What's up with you guys on MMORPG.com anyway ^^.  I seem to have ruffled a few feathers today - damn you guys are easy.

If you're still playing MO - let's meet up somewhere and settle this old school.  Assuming you can still swing a sword.  Let's fight it out (in a real game) god will preserve the righteous.

Another point - these guys aren;'t SOE  they odn't have unlimited resources (to turn out a themepark piece of shit like old republic) so what do you expect?  All your little bugs resolved in a week?

I remember the launch of Starwars Galaxies - it took a long time for that to settle down - even when they had a daily 1-2 hour outage.

    meh

I liked your posts until this one where you lost all credibility and it will certainly mean I rule out any positive comments you make before trying the game out again.  If you came here to set the record straight you have done the opposite.  You have gone to the same level as the trolls.

First you call people out to settle the score "old school" in game. . when the "trolls" are saying that the bugs are the problem in the game. . (how would that combat be fair).

A small team should either a) charge small prices (which I understand they can't and that it doesn't work that way)  OR b) be honest about what they can do.  No expcuses. . it is a good game or it isn't.  (see "Townlife video and excuses = Navmesh - which was fixed by epic patch etc. etc. etc.)

SWG did not take a "year" to settle down. . the same bugs did not repeat themselves in the same way.   No one compared the game to SWG. . which launched quite a long time ago. . not that long after UO and EQ. . and given the fact that in UO they didn't even realize until beta that they might have to optimize networking code I think we expect a lot more from a "modern" MMO that is built with those games in hindsight.

I am certainly a moderate on these forums as far as MO goes:

I love what MO is trying to do.  I think the dev team is cool. . but they can either do it or they can't. . so far it is still a toss up un my opinion and in the past I would have said they can't.

If you are here to help MO. . start giving actual, factual information that refutes what people are saying.

Sorry Guys - I have to stick with this point - I am asking you (grouop of peers and experts) - what's a better Sandbox MMO???

C'mon I've asked a few times now - it's ok to Troll - *but* you have to come up with something better than what you're trolling agianst.

So ... seriously - you're all watching this thread TELL ME: what's a better Sandbox MMO than Mortal Online?

EVE is out - A) it;s not Sandbox and B) you can play with your wallet.

So the best you guys can come up with is UO?  Seriouly?!  There are many MMOs out there and that's the very best you can do Oo

    Haw HAW HAAAAAW

So please, c'mon - one of you step up - WHAT'S A BETTER SANDBOX THAN MO?

    Horn

Your posts are becoming more and more pathetic with less and less arguments.

Your only argument left is invalid : MO isn't even a real sandbox MMO.

Sandbox MMO's definition is just a themepark MMO with more freedom and less restrictions  : more tools for economy, social life and achieving goals.

you could say a themepark has a lot made of concrete which you can't move or change, while Sandbox offers Sand and tools to shape certain aspects of the game such as cities, economy, factions etc.

MO is a sandbox MMO but with very few tools and no sand at all.

To answer your question simply : Darkfall Online offers everything MO offers with an inferior graphic engine, but better artistic work, a world 10 times bigger, more tools for crafting, more professions, more skills, more weapon types, more magic schools, more races of creatures, more dungeons, more interactive pickables, more environements, more special moves etc etc...

the only thing with DarkFall was the grind and the ruthlessness of the game which drove me away, it really was Darfur over there and wasn't casual player friendly. but apart from that, I challenge you to find one thing really that MO has that Darkfall doesnt' except for penis/rectum/vagina on character models and the useless horsebreeding and eating thing.

I was gonna write long and indepth arguments to most of your posts, when I realized that your only arguments are "Do it better yourself" and "There are no other alternatives". This might come as a shock to you, but lack of alternatives (which is not the case for MO) does not make a product good by default.

Not to mention that most of your posts are constructed in a rather.. provocative manner, since I believe that even the most hardcore MO fans would not make some of the statements you made. EvE not a sandbox? Hah..

when it comes to the best sandbox mmos, i have to go with eve and uo. They are superiot to mo at least interms of features. I was a long time player of both uo and eve. However my problems with eve start with its game mechanics, quite often i would be half sleep or even fall asleep palying eve due to the incredibly slow pace  of the game. For me the grind became to much in that game it became very monotonus and grindy, i was one of the first palyers in eve tofly a battleship and i have subbed and resubbed aronud 3 times from release of eve. UO on the other hand i consider the greatest mmo, but playing it for a lnog time and seeing it destroyed by its expansions i wanted soemthing different. Mo is different it has many firsts when it comes to mmos and i enjoy playing it casually without fear of grind or ending up left behind by guild mates.

there are 2 types of mmo, imitators and innovaters.

Two sides to that coin, tbh. On one hand, it is sure nice to not be required to grind a lot in order to be combat ready. On other hand, most people play MMO for the sake of character development and feeling of achivement, progression. And what is there to do in any of the later three in MO? Maxing stats out and getting top armor takes couple of weeks, and then the progression stops and endless PvP begins.

I guess it is a matter of taste, but that is what makes MO more of pure MMO-FPS-PVP game to me, rather then a real sandbox rpg. It lacks long term goals and "carrot on a stick", kinda. But hey, it might be just what some players are looking for, a quick PvP game with no long terms goals to care about.

there are still long term goals but they are generally community and guild orientated, certainly thoguh the majority involve pvp.

no one will point you to a "better" mmo  because "better" is a debateable term. a game i may find better, someone else will find horrible. just like many find MO enjoyable and others do not.  no one has said MO isnt a enjoyable game, only that bugs prevent them from truly enjoying it. i personally wont touch it until i know its more stable in terms of content and bug fixes given the many bugs i have read about that effect it.

if you enjoy MO so much great. more power to you.. demanding people point you to a better one again is pointless. their tastes are not your own. people have said UO and DFo both are similer in style to MO both would be considered quality alternitives to MO... are they better... who knows.. who really cares as long as the person playing it enjoys its, its all that really matters is it not?
