Will you be playing DotA 2 when it's released?

Just wondering how many people from here plan to. I know it's not an MMORPG but..

Will you play it? Especially if you currently play a different moba game like LoL or HoN, are you going to switch? I honestly don't know if I will since the dev's are using all the current heroes(and more most likely). I really enjoy playing LoL since the heroes are so much more unique than other games.. I remember getting bored of DotA's heroes and I can't imagine going back, even if the game is a standalone with updated graphics, etc.

What do you think? Is it going to be worth going back and playing with the same heroes from YEARS ago? :)

Like you, I am playing LoL and really enjoying it and the heroes. Granted I've only played since May, they have a ton of heroes and release a new one every 2-3 weeks. Pretty impressive :) I also got tired of DoTA's heros after playing it for like 5-6 years. It's nice to have something different and I really like LoL's free2play model/micro transactions. Doesn't give people any advantage, you just look cool with skins and stuff :)

I will definitely have to check out DOTA, but if it's just a copy of the original with update graphics and options, then no. I am intrigued to see the 6v6 though if that is the case (leaked images showed a 12 person match, whether that is 6v6 or 5v5 with 2 observers is another story :P).

    For now, loving LoL.

I play Lol ocassionally as I just don't have the time for the long games so I don't think I'll really change unless DOTA 2 is amazingly better, but I'm just a casual RTS fan and I think all the hardcore guys will definitely give it a shot.

I've really gotten into the RTS, MOBA games thanks to LoL.

If DoTA 2 lives up to the hype, I'm all in for it.

I have never played DoTA, however, there is a slight chance it will not interest me.

I'll atleast buy it. dota 1 was one of the better games for me and i played it couple years on and off and naturally i have tested hon and LoL but I have to say for my taste LoL is too casual.

also  dota 2 will have much more possibilities than dota 1 development vice (obv) so I actually hope that it will continue dota 1 development with better graphics and engine.

whatever the case will be consider it's valve making it. dota2 will be worth the money

My answer is yes. I really wanted this to happen long time ago. (standalone client with better graphics) Now i play lol, but sometimes i get frustrated because of game mechanics and same items... Commonly you go ap or ad... Lol item variation is  bland. Otherwise, Dota item range and mechanic is just awesome. Oh forgot to mention LOL item stacking... stupid thing... if hon would be free i would ditch lol till dota 2 comes out

@mari2k nah, dota 2 is "defense of the ancients 2", the first one is currently a warcraft III custom map :P

there are some good things like you said about the ad/ap items, being somewhat bland, etc, that are hopefully different in dota 2.. although there are rumors that the game will have a monthly fee, or you need to buy it. i'm kinda leaning at  no if it costs money.

it's just really hard to choose between: 1. lol/hon with different heroes/items,  2. same heroes/lore(probably, if anyone even cares), same items probably, updated graphics, and being loyal to the dota name..

has anyone else heard anything about the price of dota 2? would be great to know if it was going to be f2p with maybe a similar cash shop for different skins or something

yes. been playing dota since 2005, so dota 2 is kind of my most anticipated game ever. i dont really care about hon or lol, they're just weak clones if you ask me. Better for new players, but who likes those? ;) (dont worry, im not the flamer-type, although you do suffer hard in 9/10 dota matches...)

I especially dislike "lol" just for the name...

Icefrog + valve is pretty much the best thing that can happen to a game, so it's bound to be awesome.

And finally i will be able to play against/ with people of my own skilllevel again...thats the hardest part of dota. No decent platform/ ranking system. Dont get me started on dotaleague, dotalicious, garena or dotapickup...

It will definetly cost money. But i sure there wont be monthly fee. That would be just stupid...

@Olanis Disliking game just for its name is retarded :)

Its not new game. Its good old dota. So if you cant play real dota you wont be good at dota 2. End of story.

first of all i face roll people in Dota and no it wont be the same old Dota...

If it was the same shit why would anyone bother? better graphics? The game needs to be similar enough yet different enough to pick up new players and keep old ones interested that have been playing for years.
