A bit concerned about september beta for pre orders.

I am a bit concerned about the pre orders september beta login. I mean I hope the login does not explode from 2 million + pre orders this september.

Any of you concern about the login system in place for the september sneak peak? pre order beta access event even.

No.   They said they'd be letting players in little by little.  They aren't going to open up the gates for millions of players on the first play weekend.

And even if they did... isn't testing the system part of the point? The reason games open up to the public during beta is so they can get their servers hammered and see if new problems crop up.

Pre-Ordering does not grant you access to the "Beta Test Weekends" in any form as stated here:

As anticipation grows, BioWare also proudly announced today that Star Wars: The Old Republic will open "Beta Test Weekends" starting this September. These weekend play sessions will be open to selected players worldwide and create an opportunity for fans to get a sneak peek of the epic stories, worlds, quests, battles and characters in the game.

Pre-Ordering will grant you early access to the game and an in-game color stone as stated in the article. Players for the Weekends will be selected by random as they have always been my Bioware, as well as the amount of players.

  • the beta weekends aren't for pre-orders. they are picking people out of those signed up for testing on the official site

edit: ettl beat me to it XD

Also bioware had stated they have more then enough servers to keep up with the people they have pre orders. So much so that people who had pre registered there code as of yesterday were almost all day 1 or day 2 at latest on the early acess part.

Chances are that if you pre-ordered, you won't be invited to the Sept. betas. Why? Because they already know they got you, and they'd rather convert some undecided people to their game.

All the pre-order does is let you have a spot in the early access which comes a few days (i've heard 6) before the game comes out.

That isn't the september weekend which is something different. Like others stated if you signed up for testing then you are considered but not gaurenteed a spot. The pre-order does nothing to affect this as all it does is give you a chance to get into the game early when the game comes out (whenever that is.)

As for the servers itself which is the core part.  They may let people trickle in but i personally think this is the stress test they were talking about. They mentioned that they have over a millino people signed up and what better way then to let some of those million people into the game for the weekend to try out the game and for them to test their servers.

Help me Bioware, you're my only hope.

Is ToR going to be good? Dude it's Bioware making a freaking star wars game, all signs point to awesome. -G4tv MMo report.

I think people are confusing the promise of early access to pre-orders for the September beta weekends. Early access and beta weekends are not the same thing. Only those who have registered to test the game will recieve invitations for the beta weekends. Also the beta weekends are not an open beta, it will basically be large closed beta events to stress test the servers.

I'm also betting the NDA will be lifted at or just before these beta weekends. Otherwise they'll be getting all kinds of contradictory leaks from people who have only played one or two days at a time and suddenly think they know everything about the game and want to tell the world.
