The in-game model for Deadpool in Gazillion Entertainment's upcoming Marvel Universe MMO has been unveiled.
Gazillion's Marvel Universe MMO will allow players to actually play as many of Marvel's most iconic characters, and this includes everyone's favorite merc-with-a-mouth, Deadpool. Shoryuken!

I've seen no information that you can make your own characters in this. Has anyone? Not at all interested in a game where I join a PUG and to say "hey Woverine1, hey Wolverine2..."

They've stated that, at least at the beginning, players will not be able to create their own characters, and instead will play with iconic Marvel characters. Supposedly the game will offer more choices in Marvel characters than any other single Marvel-based game to date.
They haven't explained how this will work yet. Actually, they have put out very little information about this game, other than the above, and that it'll be F2P from the start (and that Brian Michael Bendis is writing the story). I believe Dr. Doom is the main, overarching villain.
Still, I'm interested in seeing what they do with this title. Given the design decisions, it might not be more-of-the-same.

I get what you're saying, and personally I'd prefer to be able to make up my own character as well.
But this isn't supposed to be a clone of DCUO Legends play (which I agree is lame). While these are pregenerated characters, the player is supposed to be able to develop them in-game. They have not stated how this will work yet, unfortunately.

on one hand having new user created characters can really harm the game right at the beginning, seeing a raid full of deadpools? or pvp arena everyone using wolverine or the same wolverine at that. and balancing can be of a concern as well.
cmon, why balance the game when everyone can just pick dark pheonix and press the I win button all day...

Now on the other hand, it could be something interesting, but again balance would definitely have to be a huge factor if this go this route:
Use every Marvel character in the entire history of Marvel, plus all the eras of each character (i.e. classic wolverine, weapon X wolverine, age of apocalypse wolverine, Zombie Wolverine, Jim Lee Wolverine etc. etc.) and trust me, there are so many friggin varients of marvel characters it even ranges to alternative dimensions including past and future renditions.
thats already topping the 100 mark of pool of characters that can be used when it comes to looks and design.
spiderman has what?... nearly 20 different versions of him? Bam 20 characters off the bat of spidey including some potentially different abilities to go with each of them.
Just sayin, of course in reality no way in hell they could pursue that, and many artists would die from attempting such a feat.
To bad they couldn't license Cryptic's character creator from PWI and use that as a starting point.
Having CO with a larger world, set in Marvel Universe, with no restrictions on cloning Marvel Characters would be very cool imo.

Agreed, Beanpuie - they have a LOT of stuff upon which to draw from many different characters. From the little they've stated, they appear to have access to the total Marvel history, including characters and settings.
This game looks like it will probably not be your "normal" MMO. That doesn't mean it won't be fun, and a different direction might be a nice change of pace for some.

marvel has been smart with movies, when it comes to the mmo genre, they are clueless.
I love super hero MMOs, City of X is still one of my favorit games and I still hand on the free version of CO. I evan gave DCUO a go.... but this game just doesn't intrest me at all.... one of the reasons I steped away from DCUO was the lack of options in the char creator... and this game doesn't even let you creat your own character?!?! It just seems like such a bone headed move!
I love Deadpool, but I'd rather meet him with my own self made character. No interest to play Deadpool.

There's no way I won't try the game since I grew up on Marvel comics but honestly I'm not expecting much. I have a hard enough time playing sinlge player rpg's where I can't make my own toon.
Want to know what it will be like? Go check out Marvel Super Hero Squad. Same developers, same type of game so far.

I have a copy of the Weapon X graphic novel sitting on an alter in my bedroom. My wife then bought me the X-Men Origins: Wolverine. I especially like the loving care that deadpool was given in the film. Very respectful. I always though he would look better naked with metre long adamantium blades coming out of his arms. That was class...

This game is just going to be like Super Hero Squad Online, but for teens and adults. Super Hero Squad Online works the same way. Kids play as there favorite Marvel super heros, but in the artistic style of the Super Hero Squad cartoon.
When we get back from where we are going, we will return to where we were. I know people there!
What a shame this is this best they can come up with for the Marvel IP. Such a waste.
Since you cant create your own character in this, I will not even try it. Propably the first criteria for a mmo to me is character creation, with more options the better. No char creation at all = no game to me.
Which is a shame since of all super hero worlds I find Marvel's the richest and best for a mmorpg. I cant understand why I shouldnt be able to create my own character in a world where they pop up like mushrooms after the rain by default... Oh well, let's hope they come into senses before wasting a lot of cash, time, and digital space for nothing
Its sad that most of us realises that this game will live a very short time whit very few people while still being developed perhaps if they chance focus to young teens and make gameplay fairly simple it might have some form of succes but I realy cant see how this game apeals to anyone who ever played a other mmog other then a sneek bordom peek.
Could be wrong ofc, plenty of folks around and weirder things have happent but meh I just dont get/see it.
It's pretty easy - a game doesn't have to be an MMO to be fun.
Granted, MUO will probably not play like the traditional MMO. Depending on how it's designed, that could be a very good thing for those tired of the more-of-the-same traditional style, and are looking for a different type of playstyle.
They haven't given any information on how the game will play. However it turns out, some will probably like it, others not. It'll be free to play, so I'm pretty sure I'll as least try it.

id deff play if this wasnt made / done like DC ..and more along the lines of a mmo of today
if there is no player creation then then they should have tons ..i mean TONS of diff odd and end marvel super heros / villians you can choose from but even then ..i can only see this as a f2p ..but im sure the will make it p2p just for the fact it has a huge following

Marvel, Marvel, listen to me very carefully. Yes, I know how much your characters mean to you, but that doesn't mean that anyone wants to play as them. The players want to make their own characters.
Now, I want you to look at that over there. You see it? Yes, Marvel, those are the X-Men and Brotherhood. That's right Marvel, the mutants. The perfect player made characters for a Marvel MMO. Yes, Marvel, I know how much you want to make everyone play as Wolverine, but bear with me for a moment. Can't you see what great potential the Mutants have as player characters? You can make classes with them, or let people make their own, or -- no, Marvel, Wolverine cannot be a class.
Look at the X-Men and the Brotherhood again. Do you notice anything? That's right Marvel, two factions. Great for PvP, right? What's PvP? Don't worry, we'll get to that later.

Can't wait to see thousands of Deadpools, Wolverines and Spider-mans running around. Would be a treat to see all of the variations of those names. I think I'm going to be LOLxDeadpooLxLOL.
I don't understand the big deal of Deadpool, but whatever, however what I really don't understand is why Marvel thinks we want to play a certain character in an MMO. I understand for the Super Hero Squad thing, because it was aimed at little kids...but why in an adult version...one of the biggest reason CO and DCU were praised was because of character customization.
