What is YOUR reason/reasons for wanting Guild Wars 2

So whats the reason or reasons for you purchasing/pre-ordering when available Guild Wars 2?

 

For me its Dynamic events and the combat. Love how I could just be strolling along and come across a town being attacked by bandits. I also like how it's keeping with the original guild wars and being different from every other MMO out there.

    GW2 just feels like a game where you can do whatever the frack you want. You can just go out in to the world and you won't progress any slower than anyone else. And that's what I like about it.

    Yeah I agree. Really hope this doesnt dissapoint I have such high hopes.

    Besides being a long time GW fan.......it has to be the very unique combat system, No trinity system, and PVP!!!!!!!

    I pre ordered to play with friends. The game is a fresh febreeze in the mmorpg market, well at least gameplay since I don't know how many fantasy mmorpgs there are. I'm jazz'd for the wvwvw pvp, that's gonna be INSAIN!!!!

    For me, it would be the lore.  If the stories and characters don't interest me, i'm not interested in the game.  Aion and Rift are two examples of lore i didn't like.  WAR, WoW, SWTOR, GW2 all interest me because of the rich history they all have.

    gameplay looks great, game addresses many of the problems i have with other MMO's(long list  of shit), playing it in NYC and at PAX east confirmed everything they have been saying about the game. the lack of the typical developer bullshiting and hyping features then cutting them is icing on the cake.

     

    from all that i have played and seen Anet has delivered on everything so far.

    - Topping my list of reasons is and will continue to be, that it isn't following the tried, true, and dull-as-hell MMO mechanic made popular by games like WoW and Rift.  While I had fun with WoW for many years, I never felt like I was really having fun when I played WITH other people, and that is sort of the point of an MMORPG.  GW2 looks to change that and make playing with others enjoyable outside of a tense, 4 hour long raid atmosphere.  As a gamer who grew up on single player games, I don't just want multiplayer - I want good multiplayer.

     

    - PVP.  For the first time ever, I'm excited about an MMO's PVP system before it even releases.  Thankfully, we'll get a good look at it soon, but the way they have described it makes it sound like the kind of fun one would have had in old school Alterac Valley, only better and on a much more massive scale, with a sense of epicness revolving around skill that games like Aion just weren't able to pull off.  My friends and I could be totally content guarding an area of the map while others assault the front lines, and you won't feel forced by someone in "bg" chat to "get your asses to (insert name of capture point here).  Apart from that, PVP was the main thing I enjoyed about GW1, finding the solo-player experience when my friends weren't on to be really difficult and a bit off-putting.

     

    - Guardian class.  Since I first heard about the Guardian, I wanted to roll one.  It's a tank, but it's not a tank.  Since aggro tables don't exist in the GW universe, I will be able to protect my friends without taking away from their sense of depth and danger in GW2, and with the coolest spells like spirit weapons and a shield that can actually be USED when I need it instead of proccing with some bs "block percentage", something I always hated.

     

    - Lack of standard questing.  Although my MMO experiences have been nurtured via quest dialog and "kiling 10 boars", the big reason so many people are excited about GW2 is that it's taking a vastly different approach to questing, and isn't just going halfway like some recent games.  I could literally stumble into thousands of unexpected bonuses while exploring old ruins or running down a hill to meet up with a friend.  Something will always be happening.  And secondly, if I WANT to make questing easier, there's always the heart system that allows you to see the general area where a dynamic event might occur.  

     

    - Though this should be higher on the list - Sidekicking.  Someone above mentioned how you won't progress any slower than anyone else, but at different paces, and this is exciting for someone like me who always wanted to play with new friends coming to WoW but having to roll a brand new character in order to help them, and even then, I was usually wearing heirloom gear and it cheapened the experience for both of us.  With sidekicking, I can do what I want, in any area I want, with anyone I want.  No limits.

     

    - The skin and dye system.  It may not seem like much, but as a player who appreciates the progress MMO devs have made in the past 5 years, I love cosmetic upgrades like these.  Don't like the look of that new sword?  Change the skin to one you grew attached to.  Want to be bad in black?  Get out your unlimited dye and customize to your heart's content.  Along with the sliding character customization scale not present in GW1, I'm going to spend hours just working on looks.

