    - Single card requires min. 400W PSU Nice

Also, it doesn't state the video ram. Is this the 512 model?

I`v not seen any 7800 with 512 ram.. but only a few companys have released it so far, with it been on sale from today,, i did notice that the 6800 ultra with 512 is still slighty more expensive than these first cards..

$485.25 for a card that could out perform the X850XT? I'd hit it.

    edit-

    Holy S&*!.

    - includes BFG T-Shirt

And now you know why I adore BFGTech.

That may be the retail price, but I've seen it going for $600+ on most sites...

Think there will be a significant price drop in the 6800 and possibly 6600?

Doubtly. The prices may go down on say, ebay, but not retail.

I've seen the 6600 GT going for as low as $150 or so after rebates...probably wont see any significant price drops till X-Mas this year. If you want a really good deal, though, check the refurb section at NewEgg.

Slightly off topic, but if you have a really nice card, check out the Battlefield 2 Demo if you already have not. I have an x800 pro with 1 gig stick of ram and 19" lcd monitor and the graphics are well, every adjective has been used to death to describe graphics so I'll take a minute to invent a new one, the graphics are crap your pants and kiss your mother-in-law realistic! Seriously, I want a MMORPG with this engine, it seems to manipulate googleplexes of polygons effortlessly.

    Another review at : http://www.hardocp.com/article.html?art=Nzg0LDE0

they said "This new Release 75 ForceWare driver has finally fixed the problems the GeForce cards had in EverQuest II. In the past, we were only able to run at the High Performance quality setting. Now with this new driver, we can run the game in Balanced mode with smooth performance and no stuttering.

With the GeForce 7800 GTX, we found that 1600x1200 with 2x TR MSAA in Balanced mode plays very well. This is the fastest performance and highest quality settings we have ever experienced with EverQuest II. Furthermore, not only is this is a very large performance increase over the GeForce 6800 Ultra, but it is also an image quality improvement over the Radeon X850 XT-PE."

599 for a GeForce 7800 GTX 256mb PCI Express as listed on pricewatch.com - This category was only added in the last week.  512mb appears to not be available at this time.

Best buy ran an ad for a 6800 ultra for 350.00 after rebates.  That was the best deal I have seen and it's a signal prices on the 6800 will be dropping soon, I think.

If anyone is interested http://www.nvnews.net has a good collection of links to reviews and write up's, plus their own initial testing, info on the new drivers and all the good stuff.

Just ordered my two BFG 7800's to replace my two ultra's in my little gaming rig. /Sigh, nothing like new nvidy cards to make a girls' day !

Hey shae, what you doing with your ultras? They AGP or PCI-E?

  • shaeshae Member Posts: 2,509

PCI-E of course image Their running my SLi rig right now, and I'm not sure what I'm going to do with them now actually, probably just going to throw them on the Trade and Sale forums at nvnews, see if anyone wants them.

    Hey man try newegg.com

awesome prices and a great refund policy

    they are the best

I just upgraded my computer (wouldn't call it an upgrade so much as an overhaul)

and also bought an eVGA 6800GT AGP which can be bought anywhere from 230 to 400 dollars.

I got mine for $235 from ebay and I can play eq2 with absolutely everything maxed out (execpt AA and anistropic which are horrible performance killers unless low resolution) and res of 1600x1200 with a playable framerate - 25 to 30 fps and it looks absolutey amazing (off course I dont play it at these setting and opp for a little better frame rate with still gorgous graphics)

You don't have to spend a fortune to get great graphics right now.

BLAH I buy the best card on the planet an X800 pro (the day after it was released) for 600 bucks canadian and they go and make 5 better ones!

Posted a link concerning EQ2 and the new G7800gtx in off topic.

Basically it seems at 1600x1200 the game is still running choppy on ALL AVALIABLE cards in group combat.

At a lower resolution it is playable on high ends- g7800gtx,6800ultra,X850XT but the X850XT still runs better then even the 7800gtx unless in SLI mode.

My thought is wait for the ati new graphics card if you plan on buying a new graphics card this year.

I own the X850XT(and can confirm that this card does indeed run in extreme quality in even small raids with a athlon 3800+,2gb) so might skip a generation and get the next years card.

But i am sticking with ATI even next yearimage

yea, i've been thinking of getting a 850xt AGP, and sell off my 6800 Ultra AGP. I mean I used to be able to run in extreme quality when the game first came out live....but i also have a FX-55 CPU and 2gb ram

MSI MESSED up one of its premium motherboards as you won't be able to fit a Geforce 7800 GTX in it. It's an SLI system and people at some forums discovered that one of the capacitors will interfere with one of the cards. DOHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! imageimageimageimage

    its the K8N SLI..

But i own the ASUS sli board.. so PHEWWWW!! image

    Would this one be ok?

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16813130501

I'm doing a complete overhaul on my PC, the only thing i'm keeping is the hard drive. I'm getting the BFG version of the 7800GTX and i'm not sure if what you said would also apply to this motherboard.

It should be fine... According to reports its just the MSI K8N SLI board won’t be able to fit G70.. (i think its the second card that the capacitor gets in the way)

and MSI are working on a new revision of the board
