Looking for a progressive mmo arena game

Dragonking60Dragonking60 Member Posts: 145

As the title says suggests I'm looking for a game similar to DoTA but with a progressive system. You know, you come out of a battle and the levels you gan stay and you get a chance to build(assign skill points, equip, etc) your character before fighting again. I don't want 50+ champions. I just want one thats personal. I also don't care for the whole base things, just all out war between players is fine.

Those are typical DoTA games. I don't want that. I don't want any champions. I want one single highly customized character that is linked to my account.

Are you looking for something like a shooter or PvP arena like Guild Wars or perhaps Global Agenda?

then you aren't looking for a game similar to dota, as your opening post might suggest ^^

and no, there is no game with progressing champions in isometric view where you fight in arenas other than dota and its clones. or are you looking for diablo-like games?

Diablo 3 will have an arena system.

Path of Exile (in beta now) might be worth looking into... it's a very Diablo inspired hack-n-slash "MMO" (plays more like Guild Wars with hubs and instances - but randomized like Diablo). Sounds like there will be PVP tournaments and such, so I'm assuming they'll be arena-style.

To be honest, I've never played Guild Wars, I'm very interested in Guild Wars 2. I don't want a shooter, I've played Global Agenda and I want more RPG.

You could get a game like Rift and completely ignore the pve content.  Just level up doing pvp.  The levelling is quick enough that it wont be tough to progress.

Yeah, that sounds like Guild Wars to me. Except most of the "progression" is cosmetic... the max level is 20 and past that there's not much else you can do to become stronger except to get optimal equips (which is nothing like in other mmos, it's not a huge pain with raiding and crap). However the character customization is among the best of any mmos.

Btw-- I thought the limited characters in DOTA clones would be a turnoff for me when I started playing LoL. But as it turns out there are so many characters to play, and there are skins and "masteries" which are like talents in other games and "runes" which add to your base stats before the game even starts. So idk, I feel like MOBAs actually have a good deal of customization.

Just get Guild Wars... Over half the people here mentioned it and it's pvp. I'm so proud :D

I'll wait for Guild Wars 2, thanks. 20 is too low for me. Yeah no League of Legends for me, the cel-shaded characters are a huge turn off too.

Mount and Blade: Warband with the cRPG mod. It has an amazing combat system, and with the mod, you gain xp and gold for fighting in pretty awesome battles.

Heres a fan made trailer, not the best, but its good for describing the mod. People are always playing also, so you have action whenever you want.
