Speaking to the folks at Eurogamer, Valve head honcho Gabe Newell has revealed that DOTA 2 will begin an invitation-only beta following the conclusion of the Gamescom tournament, and will move on from there towards a public beta.
Newell also revealed that DOTA 2 will not make the widely believed 2011 release date, stating that he "doesn't think it will be shipped until next year."

That's kind of wierd. You would think it would be ready for release by the time they have a tournament for 1million dollars. That just surprises me it's not done and they had a tournament with that high of stakes.
haha maybe they wanna increase hype?
I hope i get into Beta.
As for the payment model, I really hope its just a flat box purchase.
I dont want to sink hundreds of dollars on heroes.
It's one of the reason i can't fully support LoL.
Ill toss you 50 buck valve just give me the full game, I dont want to be nickle and dimed.

Actually I don't like LOL because of the piss poor cartoony graphics.
LOL feels like an Asian mmo to me.
I was hyed over Dota 2 so i decided to fire up LoL.
A game i havent played in a while and forgot how the graphics looked lol.
Downloaded HoN right after. I prefer the darker look.
HoN will tide me over until i get into Dota 2 beta.
