While I always welcome something new, I think I can predict that this will not turn out well, FFA full loot alone makes it a tiny niche, realistic medieval setting makes the niche even smaller. Call me cynical but just look at MO, DF, Xsyon, heck even Eve the "big sandbox success" not really big compared to the mainstream.

I think the mainstream are starting to get tired of killing 10 rats and getting a lollipop... As soon as a polished sandbox comes my prediction is it will be a huge succcess. Imagine if TOR was sandbox.

I am not thrilled , while I am not against Full Loot , I am waiting for non-indie good sandbox mmorpg without full loot but with item decay (you can repair items few times but they eventually break up for good).

Not sure if ArcheAge will have something like that , maybe not. Surely it is not going to have full loot , but from upcoming games it still is looking most promising and if they deliver good quality game I will stick with it as my long term game (if it will be p2p).

As for MARK , - I will keep an eye on it , thou I am not thrilled tbh. Looks bit indie , don't get me wrong indie games are not bad , they are frequenly very good , but I really want AAA title that has freedom and variety of things to do.

Did you crack up when he started zooming around the skies or was it just a general ho ho ho from the get go?

I was interested in it untill I saw the magic fireball crap. I was really hoping for a realistic medevil MMO.

Here we go again. Another FFA, PVP/full loot sandbox which will come and go jsut like many other sandbox titles. I guess these days sandbox only means 'full loot pvp'

watched trailer 1... go to 1:22 in to it.. turned it off.. found the flying knight to be far to outlandish to warrant my interest... while i know devinci was working on flying machines... i know for a fact a templar knight (what they showcased) would weight  WAY TO MUCH for him to fly with 1 hand on a wood and paper kite... im sorry, maybe if it was an actual flying machine that looked like the pre WW1 flying machines MAYBE... but a 1 hander.... nope... far too heavy his armor would rip his arm off

but seeing as you already have games like Feudal online i dont really see what this one offers that DFO or MO or FO wont? none look really historical (or even semi-quasie realistic)

though FO looks more historical then this...

im just wondering why it has to be full-loot pvp hardcore... why cant it just be pvp? or pvp-hardcore?? whats with all the "lets rape and pillage everyone" mentality of fantasy/medievil mmos now days

Not if it is FFA PvP with full looting.

I agree that games like World of darkness online might do fine because it is true that many people have become tired of the same old stuff but TOR would be a terrible sandbox, Bioware are good on what they do, but if you want a company to make a good sandbox you need a company that are good on making sandbox games, like Bethesda or Rockstar.

A standard Templar armor weights around 15 kilo, then add about 2 kilo for the sword and maybe 5 for the shield. A person wearing that could actually fly a modern hang glider.

The one in the vid is however far too small to lift an adult person even with no armor and very thin so yes, it looks rather silly and I have no clue why they added stuff like this in the game.

The templars were disbanded in 1312 while DaVinci was born in 1452 so a templar using any of his inventions makes as much sense as a Spitfire piloted by Jack the Ripper.

But read my earlier post with the nice pictures of weird stuff that shouldn't exist anyways. ;)

thats exactly my point.. it reminds me of assassins creed with people flying around.. but then again that guy as far as im aware is in light armor at best..

i just cant see any knight being insane enough to jump off a perfectly good cliff with full armor on.. using just a paper and wood box. least of all why would you "para-drop" in to a battlefield like that O_o... i dont think he can really effectively block with a shield like that... archer fodder?

A 12th century armor like the knight wears isn't that heavy, the stupidity is that a long bow arrow will pass through it like paper and flying would be begging to be a target from a good archer.

We do agree that it is silly, but not exactly for the same reasons, because weight have not much to do with it. The kite is too small and it would be stupid to do this in broad daylight anyways are my reasons.

I own a 11th century armor (replika of course) and while it is heavy and it sucks running far in it it is not so heavy that many people expect it to be, and it doesn't slow me down much in combat.

Just like a real sword weights a lot less than most RPG players think, surprisingly many have complained that my historically accurate blade weights far too little for a real blade (or what they think a real blade would weight).
