I wish i had more to do as a non-raider...

I recently came back to rift.

I read the patch notes on the new pvp rift and added crafted set and jumped back into the game.

I have a 50 Bhami Rogue with a mix or GSB/RoS and T2 gear and a Kelari Cleric with rank 3-4 pvp gear.

Before i left the game i transfered to a pve shard from one of the packed pvp shards (freehome).

I did it because due to my opening two new busineses I am forced to go casual (5-10 hours a week at most).

So with 1.4 I come back, get the crafted stuff crafted for myself, decide not to bother with the event dailies since i dont care for a 4th epic mount and i cleared the new ten man raid in a Pug on the second night.

so other than doing the water chain i have absolutely nothing to do.

Before anyone says that what i get for rushing keep in mind i hardly but in 8 hours into the game and im done...

So im once again left with logging in, checking out auctions, doing my craft daily and logging out.

so 10 minutes of rift a day...

This game desperatly needs more content for someone that doesnt want to run Rift like some part time job.

Kind of pisses me off that i like the game so much but i cant seem to stay logged in for more than 15 minutes at a time.

Edit: I read that Trion is adding in a good amount of alternate advancement content for people not willing to run the game by a schedule. this is awesome news but to be completely honest this should have been in the game at launch. Content for non-raiders should be a no brainer in this day and age.

Playing: Nothing

Looking forward to: Nothing

Don't you have friends in game? I mean what else would you like to be doing, if it's not forming a community or taking part in a community? Dev content no matter what it is grows old, community on the other hand not so much. What do you think the point of an MMO is? Dev content, or community building, making friends, setting up community evens etc?

The sentence above is the problem with MMO's today....

I have both family and friends in game.

Sadly I've exhausted all the available content i can do with them outside raiding and due to my schedule I simply can't make scheduled raids and honestly i dont want to. Doing the same raid dungeon 500 times isnt fun like it was when i was some college kid in EQ.

Its simple really i want to have the ability to progresss my character without having to rely on schedules dictating when and where i play. I want to log in at 4am on a thursday night and feel like im making some type of progress.

As it stands right now if i tried to do that i would be sitting in a city with nothing worthwhile to do.

I would like to add one more thing. Im not trying to make RIFT a solo game. I like grouping up in RIFT.

I like Expert, raid and invasion rift content, i like the new pvp rift. i like the 5 man dungeons and i like the new 10 man raid.

Why because none of these things require a god damn schedule to pull off. U can easily jump in chat and say "Hey anyone wanna start the raid rift daily?" and in 15 minutes u have 10-20 guys willing to clear it.

Grouping up is great in Rift and i really like my server community. I think its a shame that the game moves away from that more casual group focused content and into the hardcore "We need to run a schedule to do anything" stuff.

I think this conditioning is what is leading to that, back in the day this wasn't a problem in MMO's, there was always something going on on a community level which made dev content a moot point. I think the problem is people are just not devoted to this sort of thing anymore. They want the devs to supply an endless amount of content, and I think we both know that's just not possible.

Maybe GW2's ever changing world will change that in some regards, but I still feel with that it will be the same for a majority of MMO players. They'll still expect an endless amount of content no matter what.

Read about the coming updates to Rift after the 1.4 patch. They are adding content for the solo and duo players. It's in the 'Uphill Grind' article off the main page of this site.

That's some interesting stuff for sure, I'd like to hear about that last bit a little more (the order your own content system).

I enjoyed my time in Rift, really did try to take my time leveling up, even raised a couple of craft skills to top level, but all too quickly I found myself faced with raiding, dailies, and not much else so I left the game after about 45 days. (shame since I had purchased a 6 months sub)

Contrast that with EQ2 which I recently started, coming up on my first month, level 30 with the same amount of game time, haven't even had a chance to do much crafting (which seems more involved), have a house stuffed full of items every which way since no time to organize yet, just got a cool new flying disk mount as part of an event, and it just seems like there's so much more for me to do there. (Even collections are more interesting than in Rift, butnot sure why)

I realize that EQ2 is a much more mature game, but it would be nice if Rift could incorporate some of these other features.

EQ2 added features for the sake of adding features. The game has literally no direction. Under that list of what people want in MMO's EQ2 actually meets a ton of it, but game is like 1/20th the size of WoW and is not really on anybody's radar.

I played it for like a week and the graphics actually made me physically nauseaus. They had racial starter zones and that resulted in me basically not seeing another person for easily 20-25 levels

Most of the Rift team actually left EQ2 and Scott Hartsman indicated he could not run EQ2 like he wanted to ebcause of SoE being cheap. Notice them mentioning Alternate Advancement..pve and pvp damage...chronicles of telara single/duo instance!?!? Any EQ2 player will tell you there is more influence from there then WoW in Rift.

If this game was like WoW honestly at end game the 10 and 20 man content would be combined. People are stil forgetting how big a part of WoW that actually is.

Trion seems more responsive than other companies to adding things for people. I think that was part of their development on the servers...set it up so that unplanned content (like individual raids or order your own content) can be added without a ridiculous amount of work.

If the game's population transitions even further towards individual players instead of large groups, then I could see all kinds of things being added to the game that wouldn't work well in a group raid focused game. One of them would be individual housing.

I think it would be cool if they had apartment complexes in the cities, where you have your own corner apartment and see outside to the city. It could be instanced or phased in such a way that they wouldn't have to build a 40 story building to house everyone. Have some sort of reverse phasing so that people on the outside could see people moving around in the building as well.

    And so on.

something must be wrong you are skipping quest that is for sure cause if you participate in the various rift always something new pop up there was a quest on the floor after a rift lol and it triggered another story line!

hell i was lvl 16 and i had to go back low level to do one quest that triggered all these new quest i ain even talking about the cave and various other place that i dare not risk solo lol

op you might want to start from the bridge the strart area and go through everything shown and hidden something somewhere in the game probably trigger stuff in the end game and you skipped it!
