I am really looking forward to this.  I murdered my family so that I could have more free time to play it.

Strange may be on to something with his November 25th release date. I'm Thinking very late October, Early November, or more likely late November :)

I do't care about the pre-order issues, but listening to some of the design choices reminded me of 2004.  Lack of dual specs (WoW) and "legacy" (CoH) concerns me greatly.

I'm for flexability and fun.  Forcing me to spin a mouse wheel to get to fun is bad design and it sounds like TOR is taking that route.

As for beta, yeah, I want to see the game before I buy it.  MMOs and TOR specifically are doing the same thing as every other MMO.  They hide behind an NDA until the very end of developement.  There's very focused media coverage that may not necessarily represent the game.  Recently, AoC, TR and WAR come to mind.

Basically, players end up blindly buying a product that they may not be able to even play 30 days later if even the core game doesn't justify a $15/mo investment.  Is $50 for previous MMO box and now $60 reasonable for access to the game for 1 month?

If you don't worry about it, it's not a problem.

People have been "SPECULATING" about the Legacy system a long time now. AND EVERYONE SAYS ITLL BE A UNLOCK OF ANOTHER RACE.

Lets not pretend you came up with that all by your self there, Mr. Author. You sure are alluding to it, but when called out, will backpeddle....

Sorry, just hate when people try to take credit for something they havent  contributed to....

Whatever happened to the IN BIOWARE WE TRUST signatures?

I wanted to order directly from Origin so I got the Digital Deluxe Edition.  I've pre-ordered the last 4-5 MMOs I've tried.  And while the $75 price is a bit steep I expect to get my money's worth in entertainment.  Besides the only way most of us will get an early peek at the game is through this deal.  So If you really are looking forward to it... You just do what you gotta do! :-)

The biggest discusion on the forums has been over the Red Zone issue, although the last post I saw mentioned they would not be IP or CC blocking, which is good news.

150 bucks site unseen?  I don't have than much faith in Bioware for its first MMO if it can be called that?

  • Stryfe6Stryfe6 Member Posts: 12

I pre-ordered the CE and that is like 240 $ where I live, but since I plan on playing until the they shut it down I dont mind. :)

Of cause we know all the factors when we pre-ordered, I am just of the mindset that a Bioware game is going to be fun to play from what I have seen and that is enough for me to get it.

Usually when you pre-order a MMO you at least know when it will launch, how much it will cost you.

Most of us know just enough ....

    1) November roughly ... good enough for me

    2) 15 bucks more than likely give or take a buck

    3) More than likely, vanity stuff

    4) 3-6 days is a good bet again

Enough info for me to make a decision on a game I'm deifnitely getting. If that wasnt good for you or others, no need to pre order.

deluxe edition. I have to buy 2 so no way I'm dropping 300 bucks especially when I don't care about half of what's in the CE. Which doesn't bother me, its a CE, its for collectors ... so good on Bioware kicking off the cash flow with a bang.

The point someone made about SWG being turned off Mid-December is probably the only thing that makes me think it won't be a Mid-November launch. But then, would a BioWare game worry about an SOE game? They're both LucasArts, for sure... But how much does that matter? Depends who's making the decision. And would they let something like that dictate a sales release schedule that could result in the loss of quite a few sales, by missing the November/December sales? It's interesting to speculate for sure. Interesting to watch the next couple of months to see if BioWare actually DO listen to the Beta Testers. They get a lot of love from gamers, mostly. To NOT listen to them would be damaging long term.

    Beta for September

Release date first/second week in October

3-6 week then release in November

All the news, especially the possible inclusion of a solo endgame was positive

    Pre-order DDE - done

Ready to play when it launches - naysayers/complainers/whiners/ragers ignored

It's asinine to believe that the release date of SWTOR is linked in any way to the closing of Galaxies ie-waiting for Galaxies to close before launch.

License for Galaxies expires in december, subscriber base too small and expected to crash with release of SWTOR.

    End of story.

The launch will be in early December, I reckon.

Limited closed beta in September - October, Open beta in November and then release.

I've been wrong before mind you :)

They have already stated that there will "not" be an open beta, instead they will have beta weeks starting in September. How long that will last is anyones guess, after that they will start preparing for headstart. So chances are it's closer to a late October (doubtful) to early Novemeber release. Either way we will know in September which is not far away.

Standard, CE would have been 210~ dollars prior to shipping, not happening.

AC respec needs to have a limited number of uses, and a credit cost alone is useless, might aswell say you support goldsellers, i guess i mean creditfarms :)

Listen to what the Razor rep says at 4:30. Now granted its a Razor rep and not a bioware rep, but it gives you a good idea  :)

It's Star Wars. That's good enough reason for some people.

I am really dissapointed that MMORPG.com has not yet reported anything about the fact that SWTOR is only being released in North America & selected European territories...... all these other English speaking territories miss out with no word on when those zones will see the game and basically no plans for release there yet either which likely mean 3-6 months away.

Being this is the biggest MMORPG release this year & something of an unprecedented move after recent years of globalised simultaneous releases of MMO's I had thought it might rate a mention ?

Yeah in fact im also amazed that noone managed to dethrone that mmo giant and will not be surprised if swtor made it.

But to tell the truth enough of this wow old crap. The game is fine but the graphics are so outdated that i feel like playing tetris.

I preordered the CE. I'm a Star Wars nerd, have been for over half my life now, and having played the TOR beta, and enjoyed it, I couldn't resist.

And for the contents, the price is actually low. Someone on the TOR forum analyzed it, and determined that it's actually underpriced, compared with the Digital Deluxe vs Digital regular, and the physical content.
