Actually no, and i can speak for my self as i already do. Companies put out the f2p games. Thats not my call. However what is my call is to pay to play it or go f2p . Having subscribed at beta /launch i know what the game is. F2p gives those who choose not to pay a chance to play some of the game. For those who pay they pretty much get what they pay for.
Now, if i choose to play by paying or not, decission is mine. Me choosing to craft while F2P makes no difference. Some one choosing to F2P should honestly have nothing to do with you. SO getting riled up over some one else choosing to go F2P and play the game differently then you might is not a problem. Least not to some others.
Life is to short and problematic on its own with some people getting bent over pixelated fun and how others do things. You should understand not everyone will play and do as "you" want them to.
Best wishes in the future...
p.s F2P means NOT paying anything. So why would i expect to be paying for F2P? 0o

Because F2P is just a gimmick? go try some other F2P titles AOC, CO, COX and let me know if you can play it entirely without any restrictions. In the end they still need to make money to keep servers up. it would be foolish for them to offer entire game for free. F2P is like an extended beta trial nothing more.
As far as getting bent over how you want to play, you assume too much. Nowhere i said even once that you shouldn't do crafting. But i do put a big question mark on your honesty when you said 'i just want to see how things are'. Which is clearly not the case. you want entire game for free which is unrealistic in expectation.
How on earth could they come to the conclusion that it was a good idea? You would expect people who manage to make a game like that have some intelligence in them.
they do have intelligence. but that didn't make them enough money to avoid being bought out by PWE which is the f2p equivalent of Walmart, ubiquitous beyond belief.

AHHH, CHELAN my friend. If i do make it into the game then we should bussiness up. You can gather the mats and i can put them to use. 8)
im totally down with that hehe
pm me if you decide to play

The matrix shows that scavenger crafts at 80% speed. So 8 hours a day is quite long still, unless you plan to craft vehicles. Then its simply short. EXP, faction and AP gain is 75%. That is not that bad, at least you dont have to worry to lvl to fast and your crafting cant keep up
The MMORPG.com article doesnt mention the cap on max amount of chips and no global chat access. Although most players make use of the help channel at start anyway. Some even dont ever leave that channel.
Im kind of surprised that the free players can use mail and auctioneer without restriction. The vaults are not mentioned in the matrix, so if you have full access to those, then it really is a good deal.
Actaully i play those as well, and yes they can be played f2p with the limitations on it. You just have to play within the f2p frame.
Now my honesty comes under attack. Well, we all have our opinions. Again, you keep responding to my posts showing your bent/upset because i choose to play as i play and attempting to place words in my mouth. No need for that, my words are posted. You are more then welcome to read into it as you wish. After all free country right. You will never have every one else play as you want. Thats just the facts.
Yea SOMEFORUMGUY, your right about that. Yea, having to spend the time to gather/ harvest then craft will take away from my actual craft time per day. Also like you stated, the higher up you go less it will be.
There is still time for more changes etc before launch, so ill have my ears on.

Nah i am not upset about anything. You seemed upset about how you were unable to play everything for free so i was just trying clear some things for you. by the way compared to other F2P MMOS FE's F2P model is very generous in comparison.
And no i don't want you to play as i want but i would still like to inform you that F2P doesn't mean that you are actually getting full game for free. This has nothing to do with how you want to play but how the game company wants you to play their game.
just pm me here, im waiting for Oct 12th. though if i decide to reactivate my old account ill pm you the ingame name.

I believe most of us who play games already know what F2P means. Sad to think that you feel that my post about limitations shows upset or hurt feelings. But then again we are free to read into things as we see fit. Your attemp at trying to explain things that did not need explaining just didnt work out. Although you may have had noble intentions, it just did not work.

Anybody who knows FA understands that the free Scavenger option is very generous. You would know if you had just tried the free trial at least (which I did a few months ago). Instead of whining and spewing garbage, you should just check the FA knowledge base. Quote:
There are 8 restrictions currently in place on trial accounts that players should be aware of. They are as follows:
No Trading
No sending mail
No auction bids/buyouts or posting
A level cap of 10
You cannot be a clan leader
You're limited to 100 chat messages per session
You cannot deposit items or chips in the clan vault
Unable to use Global Chat
Now compare this with the new F2P Scavenger option. A million times better.
Also, crafting is passive and happens in the background after you set the ingredients. You can run around, shoot or do whatever you want while it is being completed. Anyone who needs more than 8 hours obviously does not belong to the targeted user base for the F2P option.
I've no problem myself with free to play as long as it has the monthly sub option in the same way as DDO and Lotro have . It never costs any more to play the game than with the "old" pay to play model . I get a longer free trial and if it grabs me I'll sub or do the micro transaction thing . Its a win win situation . I don't know if FE will be my cup of tea but at least I'll try it now . Looking forward to City of Heroes too . I don't think many mmos are worth a sub to be honest or at least the standard sub of 8.99(15 dollars) . In some ways I'm more in favour of competative pricing than f2play . I wonder how many people woul be playing Warhammer now if it lowered its price to 5 dollars a month .
Wha if I had already purchased a copy of the game and paid for several months? Is there no tier for those who bought a box but don't currently subscribe?
Limited number of hours to play? ha, there goes my plan of playing it when it goes F2P
wow. ya i was just about to post, 'good to hear, i'll certainly be there.' not now. such a shame.
do you guys even know how to read... i quote, "Scavengers have a limited number of hours per day to craft items," CRAFT ITEMS..
*face-palm*
Back when those comments were written MMORPG.com had screwed up and said there were limited hours to play for the free accounts. The article was changed to what you see now after people pointed out the mistake.
So basically this game is changing to a pay to win model? Those levels of subscription past the base standard really don't look favorable except to the hardcore bunch. I rather play f2p with a limit on crafting.
We like to play MMOs because real people aren't as interesting, real exercise and fighting hurts, and virtual females are attractive.
Smart move on the devs part. Let people get a taste of the game and if they want more, pay for it.
This is a much better model than microtransactions!
To those saying it is Pay 2 Win, isnt every F2P or Microtransaction based game one? It would be idiotic to NOT reward those players that are willing to pay money and actually help keep the servers up.

Alrighty then CHELAN, sounds like a plan.
