Just unsubscribed from the game.

The game shows promise, have some interesting points, but in it's current state, is seriously boring. A shame.

So whats the meaning of saying that here?
  • PeterPainPeterPain Member Posts: 41

    Nothing, just sharing a though.

Same as WoW vs GW posts, what's the best free mmorpg, GW is not an MMORPG and a long list of pointless topics i guess.

  • rushinrushin Member Posts: 184

So should i start a topic saying 'I'm subscribed' i find this game seriously interesting?

  • PeterPainPeterPain Member Posts: 41

If you feel so inclined, there're a lot of similar posts in here.

Hmmm, lets see. This is a site about MMO's. The forums are a place where people go to discuss MMO's. He had an opinion about Ryzom and posted it. Seems he is doing exactly what is intended.

BTW I love how many events they have put on over the past month. The storyline sure has advanced a bunch. ::::18::

Had some revelations about the generals.
Watched at the sage put together the amber and unleashed Demla's spell.
Spot of PvP in the roots.

Please do tell me what EVENTS correspond to the first three items you list. I'd really love to see some screenshots of that sage releasing the spell. Notice the word events, not posts on a forum, actual in game events.

I would agree that there really hasn't been much added to the game for the past six months.  Stories and whisperings and innuendo and rumors are no substitute for an actual game with in-game events, and meaningful PvE, and interesting things to find and do in-game.

The game right now IS boring.  You won't hear this on the official forum because they don't allow people to post who don't have an active subscription.  Thus only the steadily declining number of fans still posts on those forums.  Perhaps they will finally put more in the game in the future, in which case one can always resubscribe, but their recent track record doesn't inspire much confidence.

Those have been actually taking place in game, I have not taken part to all of them as usually events take place at too late time for me since server merge (gmt+3 here). I have taken part in some but have seen server wide announcements about much more events. I think most of these amber events haven't had exact time announced on forums, just general hints that something is happening and then there are usually several events.

Usually those events are more roleplaying centric than pvp events. They consist of roleplaying between GM played characters like Generals, evil twins and so on and possibly with some players who do more that just spectate. Players are usually asked to act as guide and escorting these generals around but this is not that challenging task with horde of escorts. There are sometimes action at end or gm spawned extra patrols whatever.

I'm sorry but this is getting tedious. Why do you think you can post about what is going on in the game currently when you are NOT playing!! All those things i mentioned have been in game. There have been many more. The kitin amber is a story branch that has been running many months now, there have been 20, probably many more, ingame events assiociated with it. Some of them have involved pure rp, some have been 3 hour long treks and fights in the PR.

Here's a suggestion: go b1tch about something where you know what your talking about, because you sure as hell dont here. It really winds me up when ex-players have nothing better to do with their lives than moan and flame the game they have just left. Not just Ryzom but it happens on every forum, is it so difficult to walk away and do something new rather than acting like spoilt children and trying to ruin everyone elses fun. pfffffft

I think I can coment because I still do read the forums and the Saga section which talks about the advancment of the story and events.

As for why I keep posting here? Because someone has to point out the half-truths to people before they jump into the game and find nothing like people described.

When I decided to try this game, I looked at the user rating and read forums here. So I was expecting much more then what I saw ingame. I went away disappointed because it's not what people here describe it is. If fanboys would stop over glorifiying it, it would probably do much more good.
  • mmattommatto Member Posts: 135

What is there in ratings that is overglorifying the game? There are lots of "I love game" and "I hate game" type comments, but those comments does not have much meat to base own opinion.

People seem usually to tell that graphics are great, community is friendly, support crew is good and world is refreshing change after standard fantasy elements. I can't really deny any of these points although I must admit that being niche game with quite small community contributes some of these factors and same things may not be become apparent during short trial. It doesn't make them fake though.

Your last couple of posts have basically stated there are no events going on in game. Your telling me that you read the forums and made this insightful conclusion from there? maybe you should read more carefully and you would see players talking about there ingame experiences.

So lets get this over with shall we, what half truths? The simple fact is i enjoy playing Ryzom as do lots of other people. I have no interest in coming to forums and 'conning' people into playing.. what an earth would that achieve? Everyone's perception is different, some find enjoyment, content and entertainment where others will just say wtf? that is life. You just strike me a bitter person who has stopped having fun and cant accept that others still do. That's why i respond to your comments, you state things that are NOT true because you are making judgements without any of the facts.

Well if I am wrong, please point me to the IN-GAME EVENTS that advanced the story. Players talking about how they beat up a Yubo is not an event nor does it push the story forward. Instead of saying I am wrong, prove me wrong.

