I can see how most will choose classes from the Empire. If your rolling on a PvE server this would be no concern for you or would it with trying to find groups? If your on a PvP server and you chose the Republic will you be totally out numbered by the Empire?
How will this effect game play later on? Will this end up like Warhammer where most chose to be Destruction and killed RvR?
Should there be a Empire and Republic population limit set on the PvP servers?

Won't know yet until you play. I don't think the public knows how world pvp works yet.
Aion made a good choice for handling this. When you try to create a new character on one side, a check is made and if there are too many people on the side you choose, they will tell you to either create a toon on the opposite side or wait until the sides are closer to the same number.
It would be interesting to see actual numbers. I personally want to go republic, but the empire does have a lot of interesting designs. Hopefully it will be balanced, and fun for everyone.
Though, I will say playing the less populated side, as long as its not full out dwarfed, normally makes PvP more fun in my opinion.

Being relatively nonconformist by nature, I very rarely play the "evil" faction in MMOs.
There should be the option for cross-faction guilds. Bountyhunters and smugglers are a good example here. These should be available for both sides and not tied to a faction.
This whole black and white faction thingy is making it way less interesting and if I like to play a smuggler and an agent as characters for example I'd like to have them both in the same guild.
I wouldn't count on either faction being dominant, except on a single-server basis.
And who knows, maybe they'll have a WAR-style choke on unbalanced-server-creation. "We're sorry, you cannot roll Empire until the server reaches at least a 52-48 balance again."
Self-pity imprisons us in the walls of our own self-absorption. The whole world shrinks down to the size of our problem, and the more we dwell on it, the smaller we are and the larger the problem seems to grow.
In the end it seems like the dark and the light side will eventually be ballanced...
Happened in most every game with ballanced content.
Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)
Currently Playing: World of Warcraft
Most of the polls on the official website tends to show a certain balance between the two factions.. Not really a concern to me..
.. And I'll play Republic btw..
And even if the Empire DID outnumber the Republic.....wouldn't that support the story to some degree??
Advice: don't worry about it.
