Even though I don't care about 0.0 (low sec for me with 0.0 roams) the article is good because it gives potential EVE players a glimpse into the player created content. The politics and strategic aspects of nullsec wars are one of EVEs defining features but you don't really see it in EVEs marketing much.
Great blog will be interesting to see more.
Currently playing:
EVE online (Ruining low sec one hotdrop at a time)
Gravity Rush, Dishonoured: The Knife of Dunwall.
(Waiting for) Metro: Last Light, Company of Heroes II.
Don't listen to the Doomsdayer's that talk about EvE Online coming to an end. EvE Online really hasn't begun to reach it's fullest potential. In a few months DUST 514 will be released in another first in the gaming industry. Dust 514 will incorporate two gaming platforms together for the first time. 514 will allow console gamers to interact with EvE Online Corporation's where Duster can be contracted out by the Corporation to assault and enemy fortification on a planet.
Dust 514 will be a first person shooter similar to many other FPS type games but unlike WoW Dust will make the leap and create a connection that will open up many new scenarios not just for CCP but for other games as well.

Yes, and while DUST 514 does look like fun, the reality is that its a *console* FPS, with no indication that it will ever come out for the PC. I don't care how well its done, console controllers are just not as good as a mouse and keyboard for an FPS. I've played a LOT of FPS games over the years, and I've always been disappointed by the console ones.
Not to mention, that the jury is still out on how well it will integrate into EVE's current game system. Remember the luke warm reception for PlanetVille?... ^^

Sadly this game is dying due to the company behind it beeing utterly retarded and laughing at their customer's face.
Has been a good run though.
I just mentioned what you said to the 50K+ people that are logged on right now, at the same time, and the only response was "pew pew" and "herp derp". Not sure what that means.
They can adjust a game all day, but they can't help the issue between the keyboard and the chair. Played: UO, DAoC, AC, WoW, EVE, TR, WAR, Aion, Rift, SWTOR, GW2, TSW, ESO, Elite:D Play EVE for free for 21 days

Thing is, you may personally prefer FPS game son PC, but its pretty obvious consoles dominate the market when it comes to FPS games lately. For example:
Call of Duty: Black Ops copies sold:
PS3 - 10.39 million
XBOX 360 - 12.78 million
PC - 1.15 million
Wii - 1.01 million
I mean come on, its BARELY outselling the Wii version of a game, and both PS3 and 360 have sold around 10x the number of PC. You may no tlike it, but console is clearly the way to go if they want th egame to be succesful. Judging by the numbers of games like COD, its almost not even worth it for them to develop it for the PC and just stick to consoles. Seems CCP probably realized that much and decided to dedicate to the platform it will sell best on, rather than ruining 1 version or the other with a crappy port.

My point was entirely about which platform an FPS works best on. Anyone who has played both, knows that mouse/keyboard is much better functionally. So much so, that they seldom mix the two (in FPS games) because the console types are at a big disadvantage.
As for the numbers, that doesn't surprise me at all. Nor does it surprise me (these days) that CCP would make their decision based upon those numbers. People and companies change over time, and not always for the better.

I think it was the sound of 50 thousands characters not giving a fuck about what the protesters are crying about. We're sorry CCP thinks of you as customers and not best friends, we're sorry the vanity items that you supposedly don't care about cost so much, you can start mowing lawns and borrow your parents credit card if you really need to accessorize your space barbie that bad.
As an old EVE-player (retired), I must say it warms my heart to see Deklein region still live up to its old traditions of incredible stubbornness and wall-to-wall badassitude on occasion. Having stood my vigils at the VFK gate in the past, I had goosebumps reading about the massive fleet gatecamps and fights in that system.

This, gentlemen, is what we call astroturfing.
