Hi everyone,
As the title says, I'm looking for an MMO with a good immersive storyline.
I preffer high end graphics but I'll settle for less.
Good, balanced PvP is also a plus but not a requisite.
If anyone knows of an MMO that fits this description I'd really appreciate it if you'd respond here
Thanks in advance!

Guild Wars 2
End of story.
The answer is 42 you idiot!
People say that Guild Wars PVE stories are pretty good, although I don't know that from first hand experience. I believe EQ2 has probably the best storylines at the moment, although it's certainly up for debate.
Uhh yeah I forgot to mention I meant games out right now, have SWTOR pre-ordered :P
Asking a bit early, to be honest. Come back in a year and ask the same question since the genre will be leaning that way with games like Guild Wars 2, Star Wars The Old Republic, The Secret World. This may be the year that the genre takes a turn for the better..or..even worse. I'm hedging my bets on better.
For now, to hold you over, Final Fantasy XI has one of the best storyline(s) I've ever seen in an MMORPG. Lord of the Rings Online also has some pretty good story and quests, the epic ones, are done really well. Guild Wars 1 has pretty good story, but it's not really an MMORPG, but a Co-oP RPG with multiplayer hubs.
Stay away from WoW, Rift, Age of Conan, Everquest 2, unless you like your story very light, limited and non interactive. Everquest 2 even goes so far as to claim it has lore or story, but it's hidden in stupid books of text in certain zones of the world. Sorry, that's my hint to SOE to make Everquest Next actually have story play a part and not be some side thing that barely registers for a player.

Any of the Guild Wars games. Seems like the best match to me.
LOTRO. PvP isn't its forte but it does have it
Vindictus. Great graphics, but its PvP is just dueling, I believe. F2p no strings attached.
Maybe Mabinogi. Its pvp is unbalanced and its graphics are aged. But it has a good storyline (actually Mabinogi and Vindictus are from the same game series)
Dragon's Nest and Rusty Hearts are two new f2p games which seem to be storyline based but I haven't gotten into them yet so I can't say much about them.
Current MMOs and immersive storylines don't mix to well. Like a few other posters said the MMO genre is branching out in different directions with games like SWtOR, GW2, and The Secret World going the more cinematic story based route.
From looking at the clips of gameplay from those 3 I'd say SWtOR is going to be the most immersive story. NPC actors with facial expression, body movement expression, top actor voice overs, and more movie like camera work and angles. The fact that SWtOR's NPC's faces have more polygons and details than any MMO current or releasing says where the focus is in this MMO. In terms of believable NPCs and story, this is where SWtOR is blowing every other MMO out of the water.
The Secret World will be immersive because the quests can be complex and sometimes branch out into the real world with clues hidden on websites. The atmosphere borrows from the Cthulu franchise of horror tales. There are warring factions in the game and their presence is extends into the real world with realistic feeling webpages. Probably will be a lot political themed fighting between them. Like the vampire factions in the Vampire the Masquerade. It looks like it also has interactive cutscenes similar to SWtOR, where the NPCs are able to move around in the environment and/or physically interact with the players avatar during the cutscene. Different actions, duscussions, and repercussions take place depending on what choices you make in the conversation. The camera work great, similar to a movie with slow pans, eerie closeups, etc. Similar to SWtORs camera work.
GW2s strength is in how fluid, epic, fun, and strategic the combat looks. It has dynamic quests and people expect the pvp to be well balanced and addictive. I'd be more excited for this game if they got NPCs to be more animated, with facial expression, interaction with their environment. From looking at the gameplay clips the typical stiff body and face MMO NPC look doesn't help to immerse me in the story.
