Hey all,

Gotta say with the new 1.4 patch it is truly awesome with Open World PvP, me and alot of others have noticed it is starting to feel a little like the good old Warhammer online days :D

Heres a video of one night with some PvP Rifts.....fun :D

Unless something has changed I've found two things that I dislike about the PvP rifts- one is that it seems much easier/faster to wipe the faction that opened the rift and close it with your own raid than it is to open the rift and close it with your own, the second is that population imbalances truly shine in open world PvP. Great fun when you have the larger/more geared zerg, frustrating when you're the minority.

I really enjoy them but have to agree on our server and I know alot of others via forums posts guardians are outnumbered by a large percentage.  We have had a few good groups come through and are at least getting our weekly done but it would be nice if it were a bit more even so we had a fighting chance.

    Erhmmm

    Not comparable to WAR, sorry.

Yesterday I participated in a 200 + players fight over the control of a Destro keep.  Order outnumbered Destro by a good bunch, but the fight was tight and everybody involved enjoyed.

WAR mass RvR is simply better, no matter how you slice it.  Rift seems fun, but much smaller scale.

War has better pvp but it isnt as complete as Rift.

Rift offers a complete experience not just a strong pvp game with forgettable pve and crafting.

this is why WAR hardly has people playing on more than two servers.

i agree often the pve aspect of this game is dismissed in the pvp event with dire consequence.the pve are trigger jumpy and wont tolerate you or the other faction around them it isnt rare for a pvp person to be killed by pve ,player are like wtf who killed me

see that npc over there he didnt like your face!

pvp are on the floor LOLING

and i dont know at high level but at low level pve foe are way less timid then in wow and just shy of dungeon in term of hardness to kill .for me the game is fun .i dont know if it is the same for all class but as a rogue it is fun!

i played war boring as hell!

Do you get the top tier pvp gear by turning up to a pvp rift for a few hours of "pvp" or if you cry to TRION about the PVP grind, class imabalance etc ?

Er, I found Rift's pve and crafting pretty forgettable as well, perhaps not as bad as WAR's but not a whole lot better.

Don't mock WAR too much, once the heavy hitters release in the coming year Rift's fate is going to be largely parallel to WAR's.  (Population reduced to consolidation on a few servers)

true but sadly playing WAR also feels like playing on a sinking ship. i honestly enjoy WAR atm and it got tons of things done right (also pve wise i have to say) but knowing not much will be coming it's way patch & contentwise doesn't motivate a lot. if WAR would get back a decent pop + devs it could really become great but as it stands there are too much manhours needed to make it real great. alone the combat tho functional is far from feeling fluid...3 years into the game :(

rift on the otherhand seems to be real healthy and they want to work on open pvp/rvr and i read somewhere they stated DAOC did rvr right and hopefully they will copy a lot from it :P besides rvr rift seems to be a very wll done game tho i am still on a trial to check it out and loving it so far.

in the end what happened to WAR is just sad ^^

PVP rifts have been dissabled. Probably due to all the exploiting that took place and Trion trying to fix the mess it created and punishing everyone who exploited.

Is probably going to take a good while and then they have to fix it as well.

if they dont do it on the fly each week like blizzard did, then the futur might be bleek for rift.there is always exploiting!the worst is THIS IS THE MAIN REASON A LOT OF PLAYER ARE IN RIFT IN THE FIRST PLACE and they shut it down lol.

Rift pve and crafting are good, we just need more of it. Also i was unaware that you owned a crystal ball Kyleran.

Mind giving me next weeks lotto numbers since you know the future?

Considering I love the WAR IP, I find nothing funny or worthy of mocking when it comes to that MMO.  For me it's more of a tragedy that I prefer not to talk about.

That video sucked and showed me I'm not missing anything in Rift pvp.   You never died or were even close to death in a good battle or challenge.  Your raid just killed everyone the whole time.   Next I'll post a video of me killing bunnies in Elywn Forest.

I posted this in another thread but this thread is more appropriate. World pvp sucks in rift because most people are defiant and alot of guardians are rerolling defiant.  Once again a mmo fails to address player balancing issues which has lead to a huge gap in player and gear balance. Is it really that hard to give an exp bonus or something that encorages even sides? At least warhammer tried even though it was far to late. The lack of balance has made playing a chore for my guardian main and a unchallenging borefest for my defiant alt.

It's pretty reasonable to assume that when the big MMO's like SWTOR and GW2 will arrive, followed by solid other titles as TSW, TERA and AA, that all current MMO's will take a hit including Rift.

How much remains the question, of course, but compared to those other MMO's, Rift is kind of small in world and content which doesn't help. Following activity figures, I'd say that Rift is now on 30-35% of its initial launch population, which is still good. But it's also a calm period, those numbers will go down with new MMO's arriving.
