bad spock that is not pvp, that is a pvp minigame to keep your mind off the dullness that the game will be, see wow for that. instead of giving you content they give you minigames that take forever to see the end, that way they dont have to make things for you to enjoy in a game, just release more gear. true pvp was never about gear, it was about fighting other players and having fun. besides with arenas and all that kind of stuff how much open world pvp do you think is gonna happen. people will sit in major cities and q for battlegrounds instread of exploring the world, just like in wow.
besides giving rewards is the second point i made in my post. bioware is trying to give out too many rewards for everything. hey i went to doodie 10 times today, i get a reward that i can buy a special pottie or something. its dumb and its just a obvious ripoff of wow and other games that have done it. I wanted star wars, epic space battles, epic land battles, grand armies clashing, thousands of jedi and sith fighting for what they believe in, instead we get 8 vs 8 pvp instance warzones that the only reason you are there for is to get the current season of gear so you can be ready for the next season, just like wow.
hey bioware, wow is losing subs left and right because of this business model wake up, people are getting sick of doing the same thing over and over again each day, we want a game, not a job. most of us have 1 to 3 jobs nowadays anyways, we want a game that we can relax and immerse ourselves in not another job with a deadline and a schedules to keep up with.

If you are bored of WoW, you will be bored by this ....
yeah but to me swtor isnt doing anything new other than telling a great story and making it all voice over, which is a welcome addition to the genre imo. but this whole gear grind crap just turned me off from the game, not that I dont want them to do well, i want them to do well simply because their employees have worked hard on doing this and we dont need any more unemployed people in the world but I wont be playing it. ive been there done that too many times, the only way i will play the game is if its free to play and ill play the stories and be done with it. i have absolutely no interest in raiding anymore, pvp grinding for better gear or anything else like it. maybe im just sick of mmos in general but quite frankly i just want to play, not get into a grind for better gear or stuff. the only grind i like is leveling and even then I dont want it to feel like a grind, just let me play and explore and eventually ill level. its might just be me but i think the way they decided to do things sucks, but more power to the people that are going to play, ill continue to play forum warrior cause that is the funnest mmo game going today imo.

I think GW2 is going to be the perfect game for you then. Honestly!
What i really want to know is about open pvp.I dont care about instanced arenas cause they are no a lot of fun to me.
On the other hand it may be their political system to hide information till release or sth and handle it as a surprise.
Finally i dont care about swtor i have ordered collectors because im a collector and a starwars fan i also ordered shae vizsla statue again because im fan of art.
If the game did not make it to be fun i have no worries at all. There is guildwars 2 coming and the long long awaited Diablo 3.So who cares when i have diablo 3.
@hardicon if we speking about SW:TOR sincerly personal i expect to play this game because i am intristing in:
1. story (LORE), side quest what can reveal a huge universe with many conection see planet, see world, see faction, see battel from good & evil
2. for FUN with a some frend's coz all MMO noo mater what they are, who they maide is good to play with u'r RL Frend other way fsss u end in be alone in a big mmo world & get bored or frustrate coz u can't find what u expect
3. if game will bring voice acting, movie & ton's ton's houre to play & discover univers i am hapy, i pray, i houpe game to NOT be a fast lvl-ing race to get end lvl & then sit in some town, make some dungeon, make some bored chit chat, troll coz that mean's have a dejavo
It's sad to see how much emphasis they put on Huttball during Gamescom. It's just a generic battleground with a slighty different objective. They built an entire presentation around it like they reinvented the wheel or something.
this is a tactic when you know your product will fail. don't give away too much information, release the game in a big hype, sell lots of copies, release a bunch of patches because the community cries out loud that the game is full of bugs/imbalances, close your servers because no one plays it anymore.
I don't think the game is anywhere close to being ready for launch this year. All the signs are there... no launch date, no beta, no big reveals. And yet they opened pre-orders... it's more than weird. If they wouldn't be under EA's wing I'd almost be tempted to say they ran out of money.
I don't want to draw any conclusions, but there are many worrying signs.
Also, when talking about actual features, they better have some hidden cards in their hand, because right now SW:TOR looks like a 2008-2009 MMO.
I agree with the above statement. SW TOR seems still like a 2nd gen MMO, will be a solid game I think (im not a hater) but it does not seem to have a bunch of "new" things to make it a next gen MMO.
It has voice overs, which is cool but other games have that if even at a more limited capacity. That one feature does not make it ultra amazing for me anyway for hour by hour gameplay. If I am not the type to sit and read a quest then sitting and listening to some npc ramble on will be just as boring for me, may be cool the 1st time but after that? I cannot think of any other features that just amazingly set it apart from technology games are using right now.
SW TOR will succeed, because of BioWare I think. I like them as a company, they are overall successful and will make it work. Over time it may not be to the level many seem to think, but it will be a success.
My 2-3 cents.
- I have played Everquest, DAOC, Shadowbane, WoW, Aion, Rift, SW Galaxies, Planetside and Guild Wars (all expacs)
We're getting pretty close to the "tipping point" between being excited about new reveals and just being pissed and screaming "GET ON WITH IT" and just release...
I'm getting less and less excited about new information reveals / demos / videos etc. and more and more impatient... I just want to freaking play I don't care about reveals and announcements anymore...
This is the camp I stand in the only reveals I could possibly care about right now would have to do with lifting of the NDA, beta times and release dates anythign less than that is going to be a let down for me. I'm ready to play or atleast know when I'll be able to play.
Uhmm, dear Michael, TOR has also allowed people to play low, mid and PvE endgame content now, as well as (instanced) PvP. So GW2 really hasn't got that much more beef at all, in fact, they're still missing out on the endgame part as well.
The reality is: there isn't that much more to reveal, basically only open world PvP and the legacy system remain and just today the veil on open world PvP was lifted a bit further in an interview with tentonhammer.
BioWare has put out an unsurmountable amount of trailers and gameplay clips for this game during their friday updates, GW2 has not. It's kind of logical that the Arena devs release larger blocks of info in conventions then.
Feel free to use my referral link for SW:TOR if you want to test out the game. You'll get some special unlocks!
Good thing I am pretty impervious to pre-launch disappointment and I don't care much at all about how big a splash in the pond companies make at conventions. I do wish they would have given us more and deeper info on the objective based world pvp systems though. And a heck of a lot earlier. But as long as it is engaging and meaningful and in at launch I am fine with it.
I just want to thank to all this kind and gentle good samaritans that are warning us about how disapointing SWTOR will be. Now I will go to my local pharmacy and buy myself a ton of anti-depressants so I can copy with such a problem.
However, to those prophets I repeat that I will only play a plush bear hero if SWTOR and TSW fail big and AoC is closed, so I guess my chances to join the B2P market are small...
Oh GW2 is no clone. It has more info than TOR which should launch soon,
I'm sure a prophet of your standing could tell us more about the last class in GW2, or the WvW and endgame in general then, or maybe when the game that will destroy everything out there will actually even enter closed beta.
Yeah, no.

