SWTOR: My 3 cents

I am simply excited about the game because it's Star Wars, too bad for those of you that aren't interested in SW, interesting universe. Aside my natural excitement being a fan of Star Wars there are quite a few features I find to draw me into the game even more.

The idea for 15 years of future updates and having up to 500 explorable worlds. SWG was awesome in the fact you have a bunch of big expanse planets to explore. Even if many of these will be linear railed instanced or what have you planets, that is still awesome to me.

I am a pretty avid MMO player, I started gaming on a c64, and have pretty much tried em all just for kicks and I am just sort of tired of fantasy and the same old same old, having linear story driven quests is fine with me. From what Bioware has done in the past these story arcs are quite engaging and make me want more, I see nothing wrong with that.

I have 2 fairly high end machines and I love to see nice gfx in my games. That being said the graphics in SWTOR aren't as bad as I see all the people QQ'ing. It's cartoony yes, but somewhat gritty, smooth, different, I think it looks pretty good.

I can go on and on about a lot of the things I like about the game, but I'll spare you.

If you don't like the game don't play it. It will succeed, it already has succeeded.

I think it will succeed, it just won't be anything new.

I will play it for the story though as I like the KOTOR games and bioware knows how to write, nuff said.

As for star wars as a whole, it's a fucking mess. If George Lucas wasn't involved it would've been so much better, in fact whenever something is good about star wars, like The Empire Strikes Back, my gut is telling me Mr. Lucas had nothing to do with it.

Yes, I am in the same boat as you are. Being a SW fan only makes the game that much more exciting for me. Not only that, A Solid story line driven MMORPG has never been tried before, and if anyone bioware can deliver.

As far as GFX go, a lot of the people qqing are people that don't understand what actually goes into developing a game like this.. It's been in development for probably 5 years, so they are using the best engine available at the time they started the coding. but none the less, they look fine, and I can distinguish different types of armor unlike some games.. so I'm good with the GFX. Also the effects look mind blowing as well.

I am confident that SWToR will do fine along with it being an alright game. Having a KotOR with an end-game is going to be awesome.

And to add my 3 cents......

I'm also excited, but for me the most important will be how they handle the dynamic fight/struggle with Jedi vs. Sith in the world of SWTOR, and I for sure aint talking about battlegrounds.

Can they do that in a meaningful way.......... I'm convinced and will toss in my quarter as well!

What else do you have that comes in sets of 3, instead of two?

I have always wanted a girl with 3 breasts... I remember that being in a sci-movie of some sort. Ah, blasted memory. All I remember is the 3 breasts.

The graphics in SW:TOR are fine.  The environments are actually down right impressive, but the character models are a little on the weak side.

Actually it was an early design decision. They wanted cartoony or if you like "WoW" style graphics because they age better than trying to go with "photorealistic" which makes engines looked dated within a year or two. To some extent the art style also stays true to Kotor 1 & 2.

It was also decided they wanted the game to run well but still look good on older and lower spec systems so they could appeal to as large a customer base as possible, the same way that WoW does.

I guess a lot of the folks QQ'ing about the graphics did not experience the horrors of the AoC launch, where its cutting edge graphics were making people crash & having to rollback to different driver versions depending on their video cards etc etc.

    Here's "my 3 cents"

For me, I love to play MMO's for just about every other aspect not pvp.  I like pvp only when I'm in the mood to pvp which isn't every time I log into the game.  I love MMO's for the versatilty to be able to do what I want that console games don't provide.  I like to craft, and barter, and meet new people, and be creative with a housing system, and sometimes I just like to hang out in the main town and model my new digs.  I love when others stop to inspect me even if they don't like my style.  Above all else, I love to be entrenched within a deep story line surounded by a rich environment.

All these reasons are why I'm excited about SWToR!  I really don't care how much SWToR is like WoW.  Afterall, it's been years since I played WoW and I don't even think I reached lvl 10.  You think I give a poo about relations to WoW?  Combat is slow? Really? When I first started playing rpg's, they were turn based.  SWToR can't be any slower than that.

Maybe I'm excited to play a MMORPG that's putting an emphasis on the RPG.  Running around kiting and zerging is not my idea of RP'ing.  Spending hours running from public quest to public quest is not my idea of RP'ing.  Sitting around in a PVP queue is also not my idea of RP'ing.  SWToR is my idea of RP'ing and I can't wait to RP in a Massive Multiplayer world.

I have beta tested my fair share of games in my lifetime, and not once do I remember the Beta graphics of a MMO being the same at release.  I'm sure they will further polish the game before it's released.

ya but with swtor coming out, if its a hit on a wow esque scale, and it has the potential to be so reguardless of the h8ers nay saying, mr lucas may actually surpass bill gates in terms of liquid cash hehe.  damn him but he dont deserve it because half the time he screws up star wars stuff (the jar jar binks movies, nuff said)
