I broke down and bought FF XIV today after watching a few very long and in depth videos on youtube highlighting the changes in patch 1.18. Appearantly Square Enix has only one payment method which after applying my CC info my account was immidiately blocked for what reason I dont know. On the blocked page was directions on how to un-block my account....
"Your account has been temporarily blocked by ClickandBuy. To unblock your account please contact the ClickandBuy customer service team at service@us.clickandbuy.com or call us at 1-877-265-7821"
After calling the 1-877 number and being placed on hold for 20 minutes x2 I finally got to talk to someone from Clickandbuy.com only to tell me I had to wait 3 business days for my micro CC transactions to show up on my bank slip. All this information I was recieving from "Peggy" lol, was in black and white on their webpage hence eliminating the need to phone support in the first place. Worst customer service experiance ever. I bought this game expecting to play it, not play cat an mouse with Customer Support. After 6 hours I have thrown my FF XIV in the circular file never to return.

if it is a prepaid credit card you need to register it on your credit card site for online transaction no biggy lot of site are like that !
Its not a pre-paid credit card, I have never had one of those. It's the same Mastercard I have used for years with no issues.
lololol Sorry, but why would anyone buy this game after hearing all the negative crap about it?
Did they really improve it much? And if so is it still f2p? May check it out, but tbh, I don't expect much. I too was disappointed when I bought this game but that was like a year ago or something.

mm not sure how it works but i had paid for it played 3 hour never played again came back not long ago and it was free till the dev was satisfied wirth their result .so far they werent satisfied!
It is indeed still free to play. It has come a long way since its launch and the recent 1.18 patch, but it still needs a good bit of work.
No doubt it's free to play but I didn't even get to play. You have to put in a CC to activate the account only.
1.18 was not an improvement. Not if you are trying to level as a caster. The two caster classes are completely borked now. I don't think they can realistically be used for leveling now. You have to level as melee and then level these classes up using melee skills, which is stupid beyond words.
All die, so die well.
Been playing it since release. It is not worth the price of the box. It is free to play still. I don't think it will ever be worth a sub fee. It is a better game than it was.

I just don't want anyone to be confused, this is absolutely not the case.
DoM are certainly great at leveling, extremely sought after by all parties, and the best solo classes in the entire game. I'm not sure what this posters problems with the classes were, but rest assured not many share them.

DoM were godly before patch 1.18 by all means def THM over CON, but still both.1.18 just brough them down to earth a bit more and made the jobs a bit more balances, but they are still some of the best easily. THM can still solo stuff 10-12 levels higher no problem.
The masses are not too bright in the first place. They really do not need to be fed misinformation on top of that.

I set up my account last week and was not required to enter in any cc or payment info at all.
When setting up your account you need to choose the "crysta"option and it'll give you a credit of exactly the amount needed to set up the account +1 character slot.