Just pointed out a fallacy in his post he made. The gw2 sig kind of gives away what his fvorite mmo is, so hence the GW2 orientated post.
I pointed out legitamate stuff. This is like every preview for SWToR starts out saying "Biowares story driven mmo"...GW2 is doing the same thing trying to corner the market on "ArenaNET new and dyanamic mmorpg".
Huttball (at least for me), raised some concerns for me. The implementation seemed like a very poor design choice indeed. However, more concerning is the lack of info this late in the game. As the article points out, there is supposedly only a couple months left for this game's release. There should be large unveilings, not small showings of minigames and minor announcements. It does have a bad vibe about it.
I think the majority of people who had the fortune of playing the game disagree with you, they had quite a lot of fun. However, everyone who has gotten burnt out on certain MMO gameplay aspects because of having played thousands and thousands of hours of MMO gaming in years before, I expect that their jadedness or MMO burn out won't just magically disappear when playing SWTOR: if people have become bored with current MMO's and can't really enjoy MMO gaming anymore as they used to, then this will still feel the same with SWTOR for them.

swtor will be huuuuuge fail.
Meh This is children's talk, talking in extremes with little connection to reality, especially regarding the bugs or 'tactic': anybody who pays attention can see the gigantic list of details regarding features that is available. Then again, you have to pay attention and read that list of course.
As for a release date: in September the beta stress test weekends will happen, any common sense should say that a release date won't be announced until at least those will have taken place.

Make WoW clone with VO
Hype it with cinematics that have no connection with gameplay
Repeat SW and BW always
Give players small info so they cant realise it is WoW Clone
Sell 2 milion copies, achieve financial succes and go WAR path.
Dont say you havent been warned !!!
dissapointed all the way.

For me Swtor was over shadowed by GW2. I have a pre-order for swtor but I am seriously considering canceling it and waiting a little for GW2.
I'll admit I was a GW2 hater till gamecom - manly cus I hated GW1 for many reasons. But GW2 is looking very solid.
Swtor is looking more like WoW in space, not sure if I want that now.
Uhmm, dear Michael, TOR has also allowed people to play low, mid and PvE endgame content now, as well as (instanced) PvP. So GW2 really hasn't got that much more beef at all, in fact, they're still missing out on the endgame part as well.

Oh GW2 is no clone. It has more info than TOR which should launch soon, and yes it is B2P and it will beat TOR hard.
Also GW2 hype is more than justified? I dont think TORs hype is....
Also will quote your post and laugh when TOR fails be prepared dont say you havent been warned.

Can't you people realize that not everyone likes or is hyped with GW2? It will be the most superuberMMO? Nice to all those playing it. Have fun.
I just don't get what is the point of coming here talking bad of a game that isn't even released... Is someone paying you?
Did someone say "no beta" as a reason they believed TOR wasn't ready to be released any time soon?
The game has been in beta for.. months? 6 months at least.
No OPEN beta is more like it..
Oh wait, September weekend beta events have been announced....
One point completely invalidated.
