Considering that the preview weekends are just around the corner will The Old Republic hide behind NDA much longer ?

i hope so. i want some real talk about the game. Review from players who played it.
When mmorpgs are deep behind NDA that means the game is not that good...there is something to hide untill the box sales.
EA is greedy, they will not drop NDA before they sell the initial millions of boxes.

Not really, but if you play your cards right some people will pre order it who shouldn't otherwise. No game can be as great as a 100% optimist think it might be.
You are right that EA is greedy, but they have already sold over a million boxes.
The NDA will lift a few days before the try out weekend.
And when is that try out weekend?
Deep NDa's in general only mean that some important feautures are not set in stone yet, and they don't want people to jumpt to wrong conclusions.
Bad games have beta breakers all over, dissapointed people in general easilly forget about NDA's....

The NDA might never lift, not all companies do, but more than likely it will around when the head start gets here.
I don't think it matters, NDAs are ineffective at stopping information leaks.
I already know everything I would like to know about this game and I already know that I will enjoy it immensely.
I highly doubt it will drop before headstart begins, I think even those picked for weekend testing will be under an NDA.
You have to consider dropping their NDA before release, is basically akin to a movie allowing people to post cam vids of it all over the net from pre-screenings.
At least it's an excuse they can use to great effect.

I am just going to enjoy the game when it releases with friends. I have no interest in playing until the Pre Orders kick in.
The NDA is a process; pretty much irrelevant. I guess it may give the doomsayers something to gripe about but to be honest theres enough quality wrapped arround this game to make the cost of a box and a monhlty sub more than value for money.

Is it breaking the NDA if Ive watched a buddy of mine who is in beta play the game and report what Ive seen?

It's a story driven MMO, first of its kind really, dropping NDA weeks/months before release would mean a lot of spoilers out on the net.
If I were making a heavily story driven MMO I wouldn't drop the NDA till release day. Keep the head-start under NDA for all I care.
Thankfully the game looks bad ass and I know.. somehow... I can't tell you how.. but it plays pretty awesome too.

technicially no, you wouldn't be breaking the NDA because you never signed it. however, its against the rules to post anything that would break a NDA on these forums so your post would be deleted and possible other action like possible ban could happen. But you also need to take into account that even though Bioware couldn't do anything to you, if they ever found out who your friend is, they could come after him. Now it would be highly unlikely they would come after any specific person legally, but they have said they will ban people that violate it from the game permanetly.
Technically its well over a million so far, 400k pre-orders so far at $5 each is $2 million just in pre(pre)-order sales, not shabby,
The game is still at least two months away from release. I doubt you will see NDA dropped much sooner then one month before launch.

Given the story driven nature of the game, I would imagine they'll keep the NDA until last minute. The last thing they need is spoilers this early, there will be spoilers after launch no doubt, but if they started showing up now, it'd be a nightmare.
There are already spoilers to most the classes and just about everything else if you know where to look...
I'm sure there are, but not posted on YouTube (and staying there) which will be what happens around launch.

Please, please, please name a game that had it's NDA dropped BEFORE open beta. I assure you there is no such thing, and that isn't because games suck, it's because it is standard operating proceedure for any and every MMO ever made. Ever.
Currently the marketing department wants to shape the message as much as they can to build hype before the game releases, and more importantly THE GAME IS UNFINISHED. It's often a bad idea to let people have unfettered access to a work in progress when so much needs to be polished and so much can change in the meantime.
Given how many spoilers will be dropping after the NDA drops, I think I will be staying away from sites like this then. I like the surprise myself.

They're not having an open beta and I think the weekend tryouts will only be for a limted number of people to stress test probably one server.
Probably 90% of the games features have already been revealed by Bioware themselves and the other 10% have been leaked by various testers. From what I've read about the gameplay, I'm in the camp that says they'll keep the NDA as long as possible because frankly I don't think the game is going to be that good.
Except that most games do not drop NDA until they release or have an Open Beta. So by your reasoning almost every game that gets released is garbage?
