Time for aggressive negotiations (logun24x7 video)

whilanwhilan Member UncommonPosts: 3,472

Logun24x7 made a new video for some of the newer previous releases for combat.  So I decided to make a thread to show the link for it so we may discuss it and all that.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i-1yfoCyKHg

If your an avid follower of the game you'll probably seen all these clips before but its always nice to see them in a well done video.

Have fun guys.

Help me Bioware, you're my only hope.

Is ToR going to be good? Dude it's Bioware making a freaking star wars game, all signs point to awesome. -G4tv MMo report.

If people say that this game is slow paced and boring after watching this video, they are just lieing to themselves. Excellent video. Thanks for sharing.
  • anyone else hope the pvp "lakes" that have been mentioned will have lots of npcs around and fighting like what you see in the clips taken from the join the fight trailer that take place on corellia?  would help make it feel like there is an actual war going on.

and logun does a good job with those vids he makes

Was it just me or did some of that look like it was sped up a bit?

It has to be me, this looks very unexciting, and this is the newest videos. Ouch!

It also seems like it needs a major engine overhaul already, nobody else notices the hitching even with its low rez textures?

well the animations is fast atleast, but then most people who play MMOs seem to want it slow paced - personally went into this genre thinking it were adventure games, so never cared that combat is slow in EQ2 - ofc especially in low levels. SWToR too is slow paced if you see any video´s where you can see the hotbars, way slower than what am used to

Dude hicthing could be due to many things considering the game isn't even done yet. Yes I notcied it, you'd have to be blind not to, most games I've played in CB have had this problem though.

Also I think it's a bit more noticable because those sequences look to be sped up to me, when I normally see TOR vids you can track the saber swing basically from point a to point b, a lot of those shots were hyper fast and the complete animation was lost due to it, looking way off.

hmm, compared with the "join the fight" trailer i'd say that everything is sped up atleast 1.6x,.

I wouldn't mind if pvp lakes where like AV was in WoW before Blizzard gutted it and took out all the npcs. Back than fighting in AV was like both sides were actually at war.

    You're right.

I watched the video mentioned here "join the fight" and yes its certainly sped up, watching "join the fight" video looks slow and boring compared to this this video.

MEh, MMO combat is generally not about excitement it's about strategy and knowledge. If I want a thrill I'll play BFBC2 or something else shooting oriented, if I want realism I'll play WWIIol.

Reminds me of watching a trailer for a new movie when all the good bits are in it and edited together but when you come to watch the movie itself , you realise the movie had no more to offer than the few bits that were in the trailer.

Yep, I've seen all the originals and it does look to be sped up a little bit.

Hmm, I didn't see that much difference in speed between shots in the logun video or other videos, sounds like a lot of baloney to me image But I don't feel much for going ahead and try to compare scenes from the various videos by frame count and milliseconds duration in some video editor. If someone else wants to to make sure, feel free and go ahead.

The video was nice, what annoyed me however is that at some point two musical tracks are heard at the same time, that don't match well together (imo), sounds as if 2 completely different radiochannels are both active at the same time, just doesn't sound good.

I'd say you're wrong, but then again, to each their own opinion and prejudices.

Exactly! A perfect example was Iron Man 2, the trailer was awesome, after watching the movie you realize you were duped as you'd already experienced the best it had to offer.

Yeah, true, but then on the other hand I watched the trailer for The Matrix and Lord of the Rings, and what do you know, the movies were as awesome as the trailers!?! image How is that possible?? image

Bottomline, just like with movies, until a game/MMO comes out it's hard to say whether a game/MMO will be on the level of awesomeness of a trailer or not.

Haters and fanatical critics that already dislike and detest a game, will without a doubt say that if a trailer was good that the game will be nothing like it and that it'll be FAIL.

Fans will say that the trailer is a perfect representation of the game, so if the trailer is awesome then the game/MMO will be too.

People that are on the middle grounds or who use common sense will say 'heh, nice trailer, but it's just a trailer, we'll wait and see how the game/MMO will be when it comes out, it can go either way'.

I opt for the third option, sounds like the most reasonable way of seeing things to me image

That is why you have other videos as well to base  your opinoin off of.  Which apparently you have already by the tone, but either way this video sped up or not, non action scene cut or not are moot, this is simply a fan made trailer pointed towards the theme of in your face, take you out, no questions asked, no volly back and forth, when i hear the term aggressive negotiations i think of two movies first of all is fifth element http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3oKwg6W05MU and of course we all remember the line from the second of the prequals where they aggressive negotated in that arena, i think that was what the video was trying to protray.

This is really just a fun fan made trailer for people to enjoy.

Typically you see the animations a lot clearer, it doesn't even look as though it's sped up by much, one shot that it almost looks obvious in, is the shot where you see ships zooming by in the city scape, they're going by at like a billion kessels per second. Maybe I'm just seeing things but just passing on an observation, I didn't think of it as ammunition for usual suspects, but it is what it is. I'm not going to bother trying to prove my theory as I don't care enough to :D, doesn't change my perceptions on TOR.
