Yeah, I am not sure if he is sincere or sarcastic and hate the game even.
I am looking forward to it myself since I liked the first game but hype is kinda useless. The game will have to prove itself when it launches like all other games, the hype will just make more people try it out the first few weeks after launch.
I of course think you that seems healthy sceptical should try the free trial after launch and judge the game on it's own merits but I think that of all games with at least an acceptable budget.
For me hype of 10 wouldn't do justice for GW2. This is literally the only mmo i might enjoy when it comes. If i don't oh well i will have more free time.
Yea Im excited. Never played GW1. Dont intend too. But GW2 has me at hello.
And Im getting pretty darn tired of the fantasty genre. So its saying something that I'll be buying this anyways and probably playing it for years. It says even more that I wont be buying that other big mmo coming out that is not fantasy.
Its not the fantasy that I care about. Its everything they are doing that mmorpgs should have been doing for ten years now but havent. It had nothing to do with technology but more to do with common sense. Take options to color your armor anything you like for example. Why hasnt this really been done yet? There are other mmos that are yet to release that arent even doing that. Why? Why in the world would you not do that? With that implementation alone you eliminate clones. Players could be wearing the exact same set and if they colored them differently they'd look nothing alike. Its not a super simple implimentation but it doesnt take a group of Nasa scientists to do it either.
Anet seems to be the only one making an mmorpg right now that actually cares about its product. They want it to be something special. Thats just good business. Whats good business? Forget the money. Make something of amazing quality. Put your hearts, soul, and wisdom into your product and the money will come on its own. If you did well, money is something you wont have to worry about. Instead developers these days want the buck and thats what they think about. Thats backwards thinking, and it does not always work.
Im impressed all around. There are good things to be had here and I intend to have them. Money well spent.
Don't let your hype out of control or you're bound to be dissapointed when the game comes out. It all sounds great on paper sure but in reality it won't turn out as good as your imagination makes it to be, trust me.

I've enjoyed most of the game's aspects so far. The only major thing that bothers me is the clunky-ish animations. They might fix it, they might now... who knows.
To put it plainly, a lot of the games core has been experienced already. It's pretty far pass the "on paper" phase. Of course we still need to experience WvWvW and guilds. But for the most part, players are generally happy about how the game feels.

^This. This game looks awsome but...
Eh, already played the demo at last years PAX, and plan to play it next week.
Initial impressions for me was an instant buy. Even playing an early build I can say it'll definitely be my next MMO for years.

Good sir, by chance could you test if you can just dodge attacks (both melee and ranged) by moving out of the way?

Sounds like good news. I'm hoping that there's no major gamebreaker defects. Industry needs a strong win.

I won't have a chance to try the game myself before release and its hard to experience mechanics just by wathcing videos. Tbh only prefession videos looked really impressive to me but in gameplay videos combat felt more like a mess then anything else. Not saying it really is a mess just looked that way.
So I'l keep my expectations to minimum for now and see how it all unfolds. However, I did buy GW on sale to play with my firend and earn some points for HoM. Not really imune to hype myself.

Watch that vid, a few seconds after the 3 minute mark an Ele begins to attack the Thief, the Thief gets hit the first time but them proceeds to strafe to the left and the ele misses the next projectile.
EDIT: Also in that vid, around the 5 minute mark you see a charr thief shadow step to the Sylari Thief and smack in the back of the head. That moment never seizes to make me laugh my arse off, it just comes out of nowhere.
Uh, the troll is strong in this one. Who cares about hype anyway? And no, I'm not hyped about GW2 and most probably never play it like I did not play GW.
May i ask why you will not play GW2?
I don't care about hype, but i do care about substantiated opinions....
have yet to see someone who looked into what kind of game GW2 is, and not think it seems to be worth to buy, 99% of the time its based on assumptions, rather than what is already known if you hadnt decided, nope bad game, wont ever read about it - which does keep suprise me when you read and use a forum like this, which well am sure ANet wont have a problem billing them if they ask nice....but reading his arguement I think you can make a qualified guess

Don't allow yourself to get too excited about marrying your fiance either or your wedding day is bound to be dissapointing. Actually, just try to keep the level of love down in your relationship, which is bound to fail at some point. Sure your significant other sounds perfect and ideal on paper right now, but that's just irrational because love is blind.
Seriously, excitement for something is one of the best human experiences. Live it up while it lasts. If when the game comes out, it doesn't quite live up to the exact ideal you set, adjust your attitude and appreciate what the game does right. If the game is legitimately bad, move on. It was going to be bad regardless of how excited for it you were.
Guild Wars 2 is making me more and more excited for it the more I see/read, and at the same time less and less excited for SW:TOR.
Thankfully, I won't have to choose because of GW2's excellent business model and the fact it won't release until (probably) months after TOR.
I've hyped both games a 10.
Will they be 10's? Probably not, but even if they are 8/9's I'll still enjoy them both.
If they are 7 or less... well... these guys might be worth sticking with until they iron out the rough spots.
quite surprised to see you take that position.
myself I'm not looking to much into SWTOR because it will come out around the time I have exams, or when i have to study for my exams(december, exams in january) but otherwise I'd give it a shot until GW2 came out, not really into stories in MMO's neither

I think I'm really hyped/excited for TOR as a Bioware RPG set in the Old Republic Star Wars universe, where as I am exctied/hyped for Guild Wars 2 as a MMO.
Make sense?
I mean, yeah TOR is a MMO and it's going to be cool to "share" a Bioware RPG (multiplayer) with friends/family, and I don't really mind the dungeon/pvp/raid end-game model for MMOs, I've had some great times and a lot of good memories from WoW end-game.
But it terms of the "shiney new MMO zomg unique/original gameplay" I'm much more hyped for GW2.

Yeah, understand your point.
For me its hard to be excited for TOR for simple reasons, the following games didn't hold me for more than one hour: KOTOR 1&2, ME 1&2 Dragon Age, 2nd one didnt even touch it because I just cant play it.
Baldurs Gate:Dark alliance 1 and 2 I loved it as Co-OP on PS2, but that wasnt even BioWare. Just not my style I guess. But if ones enjoys their games they prolly gonna enjoy TOR, even if they just buy the box and complete one story mode in a month, will prolly get their money worth of it.

It's a good point, but it fails to acknowledge that we keep on seeing these promises being made real, every time there's a new information release or playable demo. For every small disappointment, there have been a dozen, much larger happy revelations.
I know that usually Captain Downer is right about these things, but the more we see, the closer ol' Cap gets to receiving his golden parachute.
After this week, I'm on the hype train. I saw a finished product with lots of game changing features, but instead of releasing a bugfest shot in the dark they waited polishing it for domination. Animation and stylism are the best I've seen since wow. It looks like ArenaNet took all the aspects that WAR, Rift, AoC, and other mmo's attempted (and seemed gimmicky) established what would and wouldn't work then cramed them into GW2.
I would like to know more about the guild system and end-game. I can't wait to try it.
