Okay...
I was playing 9dragons pve server, but I am a bit tired of getting shuffled off to new publishers, and the attitude from the pvp junkies.
I started playing another game on gamescampus, where 9dragons is going next, called scarlet legacy and enjoyed that till I found it went forced pvp. I ended up in an arguement about pvp and got totally fed up with PK players altogether.
This led me to get rid of both games and my links to the forums, I'm tired of them.
I tried Mabinogi. First time playing I decided to delete the first character I made and do a new one. Have to wait till the next day for it to be deleted and couldn't do anything else with it in the mean time. Have to buy extra characters, which I was going to do till the game did a jig and deleted over an hours worth of play. So i deleted that one and kept looking.
Tried DDO, hated the movement mechanics. Don't know if it was my keyboards, connection or what, but doing pirouettes while trying to fight got old real fast.
Started looking at Cabal and noticed that even thou there are penalties there is still PK.
Tried one called Last Chaos and didn't really care for it, especially the map. I had no idea where I was most of the time.
So I guess I am looking for a light weight game, 4 - 5 gigs tops. A game with no PK, I don't care if it has pvp as long as it's something I don't have to mess with. RPG style, crafting, quests, etc.
I am not a serious gamer. I play games to mess around and chill. With 1 player games if there are cheat codes I use them. I am not looking for a "challenge" since in my mind a game cannot be a challenge, it's either fun or it's not. So I want to find something fun to kill time with.
Help would be very much appriciated.
PS. I am a musician so any features dealing with music would appeal to me a great deal.

Lord of the Rings Online. Very nice looking game that I believe mostly focuses on PvE content with PvP happening on it's own zone and being completely optional.
And there's also a music system that allows you to play musical instruments.
Probably requires ~9 GB of HDD space tho.
a tale in the desert has no pvp at all , all about building/crafting .
im going to suggest LotRO as well. head for the Landroval server, or Brandywine. IME the 2 best servers, friendliest, oldest communities, etc.
the other good bit is that if you dont mind just mucking about you can completely skip the primary storyline even and just level that way.
if you dont mind a lazy grind through some mobs you can earn all the ingame money you need to purchase various elements of the game. just check out the forums and/or ask in /glff (global looking for fellowship).
also, if you like rp there is plenty of it on Landroval. though you'll have to use the forums to find a good rp kinship (read: guild).
entirely soloable, but encourages grouping.
finally, there's nothing more relaxing then being a hobbit on quests for pie or delivering mail around snoopy hobbitses.
keep in mind that ive played the game off and on for years. and have read Tolkien for even longer. originally wasn't going to play the game b/c of that. however, its just a great little game to have some fun in.
edit for more-----
not sure what size it is but Istaria has low end graphics but high end game play, ie.,

Maybe Vindictus, it's very casual friendly since it has offline character progression, and it has optional PvP with no PKing.
Tbh I would have recommended Mabinogi based on your post if you hadn't mentioned it because it sounds like a perfect match. It's the best MMO for music because it's the only MMO that lets you compose and play real music. You can turn off PK mode and it's very casual friendly. You might give it another shot... Something that they need to advertise more is that if you make your first character a human, you can unlock a free elf and giant character giving you 3 free chars, one of each race. Mab isn't the type of game where you want to delete a character, unless maybe it's for cosmetic purposes and you don't want to pay, since it's skill based with no max level so even if you wanted to try out a new fighting style you'd do better to stick with your original character. As for the rollback... I used to play Mab hardcore a year or two ago and I can only recall a couple rollbacks if that. So they're really pretty rare. It sounds like you tried it at the worst possible time, lol
Thanks for the the suggestions. Since LoTRo has the same movement system as DDO I guess I will give mabinogi another chance. Might try out Vindictus later.
The only reason I wanted to restart on Mabinogi was because I chose alchemist at first, then after pplaying a little bit decided I would probably be happier with the simple choice of warrior, but I can live with what I have.

ive played both games extensively and im not sure i know what you mean. the combat mechanics and movement are quite different actually. i'd go into a list but not sure it would help matters.
unless you mean WASD. then ya on that point they are simliar.

I figured since it was the same company and was wasd that I would probably have the same issues with trying to move around and doing more spinning back and forth than fighting. I may still check out LoTRo later.
As a head slap note, for some reason it never occured to me that I could install programs somewhere besides c drive till yesterday, so I actually have plenty of room.
I'm liking Vindictus. It reminds me of the Final Fight series I used to play on SNES.

ya if youre a point a clicker i think you can change that in LotRO's options. perhaps not. and if not that can be a bigger switch than most people admit. i came from the other direction. couldnt handle point to click, but then played it long enough that i found it actually an easier way to relax and play a game then having to hunch over the keyboard and WASD away.
not that im dissing wasd, i still use it, but i understand your point.
i will add however that other than WASD LotRO is really a different experience than DDO.
