My personal favourite is Engineer but Warrior is a shoe-in to be the most played due to its popularity across a number of games, and you can't count on every person to be simply magnificent, as many people seem to need a degree of familiarity with which to enter into something. It's also why Human will be the most popularly chosen race as well. Not everyone goes for the most interesting options, but rather the most familiar ones. So I suspect that the most played thing in the game will be a human Warrior, I believe that was the case in Guild Wars 1 as well.
I haven't been keeping up on all the class details, but when I first read the poll, I was thinking, "whichever class is deemed to be overpowered". I voted theif because stealth classes are often the most overpowered after launch. I don't even know if thieves can stealth or not, so it may not be a valid vote.
Vault-Tec analysts have concluded that the odds of worldwide nuclear armaggeddon this decade are 17,143,762... to 1.
my main will be Human, he may be warrior, but im still trying to figure out if thats what i really want for him. i want it to match his style and such.
me second will be a female Charr Engineer, because i can, and engineers are what Anet says fits Charr best so i will
the other 2 will be the other races but i have not figured what pro they will be
Given some of the videos from Gamescom and PAX, I'm going with Necro.
Necro has been getting a lot of attention lately, and it's a type of class that has a lot of utility to it, along with awesome visuals. Warrior and Necro will most likely be fighting for the top spot for quite a while I would imagine.

I was thinking on making a Thief/Assassin but i'm now torn between that and Necromancer.....
Mana. They use Adrenaline. Everytime the Warrior attacks, he gains adrenaline.
He can then expend that adrenaline on burst attacks with additional, flashy effects.
Actualy, no classes have mana anymore.
Just 2 cents.
Is it still this way with Warriors? The Adrenaline mechanic? Because I honestly wish it wasnt. I really dislike the way warriors play in mmorpgs. The whole adrenaline thing sounds pretty much like WoWs rage or whatever.
I just could never logically see how a warrior would get stronger as he fights. Typically I would think you would get more tired as the fight went on, not stronger. I think mana is more valid. You start powerful but grow weaker as you exert yourself. But to get stronger as you go along? To me that really makes no sense, and Id hate to see that mechanic once again put into another mmorpg.
I also voted Warrior as the most played class. I still intend to try one out, maybe right out of the gate (Im hoping to eventually play most or all the classes).

Think of it as warming up for combat, once your toon has done its proper lightweight hack n slash and has taken some endurance beatings, its muscles are now adjusted and ready for proper retaliation.
Seriously, I don't care much for the rage mechanic either.
My vote was the warrior/magic combo user, not doing so well...I guess multiclasses aren't as popular as I thought.
I have a hard time understand how 3 out of 4 in this forum can think that anything else but a warrior will be the most played class. What argument is there that the trend from most other RPG and MMorpg including gw1 should change that much in GW2 ?

The experience of having played multiple RPG games since 2003 tells me that the brute force melee class is in most cases the most played.
Have in mind that thinking that it will be the most played doesnt mean that 65% of the pop base will be playing that, its just that it will probably be the most played out of the 8 classes

Probably has something to do with playing with people that end up preferring classes that are more exciting...that's my situation often enough. I should have resorted to the brute, hack n slash, tank guy though. Since simplicity normally rules - nothing against that particular stye though
Usually I'd say warrior, but the fact that the elementalists can run and gun will probably make them able top the charts. I've always hated plaing a caster 'cause of the fact that I had to stand still while casting. I'm probably going this as my first alt. Going warrior as my main, because I always love a badass who goes mano a mano into battle.
It does seem quite difficult to predict, because a reason lots of people play warrior is that they look really badass in full plate. With the armour looking different for different races, and some of the classes playing very differently to their archetypes in different games, we could end up very surprised!
Personally, I'm going to wait for the final class to be revealed, but I'm trying to narrow down my first choice from Ele and Necro, although if the last class plays like a Mesmer in GW1, that may be what I end up with.

Nah, Adrenaline isn't nowhere nearly as critical to GW2 warriors as Rage is to WoW warriors. It basically builds up a you attack and its main purpose is to unleash that weapon type's special skill. It's not the crux of your entire class like in WoW, at least not in a sense that you're completely SOL if you're out of it.

Exacly like he said, they ballance it through recharge time, just like the skills for the other classes.

It doesn't really work like WoW rage at all. Previously, every class used energy (mana) to activate skills. Recently, they removed the energy cost of skills completely. Adrenaline was never related to the cost of skills in any way.
Warriors have an adrenaline meter that builds up as they fight, and each weapon has one "burst" skill they can spend adrenaline on. It functions a lot more like EX moves and super combos in Street Fighter than rage in WoW.

Well, we seem very divided so far.
Warrior, because its the most played class in any MMO so far...
Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)
I also have a wierd feeling a disproportionate number of those Warriors will be Charr Warriors...

The most popular Race/Class combo will, without a doubt, be Charr Warriors.
First of all, Charr's are frickin' awesome.
They're badass.
They are bipedal beasts who bow to no one and play by their own rules.
But screw all that, they RUN ON ALL FOURS.
That's the real selling point.
Warrios because they're the most versatile class in the game.
They can wield:
- Sword&Shield
- 2Hander Sword
- Mace
- Axe
- Hammer
- Bow
- Rifle
And probably more.
Warriors have:
Stances - Toggle passives with enhancing effects
Chains - Three set skills executed in a row for awesome, flashy combos
Banners - Rally posts that buff allies in an AoE. They can be moved around.
Shouts - Skills that affect large areas that either buff allies or debuff enemies.
Warriors DON'T have:
Mana. They use Adrenaline. Everytime the Warrior attacks, he gains adrenaline.
He can then expend that adrenaline on burst attacks with additional, flashy effects.

I'll have to go with Human Warrior. No other race appeals to me, no other class (except Elementalist) appeals to me.
Warrior or Ele, they will be the top 2 anyways so I'll have to choose 1! Most likely warrior with Ele alt.

Cyborg Ninja.
"Gypsies, tramps, and thieves, we were called by the Admin of the site . . . "
Interesting, I thought people would solely focus on ele and war. Its bound to happen
I have a nagging feeling that it's going to be Guardians.
Followed by Elementalists followed by Warriors.