  • sleepyguyftlsleepyguyftl Member Posts: 648

It's not a flame war. I've just been told I am wrong, so I would love to read more about all these events that have taken place.

  • mmattommatto Member Posts: 135

Tear of Kitin storyline has progressed lately as Rushin mentioned. Kami/Karavan conflict storyline has not progressed last 2 weeks to my knowledge, although there may have been some secret events ::::02::. About 2 weeks ago there was quite much going on in that Kami vs Karavan, maybe they are giving time for player guilds to make their decisions and finishing Tear of Kitin storyline before any major war stuff.

Roots PvP event was not actually moving story forward but provided some Kami vs. Karavan content and way test out PvP warfare.

There will be a patch tomorrow, but final list of included features is not yet announced. There is however bigger list of features that are coming in short term and that contains lots of faction PvP improvements list. Sleepy might find fame based automatic PvP faction selection interesting.

Whereas here any @sshole with a pulse can come and say its boring. Tell me what other game out right now is better than SoR? I'll save you some time by putting my 2cents in and say no its not better than SoR, it sucks. See how it works?

Thanks for the nice personal insult and for posting probably the worst post I've seen in these forums.  I guess learning to have a civilized discussion is something you missed out on when growing up.  Or maybe the part in my post about the "declining number" of players struck a raw nerve.

I played for 6 months, starting right after the game went live.  I found it boring after awhile despite a great community (you being the apparent exception) and could not bring myself to log back on.  Why should I not share these experiences with others in this forum?  Is this not a website devoted to MMO's, and this a forum devoted to this MMO?  Are only comments that you like or agree with to be acceptable?  I gave reasons for what I said in the post you replied to, as well as in multiple other posts placed in this forum.  Your reply is not only uncalled for, but frankly idiotic.

I have not said in any of my posts that some other game was better than SoR or vice-versa.  Obviously people enjoy different things.  So please don't attribute words to me that I didn't say, and then tear them down.  If you want to tear down other games, you don't need to hide behind me.  My comments were directed at SoR, a game I played long enough to form a valid opinion of.

People enjoy different things, but an MMO has to appeal to enough people overall to net enough income to sustain itself.  Right now, it doesn't look like SoR is succeeding in that area.  People can form their own conclusions about why that is the case.

I did read about the factional pvp changes and it's good to see they are finally getting around to actually using the faction system for something. Although I have my doubts the players will actually us the pvp areas. I was disappointed to read they are just "thinking" about faction based titles. It was yet another thing they said would be in the game early on.

The part that sucks is they seem to have put the encylopedia and mission system on the backburner. As more time goes by I realise that they probably will never take the time to really work on that.

um how? by that very definition you would have had to be ingame. Are you saying that baecause i didnt take screen shots of these events i am lying to you? and would a screenshot of some people standing around make you believe me anyway?

Read this thread, it contains the synopsis of one of the storylines

I think we have reached the point where you just say the same thing over and over again.. I have this big deja-vu moment as it's exactly what you were doing on the main forums before you left. It was incredibly annoying there, and tbh not much less annoying here.

We also discovered from the latest QA that the reason we haven't have a big RAID invasion since the last one was because the last one left so many bugs on the servers that they're still tracking them down before they fire up the RAID engine again.

And although this is really frustrating, I am still glad they finally out and tell us why there hasn't been a RAID event for a while. I think I can live this reason, the RAID engine is a new tool for them and they're still refining it.

I just hope they get all the kinks out soon.

    p.s.

there was a great PvP event a few weeks past in the Umbra Prime Root. It was great fun, but the initial battle was total chaos because we can't tell friends from enemies. Near the end, the players got smart and start using the "Refugee" and "Homin" title to denote the 2 sides, which makes it less chaotic.

It looks like these new set of PvP features with the coloring and faction symbol and titles are made to directly make that type of event better. We'll see how it goes.

Also, they are reducing the safe zone in Capitals. The only reason I could think for them to do this is that they're about to unleash some type of capitals invasion soon. I hope this is the case ::::03::

    p.p.s

I said it at the time and I'll said it again: Raynes, you would have loved that PvP event in the Prime Root, Kami vs Karavan, with the Karavan rushing to assinate a Kami spy, and the Kami escorting her. It was everything you have wanted. It was too bad you missed it, but it was defn a noteworthy event.

Calm down people, I just wanted to express an opinion, but this is heating up very quick.
Any @sshole can come here and say the game is boring, yes, and other @sshole can come and say is fun, that's the beaty of these forums, but getting personal about a game is nonsense.
