The team at Masthead Studios are proud to announce that Earthrise's first major content patch launched on July 14th, giving players improved performance with the game's client, as well as a netcode optimization, guild ranks and quest enhancements.
„We worked very hard to improve our game. The new expansion is a result of not only the team effort, but also of our close communication with our players, we implemented their best suggestions in the patch.” commented Atanas Atanasov, producer of Earthrise and director of Masthead Studios. He also noted that the new expansion comes very soon after the company’s decision to reduce the price of the game by nearly 40%.
The company also decided to reactivate all game accounts and give them 14 days of free play.

Is this the same Masthead as the award winning Fable series? Oops!

Urrr not even the offical site lists the content or the patch/expansion.. Wanted to see fi it was worth buying this game yet.
Its about 8 quid on steam (£)- I paid 50 odd euros so very pissed off, but not played it for months.

well that wasnt smart. never pay for the client
Honestly if you think about it, it is sad...they worked very hard on that game regardless of how it does...and yet they just cannot get it rolling like it should have. SciFi is a hard genere to make $$ in. Its not too bad a game, but GA really competes with it ya know?
(-_-)
i am sorta sad this game flopped like it did. because im tellin ya there were tons of ppl excited about it
It..Burns..
they have the worst customer service of the history for a p2p game,i have buyed the game from d2d 2 day ago and still cant play
"We are sorry for any inconvenience this issue has caused you.
There seemed to be a problem when creating your game account and we are working on creating it for you now."
wow 2 day to resolve it,its like a joke.
Um... what? The game is out? I don't know how but it seems that game slipped into some kind of parallel universe for me. Maybe my subconscious knew it wasn't ready and put a veil on it to protect me from harm...
Yeah game is not on Steam, it was on direct2drive a couple days ago for 12 USD.
I actually tried the buy the game. I tested it a little bit in closed beta, had a crappy computer at the time and was unable to play it for the most part. Have a better computer now, but unfortunately could not buy it from direct2drive. Tried two different credit cards (kept saying unable to save card, contact bank, both cards), paypal (said unable to use paypal, contact paypal), two different direct2drive accounts, two different browsers. They just would not take my money. Emailed their support, unfortuantely they did not respond to me until after the game was already full price again. Not paying 30 usd for this game. Oh well, maybe they should really get a trial if they want more players.
I stayed away from Earthrises launch and the price at the time for good reason, but now it seems more reasonable with this optimization and content patch.
It's still an open world sandboxy game, so the themepark entitlement crowd probably wont appreciate it.
wow there still players left? :O
ohh 14 days freetime i got a acc and even with that for free i never would take the time to download its mostly the same with these indy games great ideas not well implemented at launch with much exploits in there and when they have fixed it you have to fight against these guys that were cheating there way up to the top notch
this game is great...if it wasnt for all the dang problems
=[
I play games just like you
Patch is a step in the right direction, but nowhere near where the game truly needs to be in order to be a success.
Yes it is a sandbox, but there really isn't much sand to play with, leaving the box feeling rather empty and depressing.
I played DF from launch until about a month ago (I prefer sandbox mmorpgs to themepark ones), and am a much bigger sci-fi fan than a fantasy fan, but ER just doesn't have enough to do and the little that it does have is extremely grindy content that is very lackluster to participate in. It left me wanting to gouge my eyes out after the first five to ten hours, and I highly doubt I will log back in anytime soon.
Really glad it was on sale for 12 bucks, because if I had payed the price people payed at launch I would be exceptionally frustrated.
still, i feel sorry for MHS
So What Now?
That would be Lionhead.

MHS is still at it, trying to improve on a very poorly launched mmo. I played it back then, and even with all the problems, I enjoyed it with my guild, because the PvP is good (when the lag was tolerable).
I checked out the new patch briefly and things looked the same, but performance seems better. I am still hoping MHS can improve the game to the point that it can succeed, but I fear it might be too late . . .
Nice spin on buggy and broken game. Maybe people do not appreciate it because it is unplayable and suffers from game breaking issues? But it is cute how you took a jab at themepark players as if they are the reason this game tanked.
Heso o kamedomo oyobanu -- Don't cut off your nose to spite your face.
if the game have some bug but is playable is not a big problem, but if the customer service sucks its ,this mean they dont care about player and i still cant log it after 4 day of the creation of the account.
I imagine anyone looking for a functional game with content wouldn't appreciate it either.
Since when is Sci-fi a hard genre to make money in? Putting out broken products is the hard genre to make money in, but that doesnt stop them from trying.
Sci-fi has always been a hard genre to make money in. A few key IP's have managed to make money, gone are the days of campy sci-fi at drive-ins with minimal budgets. All you have to do is take one look at the Syfy channel and you'll see that wrestling gets better ratings than the rest of anything they've had. Wrestling does not equal sci-fi last I checked. Take a look at all the sci-fi shows that launch on CBS/FOX/ABC/NBC each new season and fail horribly, only FOX has gotten it right it seems with Xfiles and Fringe because they gave them time to develop.
Now if your talking about books, both Sci-fi and Fantasy do rather well when compared to on screen, and fantasy has converted well to the masses for gaming. But do you really thing it touches crap stuff like Angry birds or more mainstream such as COD series?
EDIT: BBCA has gotten it right with Dr.Who. I know they got a few other supernatural saturday stuff, but none of it appealed to my taste. But BBCA isn't mainstream obviously like the big four listed above.
I was excited about this waaaay before release, but gladly stayed away and will continue to do so.