     

    - Finally, I'm looking forward to other game devs being inspired by ANet's bold approaches to classic concepts without just half-mimicking something just because it's been popular in the past.  That takes guts, and so does their payment model.  

    Bring on GW2!

    TBH with you guys even if i didn't personally like the game, I would still buy a copy just to support a DEV team that takes the time to make a full MMORPG (not all those F2P junks) without monthly subscriptions.

     So many reasons. Others have nailed most of em and one other mentioned the sidekicking which is a huge one for me. I wind up playing with my wife and best friend when the schedules are there. This has always meant me having a character for myself, one for my wife and one for my best friend. The fact that you can sync your levels means I don't have to play 3 characters at once just so I can actually play with those I care to. Lets face it, many people have different schedules and the only way anyone can really play with friends and family is to all be maxxed level since you cant out-progress them there really. I think this will end up being an underestimated feature of the game untill people see it in use.

    Also the combat class interactions. If abilities play off of each other I think the combination of skills during combat can add a nice element to that aspect of the gameplay. Both of these features stand out for me but the way the content is going to scale or scale you down means I can do whatever, whenever.

    Biggest reason must be that they pulled PvP off so good in the first game and with a decent PvE. In GW2 they will take both of these to a next level a will most likely be the best game on the market. 

     

    Dynamic events and the combat system is a huge + as well. I can't stand MMO's with 2352 avaible skills at your disposal and you just press the 5 best you have on CD.

    It's refreshiing seeing an mmorpg company concentrate on the game and not the $$ = $uckers!

    I am just tired of every mmo around at the moment, Have tried many and none have got me hooked.

    Guild Wars 2 Looks sweet so i cant wait!

    Supporting a Dev team that finally seems to 'get it'. Feature complete, less emphasis on grind, not a small amount of innovation, etc.

    They have a thief character. I know I know...a rose by any other name...but this thief can actually steal as a game mechanic, and it isn't an insignificant ability, either.

    W v W v W. Two week long PvP-fests...love it. This might be the biggest draw for me, or at least in the top 3.

    3 different dyeable areas PER armor piece? Yes please.

       While I didn't really enjoy the first one (I'm just not into 'esport' style pvp)  I AM looking forward to the W v W v W style that GW2 is promising.  I really miss the massive battles that used to go on in Camelot - and to date there['s never been anything that's really similar.  Here's hoping that they manage to pull it off effectively!

    2.) Arenanet rocks

    3.) No subscription

    4.) Fresh combat

    5.) The art style

    6.) Great PvP

    7.) The metagame

    8.) Fresh questing system

    9.) The lore

    10.) Underwater

    11.) I loved GW1

    12.) The campaign

    13.) Personal stories

    14.) The Charr

    15.) The Theif

    16.) Streaming content technology

    17.) The music

    My main reason to want to play GW2 is the PvP. Bringing my guild over to make a new home there and hope to participate in a lot of the ranked PvP, as well as the WvWvW for when we feel like relaxing a bit.

    Also, the way they are implementing their PvE seems like a breath of fresh air in comparison to some other MMOs we've played in the past. Rift, for instance could've been far better in that respect if they only got away from the quest grind and focused more on fleshing out the rift system a bit more. Never been a HUGE fan of PvE, but when done right it can be very enjoyable. The dungeons and Dynamic Events look like a nice evolution of sorts in comparison to their counterparts in other games. Looking forward to seeing you guys out there!

    Many of the flaws i have seen in other MMO's have been overcome by some mechanisme in GW2.  If you don't expect anything else but yet another good MMO, you will not be disapointed because it will be the best MMO, yet it is just another MMO and not the holy grail.

     

    I want to play because all those great features seem to be well ballanced in a total package and not just glued together.

     

    If i got to make some changes there weren't that many i would do.  

    -12 skills skillbar with only 4 places  for weaponskills

    -AA/RP system

    -duall classing aka GW1

    -NPC henchman,  but they could only be summonned for short periodes in dire times of need... 

     

    But if the game is good, i can live without those easilly

    Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)
