CoH really is an excellent game, but the only attraction of this 'relaunch' is the people it will bring in to the game, so until it goes live I will pass.

Are the free players still more like second class citizens?

Last I checked, you couldn't so much as whisper. Thats just punishing players.

You must understand, they have to restrict access for free players, they rely on the VIP or paying players, and the market to keep the game afloat. If you want everything, then pay the sub. If not play free.

Yes there are restrictions on free players. And thats how it should be, otherwise why have a game anyway. If they arn't gonna make money with it...

I for one will be a VIP player, and have been playing since launch.

    just saying...

Champion's f2p model is a whole lot better than this one. You get all the game content with the exception of the adventure packs, there are not mail or AH restrictions. There also where not any chat restrictions and you could join super groups and do all the missions. So why such I play this over Champions?

Because it is infinitely better than Champions.  Seriously.  The game shouldn't EVER be free to play.  Its worth full box cost + sub cost.  I resubbed 3 times to it since it launched.  I was never once sorry for that.  The creator is better, the skills are better, the PvP was better (till its age found players moving on to other things as any MMO does) and virtually everything else was better as well.

I would not lie to you, I'm a hard nut to crack when it comes to compliments this heavy.  CoX isn't just good, its great.  I enjoyed it more than WoW for sure, and even though it has some things I didn't like about it (paper jobs being repetitive), I'd still go back again if I had time for MMO gaming right now.  ANY F2P model in this game is worth a look.

thats because champions sucks anyway. that game should never have been launched. it's horrible!!!

As for the Superhero MMO genra, CoX and DCUO are the only 2 I deem worth playing. I like them both, and play them both still today. Champs.. well I tried the free and left it for dead!

Even though it's going Free to play, I don't think I could get addicted to this game because I don't like the slow combat system. I do like how I can either be a hero or a villain, join a supergroup that could build a base, and have base wars, but i just don't like the combat. That's why I used to get into champions online because the action in that game is 5x faster then this game. However one thing I don't like about champions online is the lack of players to help out on dungeons and how some supergroup tend to ignore those requesting for help. If only CoX got a faster and enjoyable combat, I will love the game alot.

I beg to differ here. CO has many nice things at least for me. I was CoX subscriber for 2 years before switching to CO and I think I would have a hard time going back to CoX because the cooldowns and the lack of flexibility. DCUO is not doing that great but still can appeal to certain crowd.

Anyway, since they have free versions, better for new players to try both and decide for themselves what they like to play.

I got the feeling that the restrictions on whispers has to do more so with reducing the gold spammers that will come with it (cause you know they will) rather then restricting players.

Help me Bioware, you're my only hope.

Is ToR going to be good? Dude it's Bioware making a freaking star wars game, all signs point to awesome. -G4tv MMo report.

I know CoX is a fantastic game, I just dislike with great conviction the PUNISHMENT of free players. Theres nothing wrong with giving the paying customer an edge, but its just insulting when the game is offered for free but the non paying customer is essentially fighting with a pot helmet and a 2x4 compared to the subscribers.

Yea, they basically took the trial accounts current restrictions and made them able to level to 50 instead of 14.  Those restrictions were actually put into place after CoH finally got 'loot' in the form of inventions and incessant 'gold-spam' became a rather severe problem.

Well that's the beauty of openions, they can differ lol, I'm glad you like CO. It just wasnt for me. I know some players who love it, and some that hate it. But hey! every game has them lol.

I have been playing CoX for 7 yers and love it. And with the new Incarnate system, the cooldowns are darn near gone if you build your toon right.

But hey have fun in CO, I'll play CoX abd DCUO and we will all be happy in our decisions =P
