It really shows a mod PENDRAGON just banning for any ill talk of the game.
What is comical is Mod Pendragon saying 100's of new people come to MO everyday when most of the pop are saying the game is at a dismal population.

 Sorry for the terrible copy paste. Was hoping it would be a bit clearer, I will do it here in type. Pendragon: We get hundreds of new players everday, but the same unconstructive bullshit, bashing mods, bashing the gm tm, telling people how gay you are: the devs dont wanna hang around and new people dont wanna join. Pendragon: not allowing this crap anymore Kuthara: 100s of new people every day? L: 100s BULL shit ^.^ L; L is banned 24 hours Kuthara: Erm maybe there is 100 people playing the game on a good day.. maybe. Something needs to be done to boost the pop abit me thinks. Kuthara; Dude you cant boot someone for dissagreeing with you ^.^ Kuthara is banned for 24 hours (No explination) This really does seem like a mod just throwing his weight around because he can. I dont really like L but he should not have been banned for that comment and I had litrally only just logged on and posted that and I was also banned. I do not think I broke any rules by what I posted. It really seems like there is ALOT of irregularity on IRC also. Sometimes people get away with saying some pretty blatent bannable things while a mod is present and othertimes it would appear Mods just ban for the hell of it. There needs to be consitancy. |
What I do find funny in the thread is a player basically telling Kutai if you want to complain about MO you need to go to places like mmorpg.com

MO has some of the most censored forums i've ever seen. their moderators are borderline "gestapo" like. even nuns at a convent school let you get away with more. they are not just strict but also completely random. no consistency what's over.
it's funny because they think it actually helps the game, wile it does nothing but piss off their paying customers. either way, they own the game, they own the forums and they can do with it what they feel like it. i'm just going to stay clear, and will advise anyone i know to do the same.

many of my guild members have had issues with pendragon also, i jsut avoid irc for anything other than trade.
there are 2 types of mmo, imitators and innovaters.
When Veterans who had joined since 2009 advise other players to have their voices heard on other mmo sites, you know the company running the game really is shit...
Majority of MO mods are a joke, specially immature powerhungry kids like Pendragon, who abuse mod power as soon someone disagree with them. 100 new people every day? What a freaking joke. Sadly, nothing can be done about the situation, since mod structure is controlled by ex-AI members.. I think it was suspected that Shinzon is the CM, no? They all cover eachother, and Henrik doesn't seems to quite care about what's going on in IRC any more.
They argue that they are trying to create a better atmosphere for new people, but here is a newflash: driving away your real customers by going nazi modding is not the way to go, considering how few new people there are. Getting banned from IRC is missing half of the gameplay you pay for, since because of the stupid game design IRC is a must for efficient communications.
Mods are bashed because they deserve to be bashed. Ever considered that the problem lies within how mods behave, not the community, eh?
Sometimes my powers even amaze me! Before my ban a banned poster's earlier posts could still be read. No more. All articulate critique will henceforth go elsewhere. I'm amazed they haven't closed my account yet but I suppose its just a matter of time.
New patch today; new promises; old questions:
Fixes or new exploitable brokenness?
New GM or old GM with a new name? Or new GM with old GM attitude?
Why would the major guild leaders have bothered to attend their special meeting last night without first arranging for another round of mass cancellations the way the PK guilds tend to do if the latest of their demands in Nave are not met?
Enquiring minds are laughing hysterically at such Carebear foolishness; If you won't fight SV using weapons of mass out of game PK the way the PK players do you will be ganked for the duration. Its long past time to move on regardless of your love of MO's undelivered potential.
Meanwhile the gangs will continue their ganking spree. Be sure to join one if you decide to play.

People are getting banned for speaking out in a private IRC in which SV has stated numerous times isn't "official"???
If the paying public have concerns perhaps STARVAULT should listen!!!

