I was in this!
Check it out!
yunno if anyone is looking for a game they have not tried or wants to take another look at this is the one to look at , its nothing like the game at launch its worth playing now its a great game and one of the better pvp games around by far
I agree completely... even my friend enjoyed it!
AoC was alaways worth playing and paying for playing, i'm yet to understand how the fact of it going F2P will make it any better as a game
I dont think it has made or will make it a better game, but in the long run they will gain more subs this way because many were dishearted when the game launched and had bad memories to relate to when even thinking of coming back.

More players = larger server community and more active and lively servers = livelier ingame world + easier grouping = better game
@OP: nice job, but I kinda had expected more show around of various gameplay aspects or environments in AoC, while effectively it's just a slice of 10 min of unedited gameplay. Nothing wrong with that though.

Yeah I normally dont do scripted stuff like most youtubers do... partly because as a major in Broadcasting/Film I cant script my self haha. So ive been tryin to build good habits. Ty
It;s not f2p that makes the change, it's the new ruleset.

Well before the F2P was just a trial but people like micro transactions more than P2P. Just look at Runescape, Perfect World, And the list goes on.
What i meant was, the game itself didnt cahnged, it allways been there, the mechanics fight etc.. only the ruleset on the new B&G pvp server, and from all what i've read FC did a good job on showing that this game still kiks ass.
For thsoe who tought that the population was that bad all i can say is that on Crom i never, and i say never add a problem on getting a full party in under 30 minutes, sometimes more on the 24 man...but hey i remember waiting more in WoW to get a 25 man going...so whats the fuzz !! ^^
As for the new freemium model...well all F2P are an ilusion cuz in the long run you will end up spending the same or even more for the same ammount of playing time, the only thing is worth taking from the shop is actualy the mounts, this will take out a lot of faction grind for a lot of ppl
I agree, I understood what you meant sorta. As for the micro transactions you can get all the way to max level with only having to pay about 15 dollars. Then after that you have to start subscribing, but for only 15$ (Rise of the Godslayer xpac) thats not to much to ask for a trial of your game. Im really for these type of systems, but not in all games because if your game gets the point where u have to do this, then you know it failed and you know you must change in some way. From the reaction of the players I think this was the right move for sure.
Thanks for the comment!

What server are you all playing on? Im playing on Fury!
F2P restricted to few classes, item cash shop that offers pay2win pvp gear.
It's still the same crap game it always was.
I dont PVP ..so is it still worth coming back for a person who played the first 3 months, left.. came back 6 months later for a month.. and left again...
will i get enough from it do you think to warrant the time to re-immerse myself?
Thanks
A quick 'review' of the 'relaunch' from my perspective...
It's a decent game. I'm playing it right now on the B&G 'Rage' server, and last time I played it was at launch. I can say the game changed a fair bit since then, some for the beter, most notably in PvE with the addition of a sizable list of PvE dungeons and zones, but some for the worst aswell, as you are looking at a huge grind in faction points and alternate advancement points, mostly the later if you intend to stay competitive in PvP (note: you also need to buy the expansion for this aswell as have an active sub).
Funcom is still Funcom, anyone with past experience with this company should take note that they are still the same greedy bastards that pull the same marketting tricks they always had. 'F2P' as they call it is nothing but a timeless trial with a large list of limitations, including ones not listed. You got no hope of playing competitive as an 'F2P' player. To add to that, the itemshop features pay2win items such as self-ressurection potions not obtainable ingame, and complete tier 1 PvP sets for 50-60 euro, and let me tell you right now over half the players you fight in minigames at level 80 will wear full sets of this, and rape you. Thankfully, obtaining PvP 2-set items isn't too difficult and those are a lot beter than the first set, but time will tell when Funcom decides to also sell this set in the store (and I'll cancel my sub the day that happens).
I can't really comment on the PvE side of things as I have not done much of it.
Still, that's the negative. The positive is the game plays alright and functions as a good filler untill some beter games come out.
if it kicked ass it would'nt be F2P
Of course, but F2P is a way to grow a community. Look at LOTRO, wasnt the best game at launch, but over time its proven to be a good alternative or even a main game for some. I play it every now and then and I hated launch but love what they have done in the F2P system.
Conans the same thing, I actually bought Age Of Conan on launch to see that it was completely unplayable, now over time Funcom has increased the games quality, but increasing the games quality doesnt take the bad taste that was left in previous subscribers, thus they had to make it F2P to grab a new audience and to grow back their previous one.
Thanks,
Zach Sharpes
In my honest opinion any game that is F2P you should go back and try again just to see what they did and see if they aquired the feel that you wanted as a subscriber. Plus it also only takes about a 2 hours to download, so its not that bad of a turn around.
Thanks,
Zach Sharpes
Im playing as a result of it being f2p now. reason I didnt appeal a couple years ago was that it needed too much hardware - now everything is maxed out + a couple years of fixing and extending the game, and it plays well with its originsal adult themed content. If it was released in its current state as a new game you could see it taking a Rift sized share of the market, and that for a game several years old.
rpg/mmorg history: Dun Darach>Bloodwych>Bards Tale 1-3>Eye of the beholder > Might and Magic 2,3,5 > FFVII> Baldur's Gate 1, 2 > Planescape Torment >Morrowind > WOW > oblivion > LOTR > Guild Wars (1900hrs elementalist) Vanguard. > GW2(1000 elementalist), Wildstar
Now playing GW2, AOW 3, ESO, LOTR, Elite D
The game is free to play now. Fire up the game and find out? You would need to state the reasons why you left AoC for folks to give you valid input on a decision to return.
Strongly recommend AOC. If you look at my sig ive played a bit, and I am finding myself enjoying and actually getting imemrsed! in AOC lore, adult theme and good gfx is making a difference.

I played the original trial sometime after launch. I liked the game then, but ended up going back to WoW. I got very excited when I heard it went F2P, so I downloaded and gave it another try. I really don't like how you can only pick 3 classes in the F2P version. Because of that, I'll be uninstalling AoC for a better true F2P to try. If more classes were unlocked, and I could play one that I wanted to, then maybe I could get to a high level and then find subscribing worthy. I just don't see a point in really getting into AoC unless you pay, and I still have my WoW account so that is going to be happening anytime soon.
1.) Please tell me what Game Company isn't greedy for money. All game companys are greedy. They are in the buisness of making money.
2.) tell me what pvp mmo you have ever played and just got to lvl cap, or just got into that tier, and didnt get owned against other players because they were better geared then you? All pvp mmos are like that now a days. The only PvP MMO's I had ever played that were not like that were Shadowbane, and darkfall online.
3.) The market place sells vanity items there is no pvp sets you can buy. Most of that armor has crappy stats on it.. its all for looks. and dosnt give you any sort of advantage against other players in the game. I have no idea were you came up with the idea that the marketplace sells Tier PvP sets. There is no tier PvP sets on the marketplace Just some blues and vanity armor. Ressurection potions hardly do crap as well, and neather does the +4% dodge rating potions. I don't see how thats pay to win. at lvl 80 none of thet stuff even really does anything for your characters or gives you an advantage over others.
Sorry for coming across like a jerk but I'm just so sick of people whining about market place stuff in these MMO's. None of that crap on the marketplace is pay 2 win. If you play the game long enough you should already know that.
