Congratulations to ArenaNet Art Director Daniel Dociu, who was recently selected for the Grand Master Award inExposé 9, Ballistic Publishing’s 2011 digital art annual. Daniel Dociu joins the ranks of former Grand Master winners such as H.R. Giger, Syd Mead, John Berkey, and original Star Wars artist Ralph McQuarrie – pretty impressive company to keep!

Yeah GW1 had an amazing ART book that came with the CE I got for a few bucks at Gamestop a few years ago, great stuff all around, as well as what I've seen for GW2.

He deserved it, ANET have some of the best artists I ever seen.
I still have no clue about the gameplay but here is a thing that GW2 really do better than other games.
Ah I enjoyed the artbooks GW1 had. Still have might nightfall one right on the shelf.
Yeah, it's rather silly the price I paid for that CE, like $15 or something, I'd have paid more than that for that book, especially considering the Caliber of the artists showcased. Nice to see this guy standing next to two of my favorites of all time, H.R. and RM.
Funny enough my tattoos are all of those two artists work, H.R. mostly but I have a few pics, that RM did as well.

Not surprised. Dociu's works belong in a museum. To be honest though I feel that way about a lot of the artists of Guild Wars 2. I have the art book but that isn't enough, and I've since collected every bit of concept art out there, including from the press packs (noormal and HD, both of which contain different concept art) and compiled it into a large folder. It's lovely stuff. I'd love to have somoe of it on my wall as massive prints. There's this one Dociu did of the Black Citadel that I'd kill to have a print of.

I honestly think that'll turn up in the game somewhere, much like the Kodan iceberg, because something as visually incredible as that they just wouldn't waste. But yeah, I'm not surprised to see Dociu winning awards. Pleased, pleased as punch, but not even remotely surprised. The man deserves every art award there is.

These guys are the best artists in the gaming industry, and absolutely deserve every award they get. Keep the good work coming!
The Black Citadel looks amazing. That would be awesome to see in game.
