Who else just felt it.  I'm in Maryland, I took my kid and went outside.  Everything is all good now I think.   Just phone lines are busy, I can't get through to my wife.

I didn't feel it .I probably wouldn't have known what it was anyways having never been through one in my lifetime, until I turned on the News of course.I think I was hearing it was the first one since 1897 or something like that, on east coast.Until modern instruments capable of registering lower richter scale quakes existed you wonder how many earthquakes there have been that we just could not feel

I felt it alright.  I'm in Manassas, VA and the epicenter is 37 miles from my house.  Whole house was shaking, cat running up the stairs, me running down and outside.  2 hours of adrenalin rush after that.  Quite an exciting day.

Well population is a major factor there.  The northeast has millions of people.  NJ alone is the most populous state in the U.S.  You also live fairly close to CA, so you're bound to feel something occasionally.  The NE rarely feels something like that.  Add to that fear of terrorist attacks, 9-11 anniversary, etc.  it's not a good area to be in.  East coasters are always uptight.  I know, I've lived here most of my life.  Was a culture shock to live in the west for awhile in my Airforce days, but I noticed the major difference.
