should I come back

I need a game that I can kill time with, but when I initially started playing rift, only to level 22, it seemed very linear, and having only two starting zones made it difficult to try a different toon. Has this changed...at all?

Nothing has changed, but you can still certainly kill time in the game. You'll go hub to hub until you get to Scarwood reach, then you'll have a bit more choice as to which zones you want to go hub to hub completing quests in. The story does not vary, there is no replayability, and the endgame consists of completely blatant gear grinds.

If you got bored enough so that you quit after 22 levels it is just a waste of time to try it now. Maybe in a few years.

I just returned myself and after 3 days cancelled again. It's a very nice games and has a lot to do but the combat turns me off big time. I don't feel like fighting the combat animations are the worst of all games I ever played.

This game seems to be better suited for casual gamers and older players. No shortage of players though. My server is full and has has log ques at times. Hard core pros and kids seem to get bored here. Casual gamers thrive.

lol avoid SWToR then. I would stick to Korean games if I were you if you got a decent connection or wait for GW2 and pray it is not a complete failure. If animations is what you like then go for that.

Seriously, there's only 4 classes... leveling up 4 50's would be nowhere near as repetitive as most games. Give it an honest chance. I quit all my games the day Rift came out and have been playing it since and not regretting a single bit of it.

To the guy saying something about the combat not looking "cool" or whatever, It's apparent you didn't level very far. It may not be extremely flashy like some asian games out there like Tera, but it is far from bland. There's nothing like swinging around a missive polearm on my Warrior and, in case you didn't know, different fighting styles come with different types of weapons.

Rift has enough for me to do at all hours of the day and night. Long gone are the days of sitting around Org/Dal doing nothing when I played WoW. I was extremely bored in that game when I wasn't raiding... dailies became a miserable chore... and the pvp wasn't very fun. But in Rift, I actually enjoy everything I do... the souls alone on the classes open so many doors to you when it comes to gameplay and thank god there's no homogenized classes.

The auto attack does very low dmg so I end up hitting (spamming) 1, 2, 3, 4 over and over and over and the skills look same as auto attack I can't tell what my character just did. I played rogue by the way. I don't play wow either cause graphics suck compared to Rift but combat in wow is way better then Rift.
Few pros about rift: exploring I loved the little puzzles and the high mountain treasures, the graphics are not bad either.
Cons combat, the main feature which is the rifts/invetions they stop me from doing my quests cause these crazy groups of mobs running all over can't be solo and starting now the starting zones are empty of players. A very easy mob that does no dmg to me when solo 1vs1 can kill me instantly if links with another easy mob.

Wow, really dude? When was the last time you played? Rifts rarely cause problems and they certainly don't do what you're claiming. The mobs are extremely easy to kill.

People wonder why the Rift invasions are no longer permanent see his post. They take over and he can no longer quest. In the lowbie zones it can be a pain if you are not sure how to handle them and I can understand that.

There is ussually some people you can ask for help and team up to take it down.

You just gotta ask for help. I've had my quest people killed lots of times, just got on the region chat and asked for help. Never not had help within a few minutes. A lot of people also have alts that might be higher level. If you ask nicely, they might switch and clear em. I do regularly.

Yeah, if you are on the less populated side then you just need to ask for help. I have had good luck getting help on my alts.

it's the exact ... same ... game ... minus the rifts.

I leveled 2 characters to 60 and was starting raiding when I stopped playing. Warcraft is just a better game. Rift was fun, for a little while, but why invest in something that created the exact same problems as the game you came from?

Now theres x-server LFD too .. worst invention ever. If I have to live with it, I might as well play a game with tons of content and at least an ounce of replayability. The alternate endgame stuff sounds interesting, but it's just too late at this point. Maybe in a year or two I will check back, but hopefully some company will have the balls to try something new before then instead of the same tired rehashed mode.

LFD tools are great for cramming people into content, but quality > quantity.
I am, usually on the sandbox .. more "hardcore" side of things, but I also do just want to have fun. So lighten up already :)

Only people who said LFD x-server was the worst tool ever are the ones with rose colored glasses before it was put out. Just because dicks exist on the internet does not mean I have to wait hours to get a instance run because some derp can not figure out to spam a heal spell.

It works in Rift for the simple reason there is stuff to do outside of the main cities that is just as rewarding lol
