Hey, just wanted to put up a quick poll and see who all will be playing the new servers, and what your past experience with DAOC has been.
Feel free to elaborate on your vote.

Introducing FUN, a new guild which will be residing on the upcoming new server!

I agree.. it's nice that Mythic can recognize the things which they've done which a large part of their playerbase would say were mistakes, and do something about it. By making new servers with these new rulesets, they appease everyone, the ones who like the game how it is now and the ones who wanted these things removed. Honestly, I can't think of anything else that I would want different with the new servers, and they addressed everything which made me no longer want to play.
I played up til ToA and then lost interest quickly after it released. Now, there is no other MMOG that I would want to play, with these new servers coming out. Except for perhaps Roma Victor, if it comes out as well as can be hoped.

Are they releasing servers without the expansion files on the server?
I wish SOE would do that with EQ, then i would return to the game.
Ill definately check it out, though
--Nyture, Arc Convoker of fironia vie server (EQ) --Retired--
-- Nytur 39 Conjuror of Lucan D'lere (Quit due to low populations)
-- Currently playing WoW while waiting for vanguard
Explorer 66%
Socializer 60%
Killer 53%
Achiever 20%
PLEASE SOE MAKE A CLASSIC EQ SERVER. Shadow of luclin was a prick in EQs side. PoP Was a gun to the face.
They're releasing 2 servers without ToA, or buffbots, or the /level command.
Classic + SI + Catacombs - ToA - buffbots - /level = The best thing that DAOC can be at this point, many people would say. And that's what the new servers will be.

Though adding population restrictions of some kind which keep the realms balanced would be a nice addition as well. It's worth it to have to wait in a queue to log in if you'll have balanced realms, for a good number of people, I'm sure.

I'll definitely be checking out the new servers. I think that without ToA, it will be easier to get the characters up and running in effective RvR. I don't think it will be so easy to let go of characters already made. Not really sure where most of my time will be spent now.
Joined 2004 - I can't believe I've been a MMORPG.com member for 20 years! Get off my lawn!
I will be one of the new people. I've played most every other well known MMORPG but never got around to playing DAoC. Many say that DAoC was their favorite MMORPG, so I want to see what I've been missing. I think I will enjoy this game as I played alot of Shadowbane, and many of my friends from that game returned to DAoC. The PvP is what interests me most.
I have a few questions. What all expansions do I need in order to have everything for PvP? Do I need the ToA expansion pack in order to play Catacombs stuff? Or can I just buy DAoC Gold(DAoC + Shrouded Isles) and Catacombs?
Guild Wars - Rorick Aurlith E/Mo pumped up with the best armor and weapon, has all his skills, and runes. PvP King!
Dark Age of Camelot - Leaton 50 Vampiir - Lamorak - Guild: Magic and Mayhem!
You can go with just gold and catacombs, from what I hear. Some people say you need ToA to install catacombs, but I've heard people say that they installed gold and catacombs no problem. That said, gold is $20, and so is the platinum pack.. but if you've got gold or can find it cheap it'd most likely be worth it.

Mythic has said many times that you need to have TOA installed to install Catacombs. Just get the platnum pack and cats for $40 total. No so bad realy.
I found out about a week ago you will not need ToA to play on the new servers. They has disabled the ToA requirment for those.
Other people have claimed that since then they could install Catacombs and will be able to access the zones on the regular servers, but not ToA. But since I have all of the expansions there is no way for me to test that out.
i started my account about a week ago. no TOA ever. i bought catacombs, installed it, and am playing it. like i said i never had TOA, never installed it, never saw it.
you dont need it now, or on new servers
