i firmly believe arenanet would make huge gain by doing it dx11 only.some argu that not everybody in the world have dx11 card
the big market is asia and asia all play for the most part in net cafe!those net cafe are all dx11 ready !

Being that it's demo'ed on a gtx 295 at some of the conventions that would be a no.

Well Asia covers 8.6% of the Earth’s total surface area, has 4 billion people and counts for 60% of the human population, you can't rule out that they might make it DX 11 only. I just doubt it thought. Too many people out there can't afford the highest graphics cards to play with. Who am I to say though...since Asia has 4 billion people living there, I don't count for much. Haha.
Brilliant - absolutely brilliant.
First off, GW1 really isn't that big in Asia, and it is unlikely that GW2 will be a big deal in Asia as well.
Second, GW2 is going for style, not graphics, and doesn't need DX11. They are going for accessability.
Third, Anet would NOT make a huge gain by making it DX11 only...NO MMO is DX11 only...there isn't a market for that kind of thing.
I used to TL;DR, but then I took a bullet point to the footnote.
I agree with everything said in that post. GW comes off to me as a more Western style MMO.
And you just read this on Comic Book Guy voice
"I am not a robot. I am a unicorn."
Hope it aint dx11 only, i have card that can run it but i stil prefer xp over win7 since old game realy hates win7.
hard to say !i just hope it will be w7, dx11 only ,yes it will force some player to ugrade, but we were what 6 million at gw1 peak i doubt we would be more then 6 million at lunch (but i could be wrong)they still have what almost a year before lunch plenty of time for gamer to get what is needed if they trully dont have w7 and dx11
but it would remove a lot of potential program conflict.
To be honest making it dx11 only would hurt their sales. Making it dx11 capable wouldn't hurt at all.
My theme song.
Considering that Anet's policy is to make a great game that runs well on mid level machines, I would say they will definitely support DX 9 and possibly DX 11 (for those who run higher end machines). Most of the mid level machines I would bet still run XP which can't run DX 11
You want me to pay to play a game I already paid for???
Be afraid.....The dragons are HERE!
you really need to go read about what dx11 does. if you had a game with only dx11 you wouldnt have a game....
so there is a market for dx9 only mmo?mm from the list i saw you are probably right .most old or new mmo are dx9 with the rest as an after taught a thing they have to do but dont want to !
at the moment, a significant number of PC's still use XP... though microsoft is projecting that by the end of 2012 that will no longer be the case, once at least 90 percent of Microsoft OS based computers are either Vista or 7... microsoft will only support XP for next 3 years, thats likely to be the point at which directx 9 is no longer supported also. I think this is also one of the reasons why games currently support both directx9 and 11.. those that don't.... might have a problem.
i live in asia....and as far as im concerned NO one i know ever plays at net cafes.... soooo..... idk what you talking bout... also Anet is not and is not specifically catering to 'asian' markets. enough said!

check the first post graphic !they are testing wow!
that is one reason among the many too long to list!
Well for non MMOs it might not be a problem. Battlefield 3 and Arma 3 will not support XP.
The massive loss in sales alone would be reason enough for Anet not to use dx11 ONLY. It's just a bad idea all around.

lol w/e version of direct x GW2 runs on, it beats WOW's graphics anyday.... so i dont think its much of a worrying point at all... GW2's graphics look very good by any industry standards... and btw GW2 graphics will be very artwork oriented too...Dx9,10,11..meh if it looks great...i really dont care...
the game does not support DX11 at all. it's DX9 with DX10 support.
Just went to newegg to see what they have listed for DX11 cards and what the lowest cost is to get one. Lets just say "WOW!" You can get a dx11 card for $35, wouldnt be much of one, but you can get one. newegg has 431 cards available that are DX11 compatable.

Yeah but I wouldn't recommend picking up anything less than a gtx 460 if your looking for a low end dx11 gaming rig.

ya Dx 11 cards are not very expensive... but buying a gfx card merely becasue it supports basic DX11 is first of all a very bad way to select a gfx card and second of all, all the features the op expects from a DX11 like for ex: hardware tesslation etc. arent going to be fully handled by those cards cause those cards usually have very poor bandwidth ie DDR2 or something... so in effect really makes no sense buying a gfx card...
On another note....not everyone runs Win 7.... mind you a lot of the world are on XP still...altho i doubt many are on vista...so not only you gonna have to up your gfx card... you gonna have to get win7 to run DX 11
must admit i was surprised that they would develop a game already that did not support directx9.. given that the number of PC's running Vista and 7 combined is less than the amount that run XP.. .. though microsoft has projected that by the end of 2012, more PC's would be running 7 than XP.. kind of makes you wonder how many people who would have bought those games, will be prevented from doing so because of it.. when final sales figures are released, it should be interesting.. although.. as i would only have bought those games on steam anyway (i wouldnt touch the origin one with a bargepole) then that kind of rules that out anyway....

food for taught!
given the current financial situation.. i just don't see it.. maybe next year.. .. but only.. maybe.. microsoft isnt supporting XP for the next 3 years because they want to after all.. its because they have to.. its still the dominant Windows OS.. though a lot of that may be because Vista was such a disaster.. and 7 ..... for the price tag attached, doesnt represent much of an upgrade from XP.. if any. and with windows 8 on the horizon.. its quite likely that most are probably waiting for that.. rather than buying something that isnt really any better than the one they have already...
