"Otherland"

Just ran across an article about this game on IGN.com. I had never heard of it before but really enjoyed the gameplay trailer. Not sure yet if it is something I would play but it looks pretty interesting.

Here's the trailer. Looks bad ass.

    Always read the small print.

First... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v1wt5_lO6rA <-- "Otherland" song by Blind Guardian, based on same book series.

    Second... Weapon skills.

Third... This sounds like every good computer network anime/manga story turned into an actual game.

I used to TL;DR, but then I took a bullet point to the footnote.

This game is old. I remember finishing the books before the game came out, thinking that it would make an awesome game. I followed it for a little while, but then the developer website and the author's website went dark.

Haven't seen anything new on this in years. If it's still in development, it's the quietest development I've ever seen.

I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.

Seems like second life rather than a real game from what I've seen.

"Otherland is primarily about combat, questing, exploration, evolution and growth. At its core, it is an MMO game in the fairly traditional sense but with three key new features, eDNA, Myland and Multiverse. Having said that the game does feature a large location at it's center called Lambda Mall, which is designed to be the games social, shopping, story and casual game hub."

Ah thanks for the info, was mislead by the trailer I guess. From what I remember this game has been in development for quite a long time so it more than likely will be rather good.

neither of those is really all that good so hopefully 'better' i think its a game to be watched for the moment.. loved the books, but.. whether they can pull this off.. remains to be seen.. and.. the whole gamigo f2p thing.. not encouraging.. despite that though.. i must admit i am interested..image

    Here's the developer website:

    The IGN site with information:

I had forgotten about this game to be honest. They haven't published any new information since 2008. They do have that video and several new images published recently though, so I guess they are still working on it.

I'm looking forward to whatever it is they come up with, I really enjoyed the book series.
