Which game has the higher...

Out of Asheron's Call 2 and Horizons, which has more people. I just hope its not like Everquest where theres NO ONE at the starting areas. That was depressing

Tulga Games is claiming to have 10k subscribers now, and there are two live shards.  The non-RP shard (chaos) is very active right now in receiving new players and the starting area is very active.

By the way, Sony is aware of the problem with dilution of new players over the vast world, and I believe today or yesterday just instituted a brand new tutorial that is aimed at gathering all the new players in one spot.  The new tutorial will keep players occupied to level 10, if they want, and when its over they will pop in Plane of Knowledge rather than their home city.  This is again because they are aware of the "depression" of empty areas taht new players see.

I'd say in truth that Asheron's Call probably has the higher total of subscribers. But Horizons has a sufficient population for you to enjoy the game...and besides they have a very friendly and pleasant community which is very close with the devs of the game. The game is still not fully up to standard but many seem happy with it.

And yes the devs are doing things to improve the game. They have made quite a few miracles over this past year, and the game will hopefully keep getting better. One thing about the game which everyone is upset about is that it cannot handle 10s of thousands of players at once, otherwise what happens is the exact same thing as WoW. Sadly there is no competition like PvP so you can't test your skills against your friends.

Accoeding to MMOCHART.com Asheron's Call 2 has the higher population. (roughly 20,000 vs roughly 10,000) However there is nothing from either company to officially support these numbers. (they are a best guess) In Horizons I do NOT have a problem finding other players and there is no shortage of newbie stuff in the vendors. When I tried AC2 last summer it was a ghost town at lower levels. At time, I thought I was the only person ingame that wasn't capped.  I think this is because the population in AC2 is much more stable. The game doesn't really draw any new players. Horizons on the other hand is much more unstable, population wise. People hop in a try it out, leave for whatever reasons, old timers seem to be drawn back time and again, and some positive press sparks interest once in awhile. This creates a more spred out level population. The community is exceptionally nice and helpful but also exceptionally passive when it comes to supporting the game so it is very easy overlooked and plagued by stories of old problems.
