You can do most of this with RIFT now in regards to the social media connection, minus the in game browser but i run the game in windowed fullscreen so just popping up firefox is no real issue. Digsby gets me the chat bubbles and facebook integration i need.
But it doesn't look nearly as fancy or migrate to all other games. Hey, its free, no reason not to try it ah?
Actually there IS a reason.
I'm getting tired of all these 'social' and 'community' aps/programs/sites. It's no one's business but my own what I do on my computer and I don't want all my friends lurking about when I'm trying out some new game nor want to inform them that I'm about to take a dump or just making coffee.
While I kinda agree with you on privacy and such, you kind of contradict yourself. In your first post about Rift, it appears you are good with posting to these "social" sites as long as its through the game you are playing and also appears you use facebook since you said Digsby gives you all the FB intergraion you need.
But then you respond to someones post that you are fed up with all these "social" and "community" sites. No one is forcing any of this on you. I manage my own privacy by choosing not to download and install these programs or by not posting what I'm doing on FB.
Not attacking you by any means, just a bit confused on your way of thinking.

Hey thanks! As I'm currently really only playing League of Legends, and it happens to be on the list, that's good news. I guess I'll give the app a shot.
Eh, I don't see this adding anything that I would use that I can't already do with Steam. Additionally Steam doesn't require any kind of localization to the app - it's not a matter of the program supporting some game X, it will simply work regardless of what you run. Additionally, I have a convenient menu to run all of my games through Steam. So, I don't see any value whatsoever in this.
Originally posted by Kyleran Hmm, costs nothing, has no advertising, what's the catch? How do they make money to justify its existence? Doesn't matter, I'm too old for social media anyways.
I will admit to being very curious about this myself. The money making part, not the social media part. No ads, free download, links to lots of stuff and lots of plugins for it...how is it going to stay around with no money to pay the programmers with?
As far as social media, I'm much more interested in posting pictures of lolcats than I am any sort of gaming stuff. "I bought a Razer Naga! Her's a Pic!"..."So did I! Here's a Pic!"..."Did you copy my Pic?" and so on.
One more thing I wonder is do the developers have plans to integrate somehow with Google+, once there is actually a development kit for the platform?
I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.

I'll be honest, I don't get the whole idea of being constantly connected over Facebook or Twitter. There cannot be that many people interested in what I'm doing in game. The in game browser is cool and the video capture alone makes the download worth it.
If I had a facebook, I WOULD be interested in what you do lizardbones. Right now I just have to sit outside with binoculars and hope you pass by the window... . er.... eh... I mean I have to .... wait here on the forums and not spy on anyone. Whew....

I reckon Overwolf is practically spyware.
They'll be telling the game companies what websites their players visit, what social media they use, they'll provide a handy browser with link to the cash-shop and/or they may start running cash-shops for games and game-related products themselves.

no wonder! i was wondering why Xfire just stopped developing new features when it could have been so much more. Does this mean that Overwolf will interface with xfire to make the connection complete or will overwolf have it's own voip chat features that Xfire has? Xfire is used heavily by my guild for voip it would be great to have social media and voip in the same program.
id say adding a ingame audio option would be nice when recording as id rather not use the mic on my laptop or headset to pick up the audio from ingame.
when recording it seems to lag out my gameplay slightly which is annoying in an FPS so if you could possible allow it to record 60fps aswel.
there was an error that it wouldnt load up when i had closed it in windows 7 64bit.
Our gain is by contracts with partners such as game publishers.
You need not worry :-)
Does your program record and send you info about what games people are playing and what they are doing in them? If so, do you then sell this info to game publishers?
My guess to the question of how do they make money from this is that they sell the info they collect from having this program installed on your computers. Companies pay a lot for metrics like that. Thanks but no thanks, thats one of the main reasons I refuse to use things like Facebook because they do the exact same thing. Nothing is truly free, people.

Overwolf currently supports yahoo and gtalk via Meebo. Meebo is a cool Multi-IM service that supports tons of chat services. To open Meebo, click on the dock (the large main icon) to open the "Widgets Bank" and then click on the Meebo button.
We also plan to support more IM services natively (via independent widgets like the Skype widget or MSN Messenger). I can tell you that Xfire is next on the list. Yahoo and gtalk may take some time, but we will get there...
Right now I use Raptr as my main source of chatting. The video and screenshot taking is something I never really got much use out of even with Xfire and Steam, so those aren't near the top of my list.
I will continue to watch this program develop, but am looking more for a good streamedline IM service, like Raptr currently offers, without having to jump through 'apps' like Meebo. I want to have my friends list available to me from the onset, which you can do with the officially sanctioned MSN, but no other IM programs without Meebo. MSN for me is a waste of space, since I don't know a single person who uses that program.

Hello fellow gamers,
Some of you complained that the latest version of Overwolf doesn’t work with World Of Warcraft, Runes Of Magic and some other games.
It happens to some of the users because we've added support for DirectX11.
So don’t worry, you’ve got the most expert and talented guys on it so it won't happen on Overwolf's next version.
In the meantime, to quickly solve this issue, Please install DirectX End-User Runtime, which is a harmless directx extension library.

I didn't notice if anyone else asked, are there plans to include yahoo and gtalk chat? I'f I missed it you can beat me later.

Cool concept. I hope it's helpful for everyone.
Of course it isnt. Since Xfire was sold, and the old original makers moved on and made their next program, which is like Xfire but better, Raptr!
