from what i understand there is an elder scrolls mmo in early development however it is not being created by todd howard and the guys responsible for the current elder scrolls games it has instead been plonked on the table of a development company with experience in mmos (cant remember their name) who are employed under bethesda.
so probabyl a hell of a lnog way off and so all i have to play is mortal online (some similarities but not close enough) until we get a proper elderscrolls mmo
I heard rumor of Bethesda Studio making a MMO. But will is be Fallout Online or Elder Scroll Online?
I am hearing rumors of both. But I seen Fallout Online on IGN stated for 2012. But if that is true that a Fallout MMO on the way, could that also mean that there is no Elder Scroll MMO in development?
During the court battle between Interplay and ZeniMax (Bethesda Studio) Interplay accused ZeniMax of trying to get the IP back because they (ZeniMax Online) were making a Fallout MMO. However "reported" testimony stated that game was not Fallout but a World of Warcraft style MMO. http://www.gamespot.com/news/6246696.html
So I am of the opinion that they are making an MMO based of the Elder Scrolls IP, also keep in mind that ZeniMax registered the domain elderscrollsonline.com back in 2007 though they claimed it was more about future proofing which is very possible.
In the end we will know when they want us to know but at the moment I believe the signs point towards a fantasy MMO and the Elder Scrolls just makes sense.
Because flying a Minmatar ship is like going down a flight of stairs on an office chair while firing an Uzi.
I think you lose quite a bit making them mmo's. You said yourself Fallout works because there are not a milion other people running around. Elder Scrolls is the same game just fantasy. Single player all the way. Would rather see a thief mmo or a Gothic mmo.
no i said that the feeling of EMPTYNESS and DESOLATION of Fallout would be impossible to replicate with thousand of people running arround. imo that is what truly makes an apocalyptic game awesome, the feeling that you are one of the few remaining people on the planet. just look at Fallen Earth, it is a post apocalyptic mmo but because of all the people running arround it feels a lot more like a huge, overpopulated juckyard then anything else. there is no desolation, no emptyness just lots of people running arround big piles of garbage.
Elder Scrolls on the other hand would only gain from a large population because of it's mdieval/fantasy setting. a thief mmo? no thanks. i'v played MO and that's annoying enough. a gothic mmo could be fun.

there are 2 types of mmo, imitators and innovaters.
Fallout MMO, because fantasy MMO's have been done to death and beyond...
But I would not kick an Elder Scrolls MMO out of my bed...unless it was not fun.
