I know that we've had this question before, but it's been awhile ,we now know all the advanced class choices and the game is now taking pre-orders. I know that most will be having alts, but I'm interested in knowing which class makes you want to play it first. For me it's bounty hunter.

Currently Playing: World of Warcraft

For me, my first toon will be the Jedi Consular (Sage).  I love the healer type myself and the thought of using telekinesis to close wounds and knit flesh together is kinda cool.  Not to mention using the force to buff and debuff.  After that I am looking at a trooper or smuggler.  The whole range tank and cover mechanics seem awesome to me.

I imagine that when the 12-13 yr olds get the game, we'll see that Jedi Knight figure skyrocket.

Don't think I haven't been sweating over that a little bit.  The first one killed in a fire fight is the radio man, the second is the medic.  Unfortunately this game doesn't have a radio man, so I get bumped up I guess.

I just hope smugglers have an ability to reveal stealthed classes, or someone does anyway. For some reason I could see that being a smuggler thing, even though it has nothing to do with smuggling lol. I guess it could come from gadgetry.

i dont know, i see smugglers being the kiddies that like to hide behind a small wall to avoid the sniper fire (imperial agent specialty is a sniper with BOOOOM HEADSHOT).  smugglers never struck me as terribly observant outside of what they can see or hear, and you simply cant see or hear a sith who is embraced by the nothingness of cold hatred in the void.  not until its far far to late at least.

Actually to be accurate, there are different specializations for smuggler, according to Zoeller (sp?) anyway. One build can run and gun, while another uses cover. I'd most likely opt for running and gunning.

I don't know about smugglers. But I think I saw a video where the troopers have that ability. They release a probe or something that scans an area, revealing any cloaked units.

As for my first class, it will probably have to be the imperial agent. I'm sure I'll roll a force user(s) at some point, but after playing games like jedi knight 2 / force unleashed, I'm just not sure they will feel as fun. There also aren't many games where you get to go out and hunt jedi either.

I dunno. I think it far more likely that the 'kids' of this game will be force users. Hard to say, but I think it might even be a fairly even spread between kids choosing jedi and sith.

wasnt refferring to age so much as childish tactics hehe, the smugglers are going to be the cowardly types trying to use cover to be all gears of war 3 on us.  i dont think itll be that effective outside of helping against bounty hunter or sniper frire though, lightning has a nasty habit of arcing to hit anyone near enough metal muahahahaha  and no meager wall can stop the power of truely strong hatred (or a well placed death field!)

One of the class videos on the swtor.com website (Jedi Knight or trooper I think) actually shows a trooper deploying something that negates a Sith Inquisitors Stealth ability.  It was awesome and the talk of the forums on that site when it was first shown.  Never did seem to make it over here though.

Not to burst your bubble here, but a good smuggler is one of the craftiest people you have ever met.  They are so good because they are thinking three steps ahead of their enemies and have already made plans for most contigiencies.  Granted sometimes even the best plans can get messed up, but if BioWare is really trying to be true to the "smuggler" type, then a smuggler WILL be able to nullify the enemies stealth.

smugglers wont have anti stealth because one of the smuggler role types is the good guys sides stealth class.  the trooper has the anti stealth for them.

We'll see I guess.  I'm just seeing how helpful it would be to knock a "competitor" out of stealth at exactly the wrong moment to get the upper hand.  Until we see a power progression chart though I guess it is really a moot point.

Surprised at the low numbers of Jedi Knights.

  • GMan3GMan3 Member CommonPosts: 2,127

I'm not.  Low number of votes AND this poll have been done at least twice now.
