lol, I just saw on the background before I loaded this page "Pre Order now the Old Republic" on this site. lol awesome, MMORPG is ready!
I can't really comment on much, but the prices I've seen around the internet are pretty gosh dang...well high. But I'm sure I'll end up getting the CE lol.
I'm getting 5 CE's. using one and selling the rest. there is a black market for such things i'm gonna clean up nice with them.
I personally wouldn't do that. If it's like any of the CE's in the passed few years it will be worth the price you paid and that's it. With the price being so high that really narrows the market for who will actually buy it and if there is 50K+, most that want it will have it. You might make money a year down the line if someone wants a CE and they are finally out of them, but you also run the risk of the game being bad and unpopular in a year. Maybe I underestimate the amount of people willing to shell out $150, but I know with WAR there were still CE's on shelves and that was priced much lower.
It's just money and you have to spend it on something in life.. can't take it with you and spend it when you're dead.
If it's bad, boring or just 'Meh', I won't sub after the first couple of months and I'll put it on the shelf next to my Tabula Rasa, Warhammer Online, FFXIV and possibly Rift copies where they will all gather dust.
Then I'll wait for GW2 to put a pre-order in on that, and The Secret World as well.

Hmm didn't think of this....
Only flaw with this plan is if the game is not as popular as ppl think and they make too many collector's, then you would have spent £700 in CE boxes that are now stacked up at HMV for £30.
Heh I think there will be plenty of supply of these boxes considering the price heck I got an apple here its a collectors apple Ill sell it to you for $150 and Ill sell you loads more for the same price! SEE WOT I DID THAR!
With all the stuff and the leaks around seems like tomorrow there will be a release date for swtor(If we are lucky enough)
My question is..are u guys going to blind buy a collectors edition that costs 150$ or just wait for reviews.
After all the dissapointment from preview mmos im a little afraid to throw 150$ for something that may prove trash like ffxiv or rifts and shit.
Who want's to pay for a fail?
Noone
Have you ever spent $50 or more on an sci-fi / fantasy related action figure or model to put on your shelf?
If you have and you still don't regret it, then you pass the geek test and should buy the CE.
Look at the facts: if you've like Mass Effect or KOTOR, you know pretty much 100% that you're getting at least AS MUCH value as either of those games. So right there, it's already worth buying the base game.
Above the base game, the biggest thing is the action figure thing. Me, ever action figure thing i ever got in a CE is in a garbage can someplace. They all seemed cool when i was buying them, but i'm not the sort of person to put them up on display and enjoy. I have friends who are the opposite, they may not even play the game, but they love having a gallery of this stuff. If you have a nice spot on your trophy shelf for this figurine, then buy CE. Otherwise, just buy the regular edition.
If you're in the bracket of people that think "Mass Effect + WoW = greatest thing ever", then there is very little chance that this game will disappoint you, so you're probably safe investing in some of the fluff digital stuff for years to come. However, if you're a KOTOR fan who's not really into MMOs or a WoW fun that's not really into Mass Effect or just generally aren't sure, then chances are that you may end up not playing this game for a long time, so it's probably a waste of money.
Anyhow, just my 2 cents. I've personally bought tons of CEs for different games. When i look at it in retrospect, none of them were really worth it and the games that i still play, i no longer use any of the digital freebies. So i'll be buying the cheapest possible version of the game.

I'll be pre-ordering the digital deluxe edition as soon as I get the chance. It has all the in-game stuff I want and none of the fluff I don't. I'm not worried about the figurine or books or soundtracks so the CE isn't for me. The digital download, OTOH, is definitely mine.
ill be buying the collector's. $150 isnt really all that much money and they are offering quiet a lot of swag

That depends. I know that I will spend enough time on this game to justify buying the digital deluxe edition because I'm sure I'll play through all the storylines and it is almost guaranteed to give me several months of entertainment value.
That is a personal thing though.
But no, the CE is simply too expensive and I don't give a damn about frakking toys.
Feel free to use my referral link for SW:TOR if you want to test out the game. You'll get some special unlocks!
Are you buying this because its a "WoW-murderer"? Wait for reviews
Edit :
Its a must buy if youre an obsessed Star Wars collector.
This .
I wont be touching any pre order anyway , i did it with WAR and i got screwed. ended buying a copy at my local ebay and received the CE like a month after game was release ...
I pre-ordered the Deluxe Digital Edition a couple hours ago. Confirmed. Only thing I will miss from the CE is the map. Not particularly interested in the rest. Put that stuff up on the MT store if someone is interested. I would be willing to pay for the map. Figure is an Imperial and I prefer the Republic, although I will alt some imperial characters in game.

I am going with a CE myself. $150 is not that much compared to the money that I spent on my Alienware box. I will most likely give the statue to one of my nephews who is a big SW fan. For those who still want the electronic goodies there is the $80 digital deluxe edition.

I can't really afford 150$ for a CE, but i will be preordering the normal version the moment it becomes available.
Unless they wait a few more months and the exchange rate of USD to local currency keeps crashing down 8-10% a month like it did in the last few ^_^
