I can honestly say coming from EQ1 ... AA was probably the best feature as it created a solid reason to keep working on one toon.  Plus it created a double plateau system with both leveling and AAs - allowing some xpacs to be levels and others to be AA cap raises.  Then obviously we all will have the gear hurdle to jump, but hey ... at least something to do between raids and such.

Who else is excited to see something like this?  What types of AA would you want to see?

I personally loves the idea of small stat increases.  Possibly allowing increased crit caps (minor).  Run speed alterations.  For bigger ones, would love to see specializations daggers/swords/bows/staves/twohanded .... double attack %s, maybe haste. So many awesome options!

I'm quite curious about it, too -although i'm not playing the game yet. It's like whenever i decide that "this patch containing feature X" made it the right time to get into the game, they announce  "the next patch containing feature Y" that makes it look like it's worth waiting some more weeks again.

But then, i'm worried of how AAs may turn out in the end. Trion has brought alot of good things on the table for Rift and while many of them excited the players at first, the implementation and execution turned out to be rather poor and lacking.

So... i'm curious, but not hyped about upcoming features announced, not until i see them live and working in the game.

If its done like in Everquest 1 awesome, just pure awesome. One of the best features Everquest 1 had. It gave you something to do will outside of gear/raid progression.

Question still stands how will Trion implement them? If they are as limited as in Everquest 2 and broken down into trees the system will be very meh, if not this could really be an outstanding feature.

Don't play Rift anymore but for the remaining players this would be awesome and something  NC soft should implement in Aion.

Its definitely gotten me interested in returning, since its gonna be some months before SW:TOR yet.  However, I'm kinda holding out in hopes that Amazon will do another deal on the 60-day game cards.  They were selling them at $21.99 a few months ago and I didn't get one then cause I wasn't intereted in Rift as much, but I am now.

I also like the info about the solo / duo dungeons...

Should be on the news page here somewhere, called something like "the future of rift". Who cares about PvP? Rift should have been a  PvE only game right from the get go.

While its true it will be months before SWTOR, it will also be months before this features are implemented into Rift, thats why the letter was info about the future of the game.

.....While I agree fully, since i played eq and had the most AA's of any necro on my server and it offered ALOT of advantages over my foes. I think its too little too late for Rift which i did play, but got OLD very fast.

I think the AA combined with the ability to do the gear grind in solo and duo raids makes the game much more attractive. Depending on the time frames, I might actually resub for a month to see how it's working out.

I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.

Agreed, Alternate advancement is needed in RIFT.

Right now its either raid or WF grind for the best stuff and that limits the game imo.

THis game needs more epic quest lines like the death and water ones, it needs more small scale group content and maybe a push for master craft for the players that like to just do that.

    we need options...

    Playing: Nothing

    Looking forward to: Nothing

AA will give me a reason to do 5 mans again, I do not need the badge gear as I am working in raid content. I could care less about rep grinding.

I like so many of you, are hoping it will be like EQ1 AA.

True.  Target date is around the holiday season.  Probably end of October / Early November to beat SWTOR which will probably be released either just before or just after Christmas rush.
