Should have made a preview for AC2

ElapsedElapsed Member UncommonPosts: 2,329

I think AC2 had a lot better chance to gain subscribers than AC1 has. Sure AC2 has free trial but labeling it PREVIEW gets everyone excited! Too bad Turbine did little advertising or hype for AC2's expansion. Also good thing they signed with Sony, seems like that did a lot, at least in AC2's case ::::29:: Another chance lost, maybe by the time DDO and LotRO come out Turbine will fully have their act together. I'll give them credit the AC1 preview is a good gimmic and a step in the right direction.

So, what's going to happen to AC2? It's sad to say but I think it's obvious that AC2 is going to be the first Turbine game to shut down someday. Unless DDO and LotRO are flops, which is highly doubtful, the names alone will carry them for a while. I see Turbine investing more into recovering DDO or LotRO flopping than putting any more into AC2. Unless someone here has read something official about Turbines plans for AC2? Another expansion in a 6 months or a year?

The community in this game is still way to big and loyal to get rid of the game; the servers cost hardly anything to run in comparison to the monthly fees, so I doubt they would get rid of the game all together since there are still games floating around from 1985 on the internet.

Just a thought.  Post ur replys.

No it won't be shutting down any time soon but it will be the first. They won't shut it down before LotRO and DDO are up and running. If DDO and LotRO are big successes, Turbine will probably just keep AC2 going by leaching off of the other games funds. If DDO and LotRO turn out to be AC2 repeats, I bet AC2 is the first to go. DDO and LotRO are much more viable franchises to save at this point.

And the community is way too big? Hardly, EA has shut down 3 games with communities this size. If EA's games couldn't survive with their much larger resources, I don't expect Turbine to. They will probably start cutting back on content even more at some point if the community grows any smaller. A server is not cheap, neither are the people working on AC2.

    How do you grow smaller?

    Explorer: 80% // Achiever: 53% // Socializer: 33% // Killer: 33%

I get the feeling you had your mind made up before you even started playing. The expansion added some stuff but didn't change the game play a lot. If you didn't like AC2 to begin with, the expansion probably isn't going to change your mind. It was still an improvement though, I give Turbine credit for at least putting a little effort out to save the game. Too bad no one cares to give it a chance anymore.

If you played pre-expansion to post-expansion, all they did was move HoD into desolation, add maybe 3-4 interesting quests, and leave it at that. Atleast that was what changed for anyone 65+, which most of your gameplay will end up at those levels because 95% of your leveling will be based off of complete grinding... You can quest to 60 in WoW

Honestly, not worth the time or money to play that game... After over a year of it, i am more than done with the skilless grind.

While the level 65+ game may be lacking, you can start new characters of Empyrean and Drudge, and probably have months and months of fun just playing those.

Why? I shouldn't have to. Or maybe they should have made the level cap @ 65 so pvp can be more even instead of having some 80's running around when your not even close to their level to scratch them.

Least if pvp was more geared @ skill instead of the FOTM class and people who have no lives, the game may have been better.
