I can see guilds stepping on other guilds toes with this feature. One guild constantly using members for raids/pvp etc..causing them to be non existant, dead weight in other guilds they joined..I'll stick to the one guild method,it always worked for me.
Honestly I cant begin to understand this system. I was under the impression the whole entire point of joining a guild was to belong to just one. Exactly how many guilds are we allowed to join? Im very confused. Now Alliances I can understand but belonging to more than one guild? I somehow feel that makes the entire concept of being in a guild pointless.
Maybe it will all make more sense after I see it implimented in the game. But for now, it seems like a very strange concept to me.
i always liked te idea of belonging to multiple linkshells in ff11 so i'm happy AN are doing it here.
RIP Ribbitribbitt you are missed, kid.

Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and not clothed.
Hmm. I don't think I like this design. Having been a guild leader in a couple of games and an officer in others when I didn't want to deal with it, I can see where the logistical parts can be a pain. Having people spread out is rarely good and the few times I chose to be a part of multiple LS's in FFXI I learned that it didn't promote a closer kinship and I lost some of the friends I had because I became a little out of touch juggleing different LS's.
While I can certainly see some appeal, as long as it isn't forced I am ok. When guild drama got to be a bother it was always nice to have a character that wasn't affiliated with anyone so I could sometimes just hang out without all my buddies knowing I was on. this being account bound, I am not sure how this is going to play out just yet. I will have to wait and see.
cool always thought there should be some system like this in most MMOs.
LFD tools are great for cramming people into content, but quality > quantity. I am, usually on the sandbox .. more "hardcore" side of things, but I also do just want to have fun. So lighten up already
maybe is npc guilds, like in many others games u affiliate to clans/guilds and get quests /items from them...i cant imagine have more than 1 player created guild...
I can understand some peoples concern about being a guild leader and not having the commitment from their members but at the same time this is not really any different from members leaving to join another guild. The important thing to do is make your guild interesting and to focus the interest on what you are doing. That way you will be the one getting the action.
I can't see it being a big problem though, it gives us choices and alloys a more social game, just what Anet are after.
We will adapt to the change quicker than you'd expect.
"You will be able to choose, at any time and on any character, which guild chat you are viewing and what guilds you are currently affiliated with."
So you have a choice, for all your characters which guilds' chat you'll be able to see and in what guilds your character will be. How can that be a bad thing? If you want your character to be in one guild and to only see that guild's chat then you can. If you also want to see the chat of another guild you have a character in then you can. Just to keep tabs on whether they're going to run that hard mode dungeon you've never gotten around to doing or joining a big dynamic event you can switch to another toon if you want.
It might seem more challenging for guild leaders who will have to keep things happening to bring in the players on the toons in your guild. But in the end it just might make things easier for everybody.
Waiting for Guild Wars 2, and maybe SWTOR until that time...
This could work great or could unfold into a lot of chaos. I have to look at it in more of a positive light, though...it gives a person lots of options. (A) It seems like a great way to find guilds geared to what you like to do; (B) It could also be a good way to search for a "home" guild that you would stick with for a long time; (C) Even if you are a GL and this system makes you leary, it's a chance for you to not only run a guild, but enjoy "being a grunt" somewhere else.
Maybe it'll work, maybe it won't, but I can only hope for the best.
I find it rather odd to be a member of several guilds. They should have added alliances instead or something :S
How do you see the alliance aspect working better, not being sarcastic or anything I'm just curious because that actually sounds better; elaborate just a little...
I kind of like there idea as well but maybe thats because I have played FFXI where you had the option of equiping any linkshell (guild) anytime you wanted.
You all are looking at it the wrong way. Think about it.
You could have a guild where you do pvp stuff and another guild where you do pve stuff. This opens the doors to all the people you can meet. You can create your own private guild with just close friends or something. They're putting it in the player's hands to create the factions and alliances they want. If you don't want other players playing how they want, thats a problem you're going to have to deal with

This is a great idea, it gives people the options of basically joining "alliances" but in an easier way.

Worked great in FFXI multiple guilds for multiple different events, the game even had the single guild only guilds which did everything togeather.
This is alot more of a casual feature, single guild for everything works best if you play all the time.
People had their social guilds and their event guilds.
There was no like tech tree attached to a guild though that could make things intresting.
