GW2 was announced in 07. Don't spread misinformation. As for pulling resources from GW2? I highly doubt it, NCsoft has already invested a large amount of money into GW2 and they would be completely stupid to pull the plug at this time.
Just an FYI, NCSoft is the publisher for GW2, Arena.net is the developer.
One of these new MMOs that NCSoft just announced is being developed by Carbine Studios, and the other might just be an in-house development.
It will not affect development on GW2.
Carbine has been developing there game for 4 years and has absolultely nothing to do woth ArenaNet there timetable ,development cycle or team .
Shhhhh, don't spoil the nay-sayers fun!
A man is his own easiest dupe, for what he wishes to be true he generally believes to be true...
^^^ What he/she said. Arena Net is the dev house for GW2, NCSoft is only the publisher. Think Bioware/EA for example.
You're wrong.
Also: No.
Hype train -> Reality
I can't see them releasing any games (NCSoft) within a few months of each other, else they cut into their own profits.
NCsoft publishes the game. ArenaNet develops it.
Does it effect a book if that books publisher is publishing other books? Does it matter that EA is publishing NUMEROUS games while helping out with SWTOR?
On a side note, if you want to spit things, spit them right. GW2 was not even announced 5 years ago.
Edit: Ikeda might not know how games are developed and published?

It's not uncommon for any software development team to reallocate resources after key milestones. For example if all design decisions have been made and implemented and you're just fixing bugs there isn't much point paying for a full team of lead game designers. Similarly, if most of your art or sound assets are done you don't need a full team to bring everything to a close.
Not saying GW2 is done with any of these things, but this is how software development goes. You invest your top resources in tackling the most difficult implementations and when you're confident that achieved your goal you allocate those resource elsewhere.
Moving resources is probably a good sign that key deliverables have been met. Or Arenanet is shutting down in preparation for a coming apocalypse.
bad publicity == publicity.
LFD tools are great for cramming people into content, but quality > quantity.
I am, usually on the sandbox .. more "hardcore" side of things, but I also do just want to have fun. So lighten up already
I'd imagine a City of Heroes 2 is underway as well?
I figure NCSoft moves around people to speed up things like merieke82 said, but I doubt they'll leave a team barebones. If you want to know what leaving a small amount of people to work on a product does, just take a look at Vanguard.
one word- bollox- they rely upon cashflow like every other business and that requires GW2 to work.

Believe it or not, companies have completely different/separate development teams for multiple products. Amazing, I know.
I think most of the shouting about EA is the fact that they tend to force games to be released early, try to milk as much cash out of games they publish in DLC etc, and that they meddle a lot with the games.
NCSoft, from what I can gather, take a hands off approach. They provide the resources such as technical support, servers, engine licensing and so on, but they leave it to the developers to shape the game and decide when it's ready.
This is just my understanding, based on what I have heard and experienced myself.

To a degree, depends how much of their capital they are pumping into a project. GW2 take a lot plus a lot of borrowing so stop being too clever for your own good. <- aimed at ith

so...why do people even care about this...what was it?...GW2? oh yes...because of ALL the MMOs still in developement, it has shown the most actual gameplay, the most interesting combat, the most innovation, and has the most accessible business model.
even so, I suppose you could argue that there are are other games that have features that are more appealing to others when compared to what GW2 has.
I used to TL;DR, but then I took a bullet point to the footnote.
too cleaver for his own good?
candidate for worst advice ever!
I did not read all the replies to this thread... but ....
NCsoft is not the DEVELOPER of GW2 or any other MMO they are PUBLISHING. NCsoft is like EA or Activision, they PUBLISH games.
So how does this matter if they have GW2 and thirteen other MMOs that they are publishing ? It does not, except maybe advertising focus might get a bit fuzzy.
AHHH SKY IS FALLING !!!
Lolipops !
I would say who the publisher is has more of an impact on the level of hype & anticapation, as well as the reputation & expectations of the game being developed, as it is commonly expected that the publisher pulls many a developer's strings.
However, if Arena Net is focusing strictly on GW2, and these other NCSoft published titles are being developed by other dev studios, that in itself should have next to no effect on GW2 itself. If NCSoft somehow gets Arena Net to contribute to the development of one of those new titles (before GW2 is launched), then you might have a cause to worry.
Keep in mind too that a lot of SWTOR naysayers are shouting doom and gloom mostly irrespective of the fact that Bioware is also working on other titles like ME3 while working on SWTOR,
Either this is a blatant troll attempt or you have no idea how a game studio works. The others have already explained it to you.
haha don't see cleaver there, but possibly the best advice I have ever given
