Aion is second biggest subcription (around 3 mln subs) based MMORPG worldwide , not sure about West though.
I love how Aion has had 3 million subs world wide since it released lol.
Considering the game is dead in NA/Euro i guess people in Asia really, really love that game...
In Korea it's huge. It's their WoW from everything I've heard.
Only due to blizzard not being able to keep their game up to date there.
Did they even release WotLK yet? lol its pathetic, I cant believe we actually count subs from that area of the world where everyone pays by the minute and games in a cyber cafe.
RIFT will be fine. Even slow servers will have cross-server pvp and dungeons. Guild Wars will be another Warhammer and SWTOR will have the lasting power of a game like Dragon Age I & II.
RIFT continues to add new content to keep folks busy and most of the players they have lost suffer from ADD or ADHD anyway:P

It peaked at 4 mils AFAIK and dropped 1 mil from there over time and yeah I heard it is preety huge in Asia , especially Korea.
Besides impresssion I get from various forums is that there are still people playing Aion in NA/EU and that servers are far from beign ghost towns especially at mid-end levels. + Aion is still pumping out content patches relatively frequently.
But I am more curious about the player bases 3 months after both of them have released. In my opinion Trion should do what they already do. There will be a big decrease in subs when these games release. But at some point people will begin to compare, what they do get in game A versus game B or C. Free content patches?

Imho might be less dead than many other titles.
TOR and GW2 will have a big impact in my opinion.
