Pretty clear numbers here. Let's just see if they really want to go down that road and make this "social experience" in game with a browser. I think it's a bad idea, so do 55% of the people that voted.
"Give players systems and tools instead of rails and rules"
Fighting against social networking is a lost cause. It's going to become more and more integrated into just about everything. Adapt or end up like your grandparents that didn't understand how all this stuff works.
It's not adaptation but submission. And facebook is only succeeding to this day because it is the only big name in town.
Social networking should be an option, not a requirement.

Actually, Social networking sites are having real problems, it's a well known fact that they are loosing users by the millions. Facebook reportedly lost 6 million users in May. Add that to the fact that more than 100 million Twitter accounts are dormant and some have begun to question the long term future of social networking.
Main reason for this is that mobile devices offer so much more now that Apple has changed the phone and pad market. They now act as micro social hubs that offer similar benefits. Immediate contact to all your friends everywhere through text or chat, games and internet. There is no need to sit in front of a desktop or laptop, you can be social anywhere now.
There are of cause other reasons, like the whole privacy issues with social platforms that play a big role in this decline.

Well, last time I bothered to check I belive facebook had something like 750+ million user accounts so I'm pretty sure they can afford to lose a million here or there, lol. As for your new devices arguement, it might have mattered if it wasn't for the fact that just about every device out on the market either A) comes with a facebook app already on it in some cases or has an app that can be downloaded for free. So you were right in one sense. There is no need to sit in front of a desktop or laptop anymore. Frankly I dont care all that much for facebook myself but I dont even bother to kid myself, its not going anywhere anytime soon. I mainly use it to keep in touch with some friends and family that live all over the world..... kinda like the other 750+ million users do I would assume.

They straight up lost 6 million users, deleted, gone! The amount of dormant accounts should be much higher if you go by the 100 Million dormant Twitter accounts. Unfortunately one can only speculate how many Facebook accounts are not used anymore.
