- Huge worlds to explore and isn't based on 5 trillion instances
- Cool mounts, bikes and multi-passenger vehicles
- tons and tons of clothing, armor to choose from
- probably THE best character creation tool on the market still
- decent community if you get on the right server
- great value for your money (total experience box set I think it's called)
- Space game included, I know someone brought it up already but it's another good facet
- Seems to be growing again so you'll have lots of newbies to hang about with
- Big variety in classes
And well I'm sure there's more but saying this much nice stuff about SWG is hurting but there you have it, more then one reason to go out spend your money and then you'll have the first 30 days to at least make up your own mind.

Its an SoE product, so you can count on features such as patches that break the game, un-tuned and un-tested expansions and tons of class changes down the line as they frantically try and fix a product that has been broken since launch.

/shrug... explain to me where I'm wrong? I stated very simple truths here. SWG has been a huge disaster... that doesn't mean NOONE likes playing it, as obviously some of the die-hards have stuck with it. The fact remains that its been through massive changes - the kind of massive changes that should have been made during a BETA of a product, not the commerical release.

It's ok we understand you don't like it. And it's been through changes, which you obviously can't stand. No game ever makes changes I know....

that, and a lot us mmo peeps have bene playing a lot of games where the naysayers insist XXX game is dying even though it ended up surviving for years. you can practically use the same counterarguments that worked 4-5 years ago to this very day

LOL SHAE!!!!!!!!!!!
Actually I use the same arguements for SWG when someone posts it's dying that I did for M59 (hey look, it's still out there) and UO (look! Still out there) and EQ (look! Still out there) And DAOC (oh my god... it's still there too!) and AO (err how's that one surviving anyway?) and AC (yup... still there) And AC2 (still there.... golly....) Hell.. even HORIZONS is still kicking around (for now.. I have a feeling that one is close to being cancelled it's under 10k players, they can't possibly be cutting a profit on it at this point.)
It's actually gotten to the point where it's fun seeing someone predict that a game is 'going to die' because you know that person has absolutely no clue what they're talking about.
Loved your reply though That was classic!

I, too, and thinking about buying it. WoW is just not tickling my fancy anymore. I'm thinking either SWG or City of Heroes. Seeing as how SWG has the total experience thing out, I'm leaning towards that. Someone please help me decide
I was just talking to a coworker about that 10 min ago. We both agree that SWG has depth and CoH is more like an arcade game. We have both been playing CoH off and on, but none of us could get into it becuase it's just kinda repetative.
i have two friends who work for NCSoft here in Austin, and after talking to them and playing and reading about their games, i've come to realize this:
every mmo NCSoft makes does ONE (maybe 2) thing(s) extraordinarily well, and thats about it.
CoH does PvE excellent. no crafting, and every class is a template pretty much. every quest is practically the same as well.
Lineage I & II excellent PvP (as far as the Asian markets ar concerned).
Guild Wars excellent PvP (as far as the N. American market is concerned).
Auto Assault ( a friend is in the first stages of Beta) crafting is the strongest point here. although i expect a lot of that to change as the NDA gets lifted and beta advances into more complex systems.
Tabula Rasa peaks my interests, but obviosuly far too early to pass judgement.
games like SWG have a ton more depth (and bugs that come witha ll that extra code) in that it attempts to incorporate so many systems into one package. i won't lie, you have to be a very forgiving person to put up with the bugs. but the payoff can be a very rewarding experience be it space or ground combat, crafting, questing, or just exploring.

the interface is the hardest part...and it's not that bad. there's actually a very good new player tutorial that helps you get started. once your in and you start working on professions, it's pretty clearly defined on how to advanced and how use your special abilities.
getting money and equipment early on can be a pain, you have to really get to know your surroundings, but that all comes from the fun of exploration.

I found the new tutorial to be excellent. I played beta and for a long time afterward but left for other things. I came back recently, but was totally lost with all the changes(CU). Last night I decided to create a new character and after about 6 straight hours I had to make myself logoff. I had a blast and the tutorial was very well done.

My main concern is this: How easy is it to get used to in the beginning?
For me, the ease of use of a game is what makes of breaks a game.
