Massive Exploit Swept Under Carpet?

jacklojacklo Member Posts: 570

My patience is wearing thin.

I couldn't fault Trion before this issue arose but after the 1.4 patch came out, along with it came an exploit that has been massively abused, with no action from Trion other than to move it from 'General Discussion' to a less obvious position in the PvP forum.

I understand the issue may take some time to actually take action on individuals accounts, but why hasn't there been an official announcement about this?

Cmon Trion, learn from other game's failures and get on top of this.

Long time reader, but just registered so I could post that this is indeed a giant problem for honest players. It completely breaks all PVP, and if you check the items yourself, it even breaks PVE for some time forward.

If you're a potential buyer of Rift, and you enjoy honest and fair gameplay that does not reward exploiters, then wait for this to be resolved, and if it's not, look elsewhere because it would not be worth your time.

This is a serious problem. RIFT has been plagued with uneven soul balance and over/undernerfing since launch.

Yet another blow to the PvP situation is causing many players to quit, then add that the new gear coming out will make anything lower than R5-6 irrelavent and you have trouble.

With PvP centered games coming out like Firefall, GW2 and TSW with three factions.. this isn't going over too well as far as the future competition.

Have they actually punished anybody yet.  I read though those threads and I see a dev saying they are going through the logs and are going to punish folks.

So I have to ask are they really doing anything to the exploiters?

When I read stuff like this I can't help but laugh a bit about the progression of rift and many other games like it.

    1.  It is in development, developers are making huge claims about how groundbreaking and revolutionary it will be for the market.

    2.  It hits late development and betas are underway, the developers seem caring and responsive to issues that arise.

    3.  It goes live, developers start sweeping things under the rug, hiding glaring flaws as best they can, becoming snake oil salesmen.

Then I remember how naive so many people were about this title, getting themselves all excited, claiming it would kill wow, etc etc.

They sweep it under the rug because they dont want more people to try to use the exploit. the same reason they didn't tell peolple how the log in exploit was working. They don't tell the public things so they wont try it. Some things they have to tell us. but remember they cant fix large problems over night wiithout reverting features.

Seems like they swept the whole "we would balance souls for pvp" concept under the rug too.  I guess they didn't want more people to try and use their pvp.

I play on a  PVE server because i do not care about PVP. I enjoy player interaction against the environment. If i wanted to PVP i would have rolled on a PVP server. These rifts if you are not paying attention and do not have the auto pvp stuff turned off, wil flag you and then your in an endless loop.

If they wanted to do PVP, make it 3 factions instead of two because there will never be balance between them.

I have not seen the cheaters gone yet. Running into a WF with all R8 on the other side is annoying. At laest, most of them are not that good.

To anyone wondering, they haven't done anything about the exploiters, no.

At this point where nothing will happen and I've already unsubbed waiting for the time to run out, I'd rather them just enable the exploit again and tell all the honest players that didn't abuse it to just go ahead so everyone at least gets on the same level.
