Do you think that the entertainment side to SW has to be so NARROW as to have nothing else in the entire galaxy EXIST because it isn't already there?

This is an entire galaxy that the lore is based off of. So when expanding the lore on a sparsely touched on "Nar shadaa", it's appropriate to add to it. If anything, Nar shadaa doesn't have enough lore to be immersive as it is. Bioware is filling in the gaps and brining it to life.

I think you just fear change, and would have preferred a set limit to the lore. Never have anything new added again.

You would be right if it wasn't cross-faction but i bet it will be cross-faction too.

It's not. They already cleared up whole "mixed teams" from the doctors etc.

It can be Emprie vs Republic, Empire vs Empire or Republic vs Republic.

See, Empire vs Republic makes zero sense to me. Maybe i'm wrong, i'm not a lore expert in SW. Guess you will say back then they played.

They kill each other in that game o' ball, there's plenty reasons why any sith or republic soldier would want to kill each other under the guise of a game.

Besides, it's not the same Empire or Republic we're seeing in the movies in there.

The reason Its republic vs empire, or verse your own faction. Makes complete sense.

It is not a warground, but simply a spectator sport for the underground thugs. Doesn't matter to them who fights who.

Bet its a GW2 troll. First mmo to have a gameplay mode like this. (Which note is really fun, if you ever played UT04 bombing run, which is pretty much same thing)

how do you guys feel about Huttball? will you take your Jedi Master Sage or lvl 80 Inquisitor to play space football when theyre taking a break from seeing into the future, meditating, and toppling empires?

I was under the impression everyone knew this was a game. Don't like Huttball? Don't play it. Roll your Inquisitor or Consular on a RP server and stay away from it.

    Problem solved.

Watch this. IMA GOING TO MAKE UP LORE.

You have been captured by the great thug leader. Baller hut. You have been selected to fight in a spectator sport amongst others. To make things more interesting and lessen tension between your teammates, you will be put with your own faction.

Maybe you guys are right. For me as a Jedi, I guess the option is not playing and the reasons behind this option would be a good RP, hopefully.

Good a reason as any really, i could perhaps come up with about 20 likely scenarios where a game of bloodbowl in space would be perfectly reasonable.

Guys, all you have to do is click on someone's name, read their thread history, and magically the purpose of the thread becomes clear.

    There Is Always Hope!

    This reminds me.

Some roleplaying veteran once told me that it's not important how you make your character as much as how you make the environment work for your character.

Especially in a static environment, find a way to make what's happening seem reasonable to your characters motivations.

It was good advice for roleplaying in an mmo really, where it's not always easy to create the perfect environment for any mindset.

That was a very smart person. Not only that, it's part of improv acting.

hehe ive seen it all now huttball - looks like some cheesy xbox for points game. In the 80's and 90's they used to shore up weak licence tied products with 'side games' as well.  Not to say this game is weak because its not, but  it  is hard to imagine why a development team would invest time in such a thing when there is such a rich world to model, unless the designers dont really have immersion as one of their big goals.  My 8 year old son loves the idea though, I am clearly the wrong demographic for this bad boy :)

SWTOR is a game, not a game compendium last time i looked :P

    rpg/mmorg history: Dun Darach>Bloodwych>Bards Tale 1-3>Eye of the beholder > Might and Magic 2,3,5 > FFVII> Baldur's Gate 1, 2 > Planescape Torment >Morrowind > WOW > oblivion > LOTR > Guild Wars (1900hrs elementalist) Vanguard. > GW2(1000 elementalist), Wildstar

Now playing GW2, AOW 3, ESO, LOTR, Elite D

    As long as it's fun.

I think you should focus on enjoying the game once it is released not worry about , maybees...

Setting false expectations; will lead to nothing but dissapointment. Life is all about fun and if it ain't there move on don't linger.

An underworld sport is just one example of the gameplay option available to the game... Content and options just sound better and better day by day.

And with 8 single player games thrown in for the cost of a Box and measley subscription you can't loose even if you hate MMOs.

And throw in probably the most expansive MMO ever ; with more content at release.. yeah I guess we have lots to worry about.

Good job we are able to ignore people in game as deluded and jaded SWG players are not my idea of fun.......

This whole argument brings to mind the cliche of "You're damned if you do and damned if you don't." Bioware is always hit by the haters for being just like every other MMO yet for the things they do that are different  eg: Full voice over, companions, huttball, they are scorned for not doing what is familiar. Go figure.

    Currently Playing: World of Warcraft

  • i_own_ui_own_u Member UncommonPosts: 314

I do not recall Bioware saying anything about you having to play Huttball.

Let us filthy jedi and sith duke it out in an incredibly ammusing game while you have fun with 100% immersion.

  • GadarethGadareth Member UncommonPosts: 310

Hutt Ball ... Pod Races .... Lets be honest if your Jedi doesnt want to do them he doesnt need to do them its not immersion breaking if your not competing.
