk all by your self takes skill,.need to time your cripples,.need to time your distupting/knock downs.allso need to time when its good to unload all your damage dealing skills at once.anyone who thinks you just run around and hit stuff, probly sucks with the warrior..
Think its easy to kill that monk in the tombs when he has a ranger to make your life a living hell?
Mesmers and necros can make it really hard for a warrior to do anything to,..
Every class takes skill to play, its all the same,..If anything a mesmer is easy to play, but thats just me I find them easy to play.I have played everything,.I have the most fun with a warrior,I like running around and killing casters,Or dealing with a ranger thats criplling/poisening me.Casting is boring,.you just stand there and time your skills,to me thats easy,.
Monks Take the most skill to play, they need to stay alive and heal the team,.And to be honest,.If I have a Axe fighter or a ranger on my @ss when im a monk its a nightmare sometimes, when they lock a few of my skills for 20 seconds.mesmer hexs I can just remove, but the axe fighter and the rangers distupting is nasty..

We need Mesmers and monks,we are 100% pvp guild,.send me a wisp ingame if you have TS and a team spirit.we allso need a few more dibilitating/distupting/poisen rangers.

Agreed completely.

Only half the time I play. I'm starting a second warrior now out of boredom. Warriors require skill to play. Don't put words into my mouth - that's a pet peeve of mine. I think that they are the easiest class to play though. Actually, monks are pretty simple too but just a tad more difficult to start out as.
But we are talking about two very seperate things. You are talking about "play" at a high level. I am talking about the ability to pick up the mouse and keyboard and play with ittle to no experience.
Playing a warrior can be a very skilled endevour, just like all of the other classes. But there is a reason that people recommend starting out playing a warrior and it's not because of the initial challenge.
You can't even answer this question, and most people don't really understand that EVERY class can do really good damage. The one class that truly excels in doing damage is the elementalist which suffers in regards to armor. Monks have smiting prayers which is arguably one of the most damaging attributes in the game.
The potential for every class to be the "best" is there, it is however, the players ability which often falls short.

I THINK THE BEST PROFFESION IS W/MO (warrior monk). CAUSE AS A WARRIOR U HAVE GREAT SKILLS FOR WEAPONS THAT ARE DEADLY FOR UR ENEMY. AND MONK AS UR SECOND PROFFESION U ALSO HAVE NICE SKILLS. MONK HAS VERY GOOD ENCHANCMENTS THAT ARE ALMOST VITAL FOR U R LIFE. EXAMLPE: MENDING. MENDING HAS + REGENERATION OF UR LIFE (HIGHER HEALIN PRAYERS HIGHER REGENERATION) AND WHEN U GET TO DROKNARS (TOWN) THERE U HAVE THE BEST ARMOR IN THE GAME WHICH HAS 85 ARMOR. AND WITH SOME WARRIOR RUNES LIKE SUPERIOR ABSORBTION (WHICH GREATLY REDUCES DMG DONE BY UR ENEMY) WARRIOR / MONK IS DEFENETLY THE BEST COMBINATION. THX FOR READING THIS

I assume you play a monk since its the only profession on the poll with a capitol letter, "Monk".