Would be nice to see a more complete log of this IRC chat. From the portion I quoted above, it's pretty clear that Pendragon was already annoyed by some of the behavior in IRC even before this exchange. Without knowing what came before it's hard to know what to make of this.
This could very well be like complaining about a cop giving you a ticket for calling him stupid. (i.e. the ticket was for speeding, calling him stupid is just what made him decide that a warning was not enough).
As to the thread being deleted, one of the best ways to get yourself moderated is to complain about the moderators. That's true on this forum just the same as it is there.
As to "hundreds of new players everday" , yes that was off base. That being said, he was exagerating the damage done by " the same unconstructive bullshit, bashing mods, bashing the gm tm, telling people how gay you are to try to dissuade them from that activity.

I havent gone on irc for the past 3 days but Pendragon is the best mod (imo). So i may be a little biased. Also it might not have been Pendragon that kick/banned them.
And as to them cracking down ,its there channel they can do what they want.
Dont like it ,dont use it.
Well, most of the 'paying public' of MO doesn't care about IRC, has rarely been on there, and would never say the stupid stuff that gets people banned from there.
Seriously, people antagonize a mod and flip out when the mod does the only thing a mod can do?
Besides, the poster above me is right. Their house, their rules.
And finally, compare MO's moderation to EVE's (because I don't forumwhore on a lot of forums tbh). First, you're allowed to say much more R-rated stuff in MOFO. Second, 'bashing-the-game' posts are moderated very similiarly. Criticisms in a certain tone stay, criticisms in another certain tone gets deleted. It's all standard, it's just that CCP can afford more moderators, so the deleted posts don't hang out for half the day, thus get screenshotted and plastered on mmorpg.com, etc.
Nah. Browse the Eve forums. 99% of the topics are harsh complaints about Eve, like problems never getting fixed, and recently, about CCP taking wholly wrong turns. CCP tolerates it and has community managers that still have ties to the community. The devs themselves use the soom(tm) joke and there are actual discussions about hot topics. Recently the moderation has increased due to pressure from the same morons who killed Eve by introducing microtransactions, but it's nowhere close to the fascist "opinion management" of StarVault.
Now browse the super-happy-land that is the MO forum. Not even going to describe that anymore cause everyone who's here knows what it's like there.
Seems Pendragon is turning out to be quite the Nazi Mod.

Wow, I thought the Mods on this forums were nuts sometimes, but THAT is just plain stupid. I'm not sure why anyone would still be playing this game.

That logic no longer applies when IRC is a must for being able to play the game, due to badly designed communication tools and economy. All trading goes through IRC, and now even in-game event announcements (NaveHerald, anyone?). Not using it is cutting out good 50% of the gameplay experince.
And I think the above chat just shows how terrible MO mods are. There is a line between healthy modding and nazi modding, which he crossed long time ago, abiding his own preferences instead of following rules he should enforce. Looks like mods have some kind of delusive image of kindergarden IRC where everyone is playing nicely and as soon as anyone calls anyone anything rude it's banhammer time. Good luck sustaining that in a sandbox atmosphere.
And yet he is still a mod. Doing his job. Perhaps he is just following orders.
Works as SV intends nowadays I think.

that shows just how pathetic SV are at managing their business : the game is already in deep shit, their finances are terrible and they keep losing paying customers everyday, they have a very small harcore playerbase that's hanging by a thread, and YET they find a way to piss them off even more treating them like crap.
Or perhaps SV just lack any better candidates. I think the later.
Is it poor behavior? Absolutely... but it is passively encouraged by those who accept it while continuing to support the company. If I piss in your cheerios and you pay me.. I'm probably gonna do it again.

well slapshot the implication is that we dont passively encourage it at all, because we speak out against it time and time again and nothing changes, it just gets worse.
you'll be happy to hear though that the state of the game is finally starting to break some of the vets. i did quit last month but was tempted back by the war but now that's gone there's nothing left. no reason to log in because of the bugs and population, no reason to make any discussion or criticism cos the mods come crushing down on you.

Kinda funny reading the above statements, considering threads such as this. While mmorpg mods may be strict, they at least follow the rules, while mods at MO are randomly banning people they just think feels right and delete any threads that may make game look in negative way, even if they are constructive or just goodbye threads.
